482 | how did they structure the church in NT? | Heb 10:25 | Pastor Glenn | 77062
greatfullydead, Welcome to the forum. You said, "I am a part of a worldwide fellowship that has recently came to realize that the organization of the church was taking away the freedom of the chrisitians." What does it mean to take away the freedom of the Christians? Have you studied the book of Acts of the Apostols? Also, you should study the book of Timothy for starters. If Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior, then you should avoid saying "We do not want...". The question should be "What does the Lord want?" Greatfullydead is a good handle for those who have died to themselves and begun to walk in the Spirit as in Gal 5:16-26. Hope this helps, Pastor Glenn |

485 | Does God lead us into temtation? | James 1:13 | Pastor Glenn | 66315
cwade, First notice these related scriptures: James 1:12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. 13Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. 16Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. 17Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. 18Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures. 1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Proverbs 3 5Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Since all things work together for good and God makes a way of escape. Then our self preparation prayer should be to prepare us to follow God's escape route. Therefore "Lead us not into temptation" is so that our judgement is not so clouded by lust the we cannot see the way of escape. Pastor Glenn |

486 | Pastor not visiting the sick and Widows? | James 1:27 | Pastor Glenn | 65421
Mae64, Here is what the bible says: James 1:27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world. Acts 6 Seven Chosen to Serve 1 Now in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, there arose a complaint against the Hebrews by the Hellenists,[1] because their widows were neglected in the daily distribution. 2Then the twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said, "It is not desirable that we should leave the word of God and serve tables. 3Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business; 4but we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word." Mat 25:34Then the King will say to those on His right hand, "Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.' 37"Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, "Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?' 40And the King will answer and say to them, "Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.' 41"Then He will also say to those on the left hand, "Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: 42for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; 43I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.' 44"Then they also will answer Him,[4] saying, "Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?' 45Then He will answer them, saying, "Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.' 46And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life." Ezekiel 34 Irresponsible Shepherds 1 And the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 2"Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy and say to them, "Thus says the Lord GOD to the shepherds: "Woe to the shepherds of Israel who feed themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the flocks? 3You eat the fat and clothe yourselves with the wool; you slaughter the fatlings, but you do not feed the flock. 4The weak you have not strengthened, nor have you healed those who were sick, nor bound up the broken, nor brought back what was driven away, nor sought what was lost; but with force and cruelty you have ruled them. God, the True Shepherd 11 "For thus says the Lord GOD: "Indeed I Myself will search for My sheep and seek them out. 12As a shepherd seeks out his flock on the day he is among his scattered sheep, so will I seek out My sheep and deliver them from all the places where they were scattered on a cloudy and dark day. 487 | scripture on healing | James 5:14 | Pastor Glenn | 63654
sarajrae, Here is a good starting scripture: James 5:13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. 14Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16Confess your trespasses[5] to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. 17Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. 18And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit. If you have a reference bible (If you do it will say "Reference Bible" on the edge of the cover), you should learn how to find the references listed for each verse. This will lead you to more related scriptures where you can repeat the process of following more references. Otherwise, you should learn to use the search features of this web site. 488 | scripture on healing | James 5:14 | Pastor Glenn | 63668
EdB, I have no thoughts on last Rites for someone still living. But, if they are already dead and the Catholic church tries to raise the dead, then no one should try to stop them if they pray in the name of Jesus Christ. However, "Hail Mary mother of God..." will not work. It says pray over him, anointing him with oil "in the Lord's name" not "in the Lord's mother's name. [ :-) ] You probably mean praying someone out of Purgatory. In this case they need to find a scripture that says "Is anyone among you *dead*? Then *he* must call for the elders ...". After the dead guy calls for the elders then someone will probably need to stop them from running away first... Pastor Glenn |

489 | scripture on healing | James 5:14 | Pastor Glenn | 63672
I appologize EdB, I always beleived in praying for physical healing even for the terminally ill. King David prayed for Bathsheba's baby to live for several days, but he accepted it well when the baby died anyway. Death bed confessions seem far easier to accept then the sudden death of a loved one. I am sorry for offending you with my ignorant remarks. God Bless, Pastor Glenn |

491 | scripture on healing | James 5:14 | Pastor Glenn | 63688
EdB, Again, you say you "...learned of the Catholic take on James 5 I said to myself how in the world do they come to that conclusion??? ". Is it the laying on of hands, the anointing with oil, or the death bed confessions that you find interesting? The thief on the cross was essentially a death bed confession. Some people resist until the end before they accept Jesus: Psalms 51:7Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. 8Make me hear joy and gladness, That the bones You have broken may rejoice. 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart-- These, O God, You will not despise. Notice "...bones You have broken ..." and "broken and a contrite heart..." here. Also: 1 Corinthians 5 4In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, along with my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.[1] 2 Corinthians 12:7 And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. What do you think of these scriptures? Pastor Glenn |

