21 | Does God choose us? | Jon 2:9 | New Creature | 193470
I would like to make a comment on a portion of your Mark Webb quote. Webb stated: "If you perish in hell, blame yourself, as it is entirely your fault. But if you should make it to heaven, credit God, for that is entirely His work!" So let me see if I understand If you are saved, it's entirely God's doing, and not to your credit at all. If you are damned, it's entirely your own fault, and not God's fault at all (even though God controls everything). |

22 | Does God choose us? | Jon 2:9 | New Creature | 193469
The gospel was not and is not a manisfestation of to which persons God wills to give eternal life, but of the sort of persons to whom he wills to give eternal life, namely believers in Christ. - Zanchi |

23 | Does God choose us? | Jon 2:9 | New Creature | 193468
God has chosen to save those who believe in Christ by faith. God is not willing that any should perish (2 Pet 3:9) but that all should come to a knowledge of the truth and be saved (1 Tim. 2:4). Whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life. (Rev. 22:17). That is God’s final word on the matter. There remains a universal invitation in the gospel "As Revelation closes we read. ‘Whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely’ (Rev. 22:17). Thus the last great invitation in God’s book is an appeal to the will.” - Dr. A.T. Pierson |

24 | Can an unbaptised christian make Heaven | 1 Cor 12:13 | New Creature | 193084
I once read of a young man who Just recently became a believer. He was flying home to be baptized in the Church he grew up in, however the plane crashed, thereby leaving this new believer unbaptized. From that short account, do you personally believe this young unbaptized man won't make it into heaven? |

25 | Can MY faith in Christ save me? | Eph 2:8 | New Creature | 193033
In Ephesians 2:8, faith is not the gift. Faith is how we receive the gift. Paul is not here speaking directly of faith, but of salvation. He is affirming that salvation is the gift of God. That is made more clear in the following Scripture. Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. D. L. Moody once said, "Some say that faith is the gift of God. So is the air, but you have to breathe it; so is bread, but you have to eat it; so is water, but you have to drink it. |

26 | Why would God lead us into temptaion? | Matt 6:13 | New Creature | 193032
Mat 6:13 - And bring us not into temptation “Bring” or “lead” bothers many people. It seems to present God as an active agent in subjecting us to temptation, a thing specifically denied in James 1:13. The word here translated “temptation” (peirasmon) means originally “trial” or “test” as in James 1:2 and Vincent so takes it here. Braid Scots has it: “And lat us no be siftit.” But God does test or sift us, though he does not tempt us to evil. No one understood temptation so well as Jesus for the devil tempted him by every avenue of approach to all kinds of sin, but without success. In the Garden of Gethsemane Jesus will say to Peter, James, and John: “Pray that ye enter not into temptation” (Luke 22:40). That is the idea here. Here we have a “Permissive imperative” as grammarians term it. The idea is then: “Do not allow us to be led into temptation.” There is a way out (1Cor 10:13) but it is a terrible risk. 27 | worship and praise verses | Ps 117:1 | New Creature | 187192
In my own personal daily devotions in Psalms I recently came across these words of praise which I had to pause to meditate upon. Psalm 57:9 I will give thanks unto thee, O Lord, among the peoples: I will sing praises unto thee among the nations. Psalm 57:10 For thy lovingkindness is great unto the heavens, And thy truth unto the skies. Psalm 57:11 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; Let thy glory be above all the earth. Psalm 63:1 O God, thou art my God; earnestly will I seek thee: My soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee, In a dry and weary land, where no water is. Psalm 63:2 So have I looked upon thee in the sanctuary, To see thy power and thy glory. Psalm 63:3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, My lips shall praise thee. Psalm 63:4 So will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. Psalm 63:5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; And my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips; Psalm 63:6 When I remember thee upon my bed, And meditate on thee in the night-watches. Psalm 63:7 For thou hast been my help, And in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice. Psalm 63:8 My soul followeth hard after thee: Thy right hand upholdeth me. |

29 | What are the "evidences for salvation"? | Matt 7:21 | New Creature | 186471
Greetings For me personally, one of the evidences of salvation, is a hunger to feed upon the word of God. Another evidence is when you desire to spend more time with the people of God, than you do with people that don't know God Again another basic evidence of genuine salvation is a changed life. By that I mean a life that now goes in the opposite direction it previous went before becoming saved. (see 2 Cor. 5:17) A person genuinely saved, has a new outlook on life. His thoughts are not what they once were. His desires have changed. His attitude concerning material things has changed. He has been given a new heart. Scripture says you will have the internal witness of God's Spirit within you witnessing with your spirit that you are indeed a child of God. (Rom 8:16) There are more evidences, but I believe those I have listed will give a person sufficient proof of having genuine salvation Blessings NC |

