341 | Lot righteous? | Gen 19:8 | CDBJ | 186326
Greetings jholler and welcome to the forum. I suppose the first thing to be considered, in order to answer your question, would be your rendition of what it means to be righteous since the Bible doesn’t make any mistakes. 2 Tim. 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; There may be more to the question about Lot then what meet the eye. Bringing it a little closer to home or ,shall I say, more up to date, what in your estimation would cause a person to be considerer righteous by God now days; then we can get back to Lot? Hi Rebecca and welcome to the forum. You might be thinking of the following, Rev. 13:7-8 (KJV) And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. 8And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. 346 | short enough | Matt 19:9 | CDBJ | 185305
Greetings Taby, That’s great and it’s always nice to hear when people are active engaged in church activity. Now in your latest post you claim that God did forgive you because he loves us. What is it that could have caused God to just forgive your of your sin’s since the righteousness in God’s character must punish sin. God in short it says so right here Romans 6:23 (A) For the wages of sin is death. Do you assume that your faithful serving has any part in your being forgiven and are you now a qualified member fit to be ushered into God’s presence if you should, shall we say, drop over dead in the next ten minutes. I’m not trying to detract from anything you have done I’m trying to get to the crux of the mater. And explain what the Bible says. Just how good, as it were, do we have it be in order to insure a residence in heaven? CDBJ |

Hi Taby815, Go easy with the use of higher case letters when you post, it make it awful hard to read. Now to your question: “WE ARE FORGIVEN BY GOD AREN'T WE?” You are the only one that can really answer your own question in that department but I’ll pose as one of those coy aggravating types that answers a question with a question, and then when you respond I’ll try an fill in the missing blanks, OK? Try this one: why should God forgive you? I'll try to bring the next verse into the picture. 2 Tim. 2:24-26 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will. 348 | Romans 14 | Bible general Archive 3 | CDBJ | 185285
Hi KellA, If you would like me to be frank with you I would say that the question now days about eating meat on Fridays during “Passover season” is nothing more then a “religious” set of rules, likely established as a way to tally up point towards ones credit for eternal life, which is contrary to grace in the first place. Ephes. 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast. Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: The only ones that will be in heaven are those that are just as righteous as God is; right from the get go that sounds like an impossibility, and it is, apart from God doing all the work for us. That’s why God performed all the work necessary in the person of His Son Jesus. 2 Cor. 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. The only thing that impresses God is the work that His Son did on our behalf and for us. 1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. The key to eternal life is FAITH, and the object of that faith “must be an undivided trust” in the Person of God unique Son Jesus; not something that we do in order to accumulate or tally up assumed points or credits. Eternal life isn’t a future wait and see situation, it’s a, “hear and know” knowledge that God has given to a select few that are totally trusting Him. John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Are you in yet or is that something you're still working on? CDBJ |

349 | Can a christian go to hell? | Bible general Archive 3 | CDBJ | 185196
Greetings Blazer No a “true” Christian can’t got to hell but then all of the things you mentioned doesn’t really make one a Christian either. Just because I blow on a duck call and hide among the ducks and make all of the proper noises that doesn’t make me a duck either; if you get my drift. I only way I could ever be a duck would be if I was born a duck. There are thousands that are imitating Christians today by making all of the proper noises yet that don’t even have a clue what a Christian really is. John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. They imitators even “think” they are dressing up like Christians. Matthew 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 2 Cor. 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. John 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. The key is; he that doeth the will of my Father and responds to the Father’s work. John 6:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. 350 | No meat on Fridays, why? | Bible general Archive 3 | CDBJ | 185191
Hi KellA and welcome to the forum, Maybe you have got not eating meat on certain days mixed up with some kind of non biblical religious activity. In the Old Testament they were actually commanded to eat the meat of the lamb to celebrate the Passover. The New Testament warns us of these conditions. Col. 2:16-17 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: 17Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. 2 Tim. 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: I hope you enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

352 | John 7:38 Rivers of Living Water? | NT general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 185029
Greetings Bill-S and welcome to the forum. Your question with reference to the “figure of speech” used in, John 7:38 "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, 'From his innermost being shall flow rivers of living water.' " “rivers of living water” The answer to you question is actually found in the next verse. John 7:39 But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. Paul explains something of what the true believer in Jesus actually has within him from the point of trusting in the finished work of Christ. Ephes. 3:20 Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, When true born again believers function as they “should”, in fellowship and under the guidance and control of the Holy Spirit, the power of God just like the life giving force of a river is spreads to others. 1 Cor. 2:1-5 And when I came to you, brethren, I did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God. 2For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. 3And I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling. 4And my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5that your faith should not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God. The Gospel message of Jesus Christ, when accepted and believed on, works like a flood of water that rushes out as when a levee is breached; the big difference is that the Spirit brings eternal life. John 4:10 Jesus answered and said to her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, 'Give Me a drink,' you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water." I hope you enjoy the forum and that you have had the experience taken of the water which Christ provides. CDBJ |

