361 | Concept of Heaven and Hell in OT | 1 Cor 10:20 | CDBJ | 184695
Hi Lon, It sounds like you’re all over the place; like a runaway boat that’s out of control. You need some concrete answers in your life because you’re heading for the edge of Niagara Falls in a boat that doesn’t even have anybody on the helm. Are you aware that God has a perfect plan already in place for you personally and all you have to do is accept it? God even did all of the work. It sounds to me like you’re missing out on the best thing in life; I can say that because I’ve been there done that! Luke 6:39 And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch? CDBJ |

Hi TT and welcome to the forum. I would suggest that for starters one needs to believe what it says in, 2 Tim. 3:16 NKJV All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, If one is running into a conflict with other verses, with regards to their observation of truth, it’s obvious that their understanding of truth is out of kilter. Psalm 119:160 NASB The sum of Thy word is truth, And every one of Thy righteous ordinances is everlasting. It’s like trying to find the sum of fractions in math; they all have to be broken down to a common denominator and they are all a part of the total that forms the correct answer or truth. Hi #7 and welcome to the forum, The group of verses found in James 2: always use to puzzle me until the Lord revealed a simple illustration to me one day. I posted this answer and the illustration to a former member named Joe and you can read it by typing the number 16441 in the Search space on the right side of the home page. That one goes back to 2001 and I hadn’t been a member of the forum very long, in fact the forum was just getting a good start. I hope you enjoy the forum as much as I have, CDBJ |

367 | Cont radiction??? | John 1:14 | CDBJ | 184012
Hi San Lukas, If you think that might be a problem how would you consider this last part in the following verse? Acts 20:28 (B) to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. Emphasis on "HIS OWN BLOOD" Jesus came into this world to pay a debt that He didn’t owe, because we owed a debt we couldn’t pay! John 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. It’s not a problem for one of the members of the triune God to become a man. Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. God did the work it was His love in Christ. God’s love is so fantastic that He made the decision to die for us in eternity past so we could spend the future eternity with Him. God cannot just excuse man sin and still remain Holy; He must satisfy His righteousness so His justice must punish sin: God’s character "has to" remain intact. God can’t die as God so he actually had to became a man so He could die in our place, as a substitution, which completely satisfies the righteousness of God. What the Righteousness of God demands the Justice of God must execute. When a person accepts and believes, or trusts in the finished work that God did personally for them, on the cdoss in the person of Jesus, God promise to give them eternal life. We know that God was pleased with the work of the Son, Jesus, because He brought Him back to life. John 6:62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? I don’t mean to go on and on but that message still excites me and I praise the Lord for what He has done for me, CDBJ |

368 | although i could .others may brag about | NT general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 183960
Greetings PJ, Everything that Paul accomplished in his past that was of a religious nature, i.e. trying to gain God’s approval by assumed good works. Paul counted it all a waste of time and effort. Ephes. 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9not of works, lest anyone should boast. Paul found out that total faith in God’s Son Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross is all the means anything as far a God is concerned. 2 Cor. 5:21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. Jesus is the end of trying to look good in God’s eyes to everyone that will “totally” trust in Him. When one puts “all their hope” for eternity in the person of Jesus Christ, God places them positionally in the person of His Son and as a result when God looks at the believer all He sees is the perfect righteousness of God which is what He demands for eternal life What a fantastic plan that the Lord provided for us; He’s done “all” the work and deserves “all” of the credit so that boasting by anyone is completely eliminated. 369 | Where I can find documentation | 2 Tim 3:16 | CDBJ | 183900
Hi stjames7, It looks like Doc beat me to the punch with what I believe is good information and sound advise. Here is a pertinent question that you might have the answer to. Considering that you are pretty well versed in Scripture. Have you come to the place “yet” in your spiritual experience where you can say for certain, with no reservation, that you have eternal life waiting for you when you leave this present life? i.e. is it a sure thing? If “yes” then why, and if “no” then why not? Isn’t that a corker or would you consider it’s being presumptuous? CDBJ |

