42 | does God chose who he will save | Eph 1:1 | New Creature | 185855
I personally believe we need to ask whether or not their is anyone God wishes to damn. I believe God is all benevolent and His "desire is that all men would be saved" God . . desires all men to be saved - 1 Tim 2:3-4 At the same time I see from Scripture that not all men actually will be saved. |

43 | Why do some believe while others do not? | Bible general Archive 3 | New Creature | 185853
My personal opinion is that a person cannot believe unless God first gives that person illumination.God must first give us a heart to know Him. 2 Cor 2:14 Now the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him; and he cannot know them, because they are spiritually judged. A person cannot savingly come to Jesus unless God draws that person to Himself John 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father that sent me draw him: Hope that helps. If I can assist you further please let me know |

46 | Why isn't my church growing in numbers? | Mark 16:15 | New Creature | 183632
We don't like to admit it but we can become complacent, and complacency amounts to lukewarmness. Being wealthy and intellectual can result in becoming complacent. We need to always be willing to examine and guard ourselves against becoming lukewarm. Lukewarmness can be individual or corperate. Rev 3:14 And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God: Rev 3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. Rev 3:16 So because thou art lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spew thee out of my mouth. Rev 3:17 Because THOU SAYEST, I AM RICH, AND HAVE GOTTEN RICHES, AND HAVE NEED OF NOTHING, AND KNOWEST NOT THAT THOU ART the wretched one and miserable and POOR and blind and naked: Rev 3:18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold refined by fire, that thou mayest become rich; and white garments, that thou mayest clothe thyself, and that the shame of thy nakedness be not made manifest; and eyesalve to anoint thine eyes, that thou mayest see. Rev 3:19 As many as I love, I reprove and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. Rev 3:21 He that overcometh, I will give to him to sit down with me in my throne, as I also overcame, and sat down with my Father in his throne. Rev 3:22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches. |

47 | Luke 23:43....TIME? | NT general Archive 1 | New Creature | 182945
Putting a comma after the word "today" is what the Jehovah Witnesses did in their New World Translation. But from my understanding the comma should properly be placed before the word "today" see partial commentary below. Luke 23:43 - To-day shalt thou be with me in paradise - Marcion and the Manichees are reported to have left this verse out of their copies of this evangelist. This saying of our Lord is justly considered as a strong proof of the immateriality of the soul; and it is no wonder that those who have embraced the contrary opinion should endeavor to explain away this meaning. In order to do this, a comma is placed after óçìåñïí, to-day, and then our Lord is supposed to have meant, “Thou shalt be with me after the resurrection I tell thee this, To-Day.” I am sorry to find men of great learning and abilities attempting to support this most feeble and worthless criticism. Such support a good cause cannot need; and, in my opinion, even a bad cause must be discredited by it. (Adam Clarke Commentary) NC |

48 | definition of a hypocrite | NT general Archive 1 | New Creature | 182266
The Dictionary defines the word "hypocrite" as a person who pretends to have desirable or publicly approved attitudes, beliefs, or practices which he does not actually possess. According to Christ, the sin of hypocrisy has to with honoring God with "lip service" while the heart remains far away from God. |

nallon said: It seems you are asking for judgement and it is not our responsibility. What is our duty is to "Love" as we have been Loved by God. nallon; If that is what you have gotten out of my replys then you have misunderstood what I have said. What I was attempting to say is, it's not I who is judging anyone. It is each of our own individual God given consciences which judge us individually. "Conscience is appointed to be the “vicegerent” of God in inflicting punishment, if his commands are not obeyed. It pronounces a sentence on our own conduct. Its penalty is remorse; and that penalty will be demanded if its promptings be not regarded. It is an admirable device, as a part of the moral government of God, urging man to the performance of duty, and, in case of disobedience, making the mind its own executioner." A. Barnes on 1 Pet 3:16 "Conscience is that act or judgment of the mind by which we decide on the lawfulness or unlawfulness of our actions, and by which we instantly approve or condemn them. It exists in every man, and is a strong witness to our integrity or to our guilt." Albert Barnes commenting on Rom 9:1 "consciousness exercises a judicial function, determining what is right or wrong, approving or condemning, urging to performance or abstinence. Hence it is not merely intellectual consciousness directed at conduct, but moral consciousness contemplating duty, testifying to moral obligation, even where God is not known;" - Marvin Vincent commenting on 1 Pet 3:16 "The word ("conscience") properly means the judgment of the mind respecting right and wrong; or the judgment which the mind passes on the immorality of its own actions, when it instantly approves or condemns them. There is always a feeling of obligation connected with operations of conscience, which precedes, attends, and follows our actions. “Conscience is first occupied in ascertaining our duty, before we proceed to action; then in judging of our actions when performed.” - Albert Barnes commenting on 1 Pet 3:16 "In conscience man stands face to face with himself" - Cremer NC |

55 | What is blocking us from God's love? | Rom 8:39 | New Creature | 181441
We have a personal relationship with Christ. Is this relationship unilateral, or bi-lateral. For that matter are any relationships except self-love uni-lateral? The following words come straight from the mouth of Jesus John 15:9 "As the Father has loved me, I have also loved you. Remain in My love. John 15:10 If you keep My commands you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commands and remain in His love. In verse 9 we see the command to "Remain in His love" In verse 10 we are told how we remain in His love. Obedience does not lead to salvation by works. Obedience is merely the by-product of having been saved. It's what a genuine saved person naturally does. Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God afore prepared that we should walk in them. Titus 3:8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. James 2:17 faith, if it have not works, is dead James 2:20 faith without works is useless James 2:26 faith apart from works is dead. |

56 | Is masturbation wrong? | Rom 2:15 | New Creature | 181438
I agree, but how does our conscience fit into this? Why the gulity conscience after performing such an act. Is our conscience God given? Is God using our conscience to let us know right from wrong? Doesn't a man's own conscience pass sentence on his conduct? I found the following concerning the conscience at ISBE "Another question of great interest about the conscience is, whether it involves an intuition of God. When it is suffering the pain of remorse, who is it that inflicts the punishment? Is it only the conscience itself? Or is man, in such experiences aware of the existence of a Being outside of and above himself? When the will is about to act, it receives the command to choose the right and refuse the wrong; but who issues this command? Is it only itself, or does the imperative come with a sanction and solemnity betokening a higher origin?" I think Paul would have agreed: Acts 24:16 Herein I also exercise myself to have a conscience void of offence toward God and men always. |

I am a senior citizen, but thanks for the compliment. You will have to tell me exactly how a person pleasuring himself/herself through this act is focusing on God's glory. Especially with a disturbed God given conscience. |

Robert; Just a personal note from my point of view. I believe any prayers said at a funeral rite should be for those still living. We can pray that God will use the circumstance to get others to consider where they will spend eternity. I don't however see what prayer can accomplish for the dead. |

Honestly answer this question. After having peformed this sort of act, does your conscience bother you at all? Do you find yourself left with a guilty conscience? Rom 2:15 their conscience bearing witness ... accusing or else excusing them); God gave us a conscience. Does your conscience sense any guilt after such acts? If so, the act is wrong, and God is using your conscience to let you know it displeases Him. |