Greetings boyceowenby and welcome to the forum. I realize that you have just picked out a name to go by on the forum but someplace in a hall of legal records you are registered or listed by the name of, what ever you are know by; lets say, Shelby Boyce or something like that, what ever it is your name might be. Now when the resurrection takes place and all of the true believers in Jesus are given new glorified, fantastic bodies that are designed to last forever, I, for a change, will be so good looking that nobody will know it’s actually me until they hear my name mentioned. 1 Cor. 13:12 (B) but then shall I know even as also I am known. That’s my take on this but don’t take it to the bank just yet because I still just know in part. Enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

355 | Genre of Matthew 16:19 | Bible general Archive 3 | CDBJ | 184762
Matthew 16:19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." The genre of the previous verse would be one of responsibility. I would say that the salvation message of Jesus being the long awaited Messiah had just been entrusted to those hearing the message since it was revealed to Peter by the Father and confirmed by Christ Himself. Facts of binding: Eternal life is established before one dies and it’s all centered on the person of Christ. The following is a present existing condition, its bound right here and now, in this life; it’s not a future guess or wish. John 3:36 He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him." I hope you enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

357 | Please explain please the Trinity. | Bible general Archive 3 | CDBJ | 184741
This is about as plain as I can explain it and a person needs to understand what the Bible means by “one”. Try to visualize if you can the following in order to recognize the meaning of the “oneness” of God. Some of the more biblically recognized characteristic of God are as follows; God is, Sovereignty, Righteousness, Justice, Love, Eternal Life, Omniscience, Omnipresence, Omnipotence, Immutability and Veracity; this list isn’t complete but it pretty well explains what God is like in essence. In this sense the Bible tells us that God is one. There is no one else in existence, other then God, that has ”all of these special” characteristics; we can say therefore, that “in essence”, God is one, there is no other like God. i.e. God is the only one that exist that has these essence, if anyone could display these particular essence, they would in fact be God, plain pure and maybe not so simple but true. The Bible points out that there are actually three “distinct” and “separate personalities” in existence, and “each personality” exhibits “all” of these essences or characteristic, as God. The Bible describes them as, first person or The Father, the second person or The Son, and third person or The Holy Spirit. So God is only One in essence, but Three in Personalities. All three personalities have the exact same attributes, being God and all are equal as one, yet the personalities function differently but for the self same exact and perfect results. The word for God in the Hebrew, “elohiym” is a plural word; He is not a God, but “the” God, the one and only. Here is a good example of different personalities in the God Head. Genesis 1:26 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." Did you catch the Us and Our, used twice in that verse? Here is a unique instance where all three different personalities of God are observed and all at the same time. The following verse exhibits all three members of the God head functioning together to accomplish God’s fantastic plan for man’s salvation Matthew 3:16-17 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. [17] And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." Illustration: God knew in eternity pasts that man would sin, so God, in His Omniscience, His perfect knowledge, devised a perfect plan whereby He as God could maintain His perfect Righteousness, yet satisfy His perfect absolute Justice. The Righteousness and Justice of God combine to make up what is referred to, or known as the Holiness of God. What the Righteousness of God demands the justice of God “must” execute; God must punish sin, but God being a “Loving God” doesn’t want to be separated form man for eternity; which would be the result of man paying for his own sinful debt, since God tells us that we all have sinned. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; The wages for sin is death; not physical death but spiritual death, or separation from God forever. God can have absolutely nothing to do with sin, i.e. He can’t just excuse sin, it must be dealt with and disposed of for justice to have been served. God, in His Genius, devised a perfect plan whereby sin could be dealt with once and for all, yet God could maintain His Perfect Holiness and man could have a life that lasts forever with God throughout eternity future. God decided in His perfect love in eternity past that He Himself would pay the “awesome price” that He demanded for sin but the problem was, God, as God can’t die, because He is Eternal and He can’t be separated from Himself. But by one of the members becoming a Man he could accomplish the task. One of the members of the Trinity, the one we refer to as the Second Person, would become a man so that God the Father could take out His wrath for sin on the Man that God provide, or the appointed one, the Messiah, God one and only unique Son. In essence God said I will become a man and pay the ultimate price that I demand. |

Second Part of a Two Part Message Hebrews 10:5 Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: "Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, But a body You have prepared for Me. That is why Jesus says in the following verse, John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. When Jesus died on the cross He actually died twice. He died spiritually and when His work was finished he died physically. Matthew 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Jesus had “never” experienced “separation” from The Father; It was the most painful thing that he had been through in the whole crucifixion and he SCREAMED out. 2 Cor. 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. After Jesus had accomplished His work on the cross for our sins He made the following statement and then died physically. John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. The work for mans salvation had been completed. Jesus is the most unique person in existence. He is different from man in that He is God and he is different from God in that He is Man: He is the God Man. He is the only mediator between God and man because He is a member of both parties. 1 Tim. 2:5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, We know that God is a Spirit and as such he doesn’t have blood, yet look at the following verse and figure exactly who it is referring to. Acts 20:28 (B) among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He (God) purchased with His own blood. (Jesus) This might not clear up the Trinity for you entirely but I sure hope it helps. Have a great day, CDBJ |

360 | can god dwell in the flesh? | John 1:14 | CDBJ | 184714
Hello dshorty2004 and welcome to the forum. God not only can but He did dwell in human flesh. 1 John 1:1-4 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; 2(For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) 3That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. 4And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. Acts 20:28 (B) to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. Col. 2:8-9 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