371 | How were people saved before Jesus died? | Bible general Archive 3 | CDBJ | 183509
Greetings Michelle123 and welcome to the forum. People that are saved, from the first one to the last one, have been saved all the exact same way and that’s by the mercy of God in action when one trusts in God’s Messiah. The only difference between the Old Testament and the New Testament saints is that we know what His name is, Jesus. They looked forward to His coming and we look back but salvation it still the same. John 8:56-58 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. 57Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? 58Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. 372 | Baptized before serving in choir | 1 Cor 12:13 | CDBJ | 183148
Greetings Azurelaw, I was once taught by a very wise pastor that there are two kinds of baptisms, “wet ones” and “dry one”. The dry ones are real and the wet ones are only ritual. John is speaking here. Matthew 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: That pastor also said that “everyone” will be baptized, either by one or the other, with the Holy Spirit or with fire and they will both be very real! Jesus is the one who will either deliver forever by salvation or destroy forever in fire. Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. John 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: As humans we can’t actually see if a person is truly saved, only God knows that but we can visually determine if people have been faithful to the Lord, by “willfully” obeying His command to be baptized. Acts 16:15 And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, ( If ye have judged me to be faithful ) to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us. So, so, so, many have gone through what we call a wet baptism and yet most don’t even have a clue what the dry one is, that actually brings a person into Christ and seals them as believers in Jesus. Ephes. 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Have a great day, CDBJ |

373 | Sign of the end - seasons? | Bible general Archive 3 | CDBJ | 183059
Greetings T. I think, what you posted is in reference to verse seven in the following but it isn’t suggesting that we won’t know what season it is; Rather, Christ’s answer was a reply to the question of the disciples, “wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?” Acts 1:6-8 . 6When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? 7And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. 8But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. 374 | Virgin Mary | NT general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 182941
There was a group of people that talked to Jesus and they wanted to know what it was that they “could do” that would please GOD. Notice John 6:28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? John 6:29-30 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. 30They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work? John 20:30-31 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: 31But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. 1 John 5:10-13 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 11And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. Memorize this verses and then ask the Lord if you are right or wrong, let Gods Word be the master of your instruction. CDBJ |

375 | Books | Bible general Archive 3 | CDBJ | 182939
Greetings and welcome to the forum, There are hundreds of different translations of the Bible and the ones that generally have additional book are primarily found in the Old Testament. The Jews were masters at retaining God’s Word as they have it recorded and as referred to by Christians as the Old Testament. The additional books that you have mention were not accepted as Scripture by the Jews of old but they are historical Jewish writings that are very dear to the Jews, yet they should not to be confused as being Scripture or inspired by God. God Word is the final say wherever and whenever it comes to a doctrinal issue. 2 Tim. 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 2 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 1 Tim. 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; I hope you enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

376 | Luke 23:43....TIME? | NT general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 182915
Greetings Cuddle, The Koine Greet of the verse reads, which is strange in the English reads, And he said to him, truly I say, today with me you will be in paradise. Emphasis is on the word paradise which is PARADEISO, in the Koine; the word for heaven is, OURANOS pronounce, oo-ran-os. Ephes. 4:8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. Up until such time as the lamb of God would accomplished the perfect sacrifice, which would “take away” man’s sin, once for ever, mankind had to enter a temporary quarters know as Abrahams bosom or paradise. Paradise housed all of the departed souls of mankind and it contained three sections, Paradise, a great gulf fixed which separated those in torments from those that put all of their hope in God’s Messiah that was to deliver them. Luke 16:19-31 When Christ departed from his body he released those that where held captive in paradise. Paul tells us that when we depart now from our earthly bodies now we will be face to face with the Lord. 2 Cor. 5:6-8 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: 7(For we walk by faith, not by sight:) 8We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Have a great day, CDBJ |

378 | YE SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES | Bible general Archive 3 | CDBJ | 182675
Greetings and welcome to the forum, You question about, John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. It is the same today as it was when Jesus spoke the words. There are more people “assumingly” practicing Christianity now day that are totally oblivious to what true Christianity is all about. i.e. They haven’t really had a real “living experience” with the living Christ! Nicodemus would be a prime example being a Pharisee and knowing the scripture as he did; yet he hadn’t come to the place of the complete dependence on God’s Messiah for eternal life. John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. The answer to your question is answered in the very next verse. John 5:40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life. The majority of so called Christians today don’t fully understand that eternal life is actually a “gift from God” and is “given as a gift” when one puts “all of their trust and desire” for eternal life in the person of God’s Son, Jesus the appointed one. 379 | 1 ass or 2- in jesus triumphal entry | Bible general Archive 3 | CDBJ | 182608
Greetings and welcome to the forum, I believe you must have meant, Matthew 21:5 Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass. Matthew 21:7 And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon. The emphasis is only on the one that’s being ridden. Compare Matthew with the following. Zech. 9:9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass. If there were two animals mentioned then there surely had to be one. The emphasis is on the one that had never been ridden, not its mother therefore the other gospels didn’t actually go into the details or give all the facts. I hope you enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

380 | Gracious Humility? | Phil 2:3 | CDBJ | 182604
Hi WOS, The only thing I can think of would be in, 1 Peter 5:5 (KJV) Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. 1 Peter 5:5 (NASB) You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE.
