501 | who or what are (the spirits in prison)? | 1 Pet 3:19 | Pastor Glenn | 142257
Hello Bill, Based on these scriptures, the indication is strongly "angelic beings": 2Peter 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; Jude 1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. |

BradK, Just an observation: Heb 6:4For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6if they fall away,[2] to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame. Notice all of the “AND”s here. 1. those who were once enlightened AND 2. have tasted the heavenly gift AND 3. have become partakers of the Holy Spirit AND 4. have tasted the good word of God AND 5. the powers of the age to come Doesn’t this indicate a Christian that is very very close to God? It seems it would take a person with the mindset of Satan to turn back from that kind of relationship to God. God Bless, Pastor Glenn |

503 | Blaspheme against the Holy Ghost? | 2 Pet 1:10 | Pastor Glenn | 62621
Brother Moran, "... I don't see anything is the passage that indicates that such a person can never be saved again or can never repent...." "...No where else in Scripture are we told that it is impossible for someone to repent. ..." There is other scripture that speaks of the unforgivable sin of blaspheme against the Holy Ghost: Mark 3:28 "Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter; 29but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation"-- 30because they said, "He has an unclean spirit." Luke 12:10"And anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but to him who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven. " Could it be that these are related to Heb 6 God Bless, Pastor Glenn |

Brother Moran, Thank youfor looking into this. This forum is far better than just a study bible because of dynamic and sensitive members like you and others. We will not always agree, but I do not agree with stances that I have taken myself years ago. The Christian walk is indeed a growing and maturing process. God Bless, Pastor Glenn |

Well said BradK, It is also interesting how God often speaks of His people as sheep, as well as, as lambs. He also talks about how He would leave 99 to find the one lost sheep. God is great! God Bless, Pastor Glenn |

Very interesting Ray, This is quit a bit to ponder. It is also certain that God shows mercy far beyond what men would show to others: Isaiah 55: 6Seek the LORD while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near. 7Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the LORD, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon. 8"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," says the LORD. 9"For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. Justme, I am not sure that I can ever truly finish thinking about these things and all of the implications. This may be a reason why God made us in this physical world, while He is of spiritual nature. We must all leave our physical nature behind since flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God. God Bless, Pastor Glenn |

510 | Why angels are not forgiven? | 2 Pet 2:4 | Pastor Glenn | 86468
Mommapbs, This is an excellent question. I do not think that the bible gives a direct answer. However, to add to Scribes good answer, I will try to give my opinion based on scripture also. 1. Notice that man is saved from sin by the death of Christ on the cross. But, we still do not escape physical death. Our physical bodies die with our corruption, while our spirit lives on without corruption. Revelation 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them. 2. The cross does not save our corrupted physical bodies. 1Co 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. 3. The angels were created spirits only, they had no other nature. While they are temporarily transformed into physical beings, they can not die physically. Luke 20:36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection. 4. The sinning angels' corruption is contained in their spiritual essence. They have no alternate essence to contain their corruption. 1Co 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. 5. Christ cannot die spiritually, as is required to die for spirit beings. 1Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: 6. Even if Christ could die spiritually, He would be required to become “part of” , as well as, die for each angel separately, since they were created separately, as opposed to our human family tree from Adam. Christ became part of our human family tree (this was required). Hebrews 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 7. Especially in my opinion: God’s mercy was not extended to angels that sinned , since they were in heaven with no room for doubt. Their sin of pride and rebellion amounted to attempting to rob a bank in the very presence of the Judge, jury, and police. Could they ever truly repent without biding their time while seeking an opportunity to rebel again a few million years or so later? I invite anyone to feel free to shoot down my statements. I could easily be wrong. Pastor Glenn |

Thank you Emmaus, As Mommapbs said, these are good things to ponder. As we consider them in light of scripture, I think that we may gain more insight into related scriptures. As the old time hyme says "We will understand it better by and by." 1Co 13:9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 1Co 13:10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. 1Co 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 1Co 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. Truthfinder, This is as close as I have noticed you come to fully accepting Christ in your statement: "...He shows that those who received Christ Jesus, exercising faith in his name, were given “authority to become God’s children, . . . [being] born, not from blood or from a fleshly will or from man’s will, but from God.” ..." To add to the fine scriptures and comments of Nolan, Colin, DarcyA, and Hank, I wanted to encourage you to not be afraid to go the next step and confess Christ's full deity. Scripturally, what is the danger? I know that you see this is as not the real truth. But, please think about what Apostle Paul or Christ Himself might say if you could speak to him right now, directly. I think that they would say the same things that we are saying. Also, notice that Moses, Job, Abraham, Isaiah, and others in the old testament did not have new testament scriptures as we have. But, they still recognized Christ's full deity! John 5:39 You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. 45Do not think that I shall accuse you to the Father; there is one who accuses you--Moses, in whom you trust. 46For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me. 47But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?" Truthfinder, when you really find Christ, you have found the truth: John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. |

DL5, 2 Pet 3 5For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, 6by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. 7But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. Compare this to Ps 24 "...founded it upon the seas...": 1 The earth is the LORD's, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein. 2For He has founded it upon the seas, And established it upon the waters. also notice "...fountains of the great deep were broken up...": Genesis 7:11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. "what was holding the waters up if there were not land below". Biblically, it appears that the waters are now holding up the land. "...the earth standing out of water and in the water..." |

An interesting article: Noah's Flood - Where did the water come from? "...There are many volcanic rocks interspersed between the fossil layers in the rock record -- layers that were obviously deposited during Noah's flood. So it is quite plausible that these fountains of the great deep involved a series of volcanic eruptions with prodigious amounts of water bursting up through the ground. It is interesting that up to 70 percent or more of what comes out of volcanoes today is water, often in the form of steam. " http://www.answersingenesis.org/home/area/tools/flood-waters.asp |

Jesus connected Genesis chapters 1 and 2: Mat 19 4And He answered and said to them, "Have you not read that He who made[1] them at the beginning "made them male and female,'[Genesis 1:27; 5:2] 5and said, "For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'?[Genesis 2:24] I have no good answer for the statement "replenish the earth". Maybe someone else can add to this. Pastor Glenn |

Adam brought sin and death into the world from the start. So much for the pure blood line until Christ started a new spiritual pure blood line.

I am not going to bomb you. After God finished the sixth day He said it was "very good". The tree of Good and Evil was actually the tree of the "knowledge" of good and evil. This does not imply that there was any "evil" about the tree itself. It was simply bait for man to act on any evil inclination that should arise in his mind. |

Romans 5 Death in Adam, Life in Christ 12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned-- 13(For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law. 14Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come. 15But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man's offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many. 16And the gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned. For the judgment which came from one offense resulted in condemnation, but the free gift which came from many offenses resulted in justification. 17For if by the one man's offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.) 18Therefore, as through one man's offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man's righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life. 19For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man's obedience many will be made righteous. 20Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, 21so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. If you were to say pure faith line, it would be more accurate. Cane's blood was no more pure than Abel's. It was Abel's faith that made the difference. See Hebrew 11. |
