304 | We can trust in the bible? | Bible general Archive 3 | CDBJ | 193169
Hi Howierocker and welcome to the forum. We can fully trust the Bible, God’s Word because we are told the following. 2 Tim. 3:16 (KJV) All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: In the chapter that precedes this we are told the following. 2 Tim. 2:15 (KJV) Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Couple those verses with this one; Psalm 119:160 (NASB) The sum of Thy word is truth, And every one of Thy righteous ordinances is everlasting. What that is telling us is that we don’t have truth on any particular doctrine until we consider “all” of God’s Word on any given subject. I hope you benefit from the forum, CDBJ |

305 | Can an unbaptised christian make Heaven | 1 Cor 12:13 | CDBJ | 193093
Greetings, Here is one you might think about. There is no such thing as a Christian that isn’t baptized! Why? What made them a Christian in the first place? Believing in, relying on, and trusting in Jesus, nothing more nothing less. What people don’t realize is that water baptism is only a ritual and causes divisions within Christian ranks. The baptism that unifies “all” believers in Jesus is that which God Himself performs and man can’t do anything to mess it up, i.e. the baptism of the Spirit. Ephes. 4:5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, Results: Jesus, faith in Jesus, the result is the unifying baptism by Jesus with the Holy Spirit. Ephes. 1:13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation-- having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, Combine that promise with the next two. 1 Cor. 12:13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit. Matthew 3:11 "As for me, I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, and I am not fit to remove His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. Every one that has ever lived is going to be baptized with either the Holy Spirit or with the other option which isn’t very pleasant, fire. Believers and unbelievers alike will be baptized by one or the other. CDBJ |

306 | pride and ego | Matt 16:24 | CDBJ | 193077
Hi Mike, I started the same process that you are facing when I was 27 now I'm going on 70. I can give you a factual answer. 1. Exercise the function of 1John 1:9 on a moment by moment bases if needed. That keeps one teachable so that the Holy Spirit can do the teaching. 2. Read the New Testament through at least 7 times before even attempting the Old Testament and the following will take place; 2 Peter 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen. 3. This doesn’t come about by a hit or miss attitude. It must be study, study, study. 2 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. You will learn more when you try to teach others what you have learned. Find a good Bible believing church and put your self in a position where you are held accountable. I hope you enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

308 | baptism by emersion only? | Matt 3:16 | CDBJ | 192843
Hi Pogolue and welcome to the forum. This is a confusing issue with many who try to support misconstrued doctrine in their denominational ties. Try and visualize the following. Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Col. 2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. I believe this issue is very easy to resolve if one will look at it realistically. Those that hold to sprinkling as the meaning of the previous verses should only bury their physically deceased members with a hand full of dirt shortly after they die! That sounds rather repulsive doesn’t it? CDBJ |

310 | Refuse to be saved to become hypocrite | Bible general Archive 3 | CDBJ | 192352
Hi Tron613 and welcome to the forum. The answer to your question resides in the last two verses that you mentioned; verses 14 and 15, just kidding, I Cor. 5: ends at verse 13. Where exactly is it found in Scripture that God tells us that we can be saved by changing our sinful ways? The following tells us that our ways bring about death but we need the Lord to be saved! People can change their ways, as it were, but what ever they try to do to improve will still lead to death! Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. I hope you enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

311 | Origin of feelings | Bible general Archive 3 | CDBJ | 191708
Feelings are our responders not our initiators. Feelings can’t be trusted, the object to be trusted is God’s Word, it must be “thus says the Lord”. God’s truth remains the only stable object that we can trust, not our feelings! Psalm 119:160 Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever. 2 Tim. 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: No room for feelings! Proverbs 16:25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. CDBJ |

314 | Take it Literal | Mark 16:18 | CDBJ | 190247
Hello Zoe, I am having a bit of a problem with a portion of your post namely the following. You suggest: “I have no doubt of the allegorical representations contained in the Bible, but I strongly believe that faith is the binding principal concerning the integrity of the scriptures.” Man’s faith in scripture has nothing to do with the integrity of God’s Word. The integrity is in place because of the fact that ALL scripture is God inspired. The writing of God’s Word is truth not because anyone has faith in it. Whether one believes it or not doesn’t change a thing with God’s written word; He is Sovereign and what He says is truth, i.e. The Bible. 2 Tim. 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: CDBJ |

315 | The earth divided in Peleg's time? | Gen 10:25 | CDBJ | 190197
Greetings 00123, This might be the answer to your question from the, (The Bible Background Commentary)? Gen. 10:25. dividing of the earth. While this has traditionally been taken to refer to the division of the nations after the Tower of Babel incident (Genesis 11:1-9), other possibilities exist. It could, for instance, refer to a division of human communities into sedentary farmers and pastoral nomads; or, possibly a migration of peoples is documented here that drastically transformed the culture of the ancient Near East—perhaps one represented in a break-off group traveling southeast in Genesis 11:2. 318 | which book about satan castout of heaven | Revelation | CDBJ | 190108
Greetings and welcome to the forum. I believe you might be looking for the verses in Revelation. Rev. 12:7-17 And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, 8but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. 9So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. 10Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, "Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. 11And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. 12Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time." 13Now when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child. 14But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent. 15So the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood. 16But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the flood which the dragon had spewed out of his mouth. 17And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. 319 | 1 Thess 4:17/2 Thess 2:1-same event? | NT general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 189629
Greetings Chimney rock and welcome to the forum. I believe all of the following verses are speaking of the same event. 1 Thes. 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 2 Thes. 2:1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 1 Cor. 15:51-52 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. Matthew 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. Matthew 13:39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. Matthew 24:44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

320 | How did the people of the OT GO 2 HEAVEN | Bible general Archive 3 | CDBJ | 189401
Hi Lily75 and welcome to the Bible forum. The fact that Jesus died for our sin doesn’t guarantee anyone their salvation. 1 John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. Jesus satisfies the righteousness demands that God requires for sin alright but “it isn’t” credited to our account until we “rely on and fully trust in” God’s appointed one, i.e. the Messiah. There are millions of “so called Christians” that are depending on their useless, assumed, good works to get them to heaven instead of the “finished work” that Jesus performed on the cross and they will be very shocked when they find themselves in a place in Hell because they didn’t put all of their faith in Christ. Ephes. 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast. Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; The following promise is given to those that are totally trusting in Jesus God unique Son. Ephes. 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 1 John 5:10-13 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 11And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. Those of the Old Testament were saved the same exact way we are saved today, after the New Testament, we just have the privilege of knowing the Messiah’s name; Jesus. They looked forward to the coming Messiah and we look back. I hope you enjoy the forum, CDBJ |