492 | Elders anointing sick with oil. | James 5:14 | Pastor Glenn | 63699
justme, I think the anointing with oil is an act of faith as in the following scriptures: Acts 5:15 so that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them. Mark 6:56 Wherever He entered, into villages, cities, or the country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged Him that they might just touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched Him were made well. I think some pastors may feel that it is not right to get peoples hopes up and their loved ones should die anyway. Well, I feel that we should come to God in faith and leave it up to Him to heal or not: Jonah 3:8But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily to God; yes, let every one turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands. 9Who can tell if God will turn and relent, and turn away from His fierce anger, so that we may not perish? 493 | Elders anointing sick with oil. | James 5:14 | Pastor Glenn | 63712
justme, About two years ago I anointed and prayed for my sister in-law after she had a severe stroke. She was uncontious and did not wake while I was there. She is now bound to a wheelchair and her daughter has moved her away to take care of her in another state. This past December I rushed from work to the hospital to anoint and pray for an elderly woman member of my church. But I was too late. As I arrived, her son was on his way towards his car. He informed me that she had just past away. Her's was the only funeral that I have performed so far after only one year as pastor. I am determined to pray, fast, and anoint the sick while exhibiting faith on God to give them a full recovery. I believe that God wants me to have faith first and formost, then the sick will have less reason to doubt. It is good to lead them in death bed confession of sin. But their confession and conversion is the greatest miracle that they can recieve. If we can have the faith for the greater thing (salvation), then why not for the smaller thing (healing) also? Anointing with oil may be an act of obedience, but it shows faith to obey God. Habakkuk 2:4 "Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith. Romans 1:17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith." Galatians 3:11 But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for "the just shall live by faith." Hebrews 10:38 Now the just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him." Heb 11:6But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. God Bless, Pastor Glenn |

495 | scripture on healing | James 5:14 | Pastor Glenn | 63731
EdB, I read the site at: http://www.christusrex.org/www1/CDHN/heal2.html#SICK It was not clear at first glance that the focus is on last Rites, rather than for all general sickness. We should always look to the bible for what God is saying, above what our denominational tradition says. Jesus taught against tradition. Pastor Glenn |

496 | Does sin cause sickness? | James 5:14 | Pastor Glenn | 145679
Hello Newoldstock, Mark 2:9 Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk? Jesus Christ is the remedy for both sin , as well as, for sickness. "How come 5:15 links sins to sickness?" No, it does not. "Does sin cause sickness?" Sometimes. "Does healing sickness also heal sin and visa versa?" No. "And why would James say "if" when all have sinned and continue to sin?" If the sickness was a consequence of sin, then it would be forgiven. Joh 9:1 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. Joh 9:2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Joh 9:3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. Pastor Glenn |

497 | What is a Zionist? | 1 Pet 2:6 | Pastor Glenn | 137851

498 | Is Zionism biblical? | 1 Pet 2:6 | Pastor Glenn | 137857
Hello jdbound! This is part of what I said in post ID 137828 "Remember too, that before Israel even became a nation during WW II, the Nazis searched them out and destroyed 6 million Jews. This makes the scriptures perfectly clear. Satan hates Jews and Christians. Look at what is happening around the world and compare to Rev chapter 12: Rev 12:12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. Rev 12:13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child. Rev 12:14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. Rev 12:15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. Rev 12:16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. Rev 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. Notice that Satan hates both the "woman" (Israel), as well as, her seed (Christians). Please check out a video called "Former Muslims Testify About Islam" by going to the following link: http://www.johnankerberg.org/TV/ankjasrm-islam-wmv.html#IPR1 This is a real eye opener. Islam is a Satanic religion that hates Jews and Christians just as Nazism wanted to destroy Jews and Christians before. Even now Christian are being killed in Sudan, Africa! This is the spirit of Anti-Christ: 1John 2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time." 499 | wife submitting to ungodly husband | 1 Pet 3:1 | Pastor Glenn | 74918
coltonjunior, You asked "... Are there any passages that tell a woman what to do or how to act torward her husband, when he is not a godly or christlike man ? " 1 Peter 3 1 Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives, 2when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear. 3Do not let your adornment be merely outward--arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel-- 4rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. 5For in this manner, in former times, the holy women who trusted in God also adorned themselves, being submissive to their own husbands, 6as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose daughters you are if you do good and are not afraid with any terror. 1 Corinthians 7 10 Now to the married I command, yet not I but the Lord: A wife is not to depart from her husband. 11But even if she does depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband. And a husband is not to divorce his wife. 12But to the rest I, not the Lord, say: If any brother has a wife who does not believe, and she is willing to live with him, let him not divorce her. 13And a woman who has a husband who does not believe, if he is willing to live with her, let her not divorce him. 14For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband; otherwise your children would be unclean, but now they are holy. 15But if the unbeliever departs, let him depart; a brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases. But God has called us to peace. 16For how do you know, O wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, O husband, whether you will save your wife? |

500 | who or what are (the spirits in prison)? | 1 Pet 3:19 | Pastor Glenn | 142173
Hello Searcher, "I don't think Noah preached. Only Noah was found righteous (Gen 6:9) and we are not saved by the acts of anyone else" It took me a while to look up supporting scripture that Noah preached. But I did find it. Please notice, "...a preacher of righteousness..." (2Pe 2:5). Gen 6:18 But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee. Heb 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. 1Pe 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: 1Pe 3:19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; 1Pe 3:20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. 2Pe 2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; As fathers, we have an enourmous influence over our families, but we must use that influence to save our families. Abraham used his influence to force his servants and children to cut their flesh through circumcision. Obedience is important to salvation as for those that sprinkled blood on their door posts in Egypt. Also, God thought so much of Abraham's command of his house that He informed him of the judgement coming on Sodom and Gomorrah: Gen 18:17 And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do; Gen 18:18 Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? Gen 18:19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him. Your brother in Christ, Pastor Glenn |