31 | body piercings and why not | Lev 19:28 | New Creature | 186045
You seem to be supportive of body piercing. Can you post anything from the New Testament which lends support to that practice. I know the following verse in the New Testament is addressed to woman, but I also believe it should apply all the more to men. 1 Pet 3:3 Whose adorning let it not be the outward adorning of braiding the hair, and of wearing jewels of gold, or of putting on apparel; 1 Pet 3:4 but let it be the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptible apparel of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. In other words we should be more concerned about the internal inward condition, rather than outward external adornment. |

33 | body piercings and why not | Lev 19:28 | New Creature | 186020
For me personally, if God wanted me to have body piercings then He would have created me with a bunch of extra holes in strange places on my flesh where I could hang ornamental jewlery. The fact that I didn't come eqipped by God with all these extra holes, is ample indication and proof for me that God didn't want me to have a stud in my tongue, rings in my eye-brows, naval area, lips, nose, breasts or mid extremities. Besides I see it as wasteful spending on unnecessary ormanents to decorate this fleshy body, for the main purpose of drawing attention to ones self. I want my life and my body to point to Christ not self. Thats my personal two-cents on piercings. |

34 | DID PETER RESURRECT ANYONE? | Acts 9:40 | New Creature | 185895
There is the incident found in Acts 9:36-42 Where a woman named Dorcas was brought back to life after Peter prayed. Nevertheless it cannot correctly be said that Peter raised her back to life. Only God has to power to give life. Peter only prayed and obviously saw God's answer to prayer in raising this woman back to life. So no it wasn't Peter that resurrected her, it was God. It just so happened that Peter was present when God raised her back to life.
35 | does God chose who he will save | Eph 1:1 | New Creature | 185891
The point is, man doesn't have the ability to exercise faith on his own initiative unless God first gives him the ability to respond in faith. Once again Scripture clearly says: John 6:44 - NO ONE IS ABLE to come to Me UNLESS the Father who sent Me draws him In the conversion of the sinner God enlightens the mind John 6:45, he inclines the will Psalm 110:3, and he influences the soul by motives, by just views of his law, by his love, his commands, and his threatenings; by a desire of happiness, and a consciousness of danger; by the Holy Spirit applying truth to the mind, and urging him to yield himself to the Saviour. So that, while God inclines him, and will have all the glory, man yields without compulsion; the obstacles are removed, and he becomes a willing servant of God. - Barnes Notes |

37 | does God chose who he will save | Eph 1:1 | New Creature | 185887
Brother Hobbs Yes the jailer experienced the monergistic drawing. The drawing is solely God's work. That is why I believe the drawing must be classified as monergistic in nature. The beliving part is what man must do in response to the drawing. When the jailer asked Paul and Silas: "What must I do to be saved" Paul and Silas didn't respond and say to the jailer; "There is absolutely nothing you can do to be saved" Instead they told the jailer exactly what HE MUST DO. They told the jailer that HE HAS TO believe. By responding in belief the jailer is acting synergistically. Believing is an act man must do. God enables a man to believe, but man must individually and personally do his own believing, although God gives the man the ability to do so. As an illustration, I can lead a horse to the water trough, but once I lead him there, there horse must drink for himself. The drinking part is something the horse must do for himself. I can't do that for him. |

Thanks I apologize for the mistake
39 | does God chose who he will save | Eph 1:1 | New Creature | 185870
At first appearance it would seem that monergism would cancel out synergism, but upon closer look, I personally believe that is not the case. We see it stated in Scripture John 6:44 - No man can come to me, except the Father that sent me draw him: This tells me we cannot come to Jesus unless the Father first does something. The something mentioned is drawing us. The word "cannot" shows the impossibility of an individual coming on his own initiative. Therefore this drawing should be classified as monergistic. Next we see in Scripture where the Phillipian jailer asks Paul and Silas; Acts 16:30 Sirs, what must I do to be saved? Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus, and thou shalt be saved The above text refers to our part in appropriating salvation. In order to be saved we must personally and individually believe. And since God doesn't believe for us, but gives us the ability to believe, then our act of believing which comes in command form must be classified as an act that is synergistic in nature. One in which God's previously work of drawing assists us in a response of faith. Therefore my conclusion is that examples of both monergism as well as synergism can be found in Scripture. The one doesn't contradict the other. It's just a matter of at which point in the process of salvation monegism is in action, and at which point in the process synergism kicks in. Well thats how I see it. There are other verses I could have concluded as support, but I think what I have stated is sufficient at this time. |

40 | When does temptation become sin? | Matt 5:28 | New Creature | 185857
If being tempted means a person has sinned then we would have to say that Jesus sinned because He too was tempted. But we know Jesus was without sin, therefore being tempted cannot be sin. But when we don't resist the temptation that comes our way and give into the temptation and actually do what we are tempted to do then at that time it does become sin.
