304 | What Pentecostal am I? | Bible general Archive 2 | CDBJ | 139685
Greetings and welcome to the forum, In all of that testimony I didn’t read where you were a child of God and or a believer in Jesus. There are no tags on me, other then the fact that I am a son of God by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Why do you feel that you have to pigeonhole yourself; isn’t just being in the family of God and knowing for sure that you are secure in Christ, by the work of God through His Son enough? What are you looking for and why is it important unless you aren’t secure yet in Christ? CDBJ |

305 | Shed some light | Bible general Archive 2 | CDBJ | 140687
Hi lionheart, There is actually more Scripture in the Bible that talks about the second coming of Christ then there is Scripture that talks about His first coming! To reiterate everything that has been said on this forum, with regards to the second coming of Christ, and or the rapture, would be obviously ridiculous. You might want to check out the following site, unless you have preconceived ideas already and are too steadfast to be moved. I try to make it a point that if someone can prove something to me using Scripture I will give it an honest hearing. There is enough in this web site to keep you going for weeks! http://www.solagroup.org/ Have a great day, CDBJ |

306 | Study Questions on 1 Samuel? | Bible general Archive 2 | CDBJ | 140746
Almost every verse in the Bible answers a question. You just have to come up with the right question that the verse answers. The verses of Scripture will answer one of the following and some times several. Who, What, Where, When, Why, How and Did. Example ------------ John 11:35 Jesus wept Where is the shortest verse in the Bible? Did Jesus ever cry? Who is weeping in the verse? Was God weeping or was it His humanity? Some think it’s not manly to weep, Where, is a good example of What God think of this? Do you get the picture? CDBJ |

308 | Does all scripture mean the same to all | Bible general Archive 2 | CDBJ | 140988
All Scripture has a primary interpretation and many verses have practical applications. I think the most important point that could be made is the understanding of scripture at face value with the knowledge of figures of speech. CDBJ |

309 | Which greek texts were used in the NASB? | Bible general Archive 2 | CDBJ | 141044
Greetings pshaw and welcome to the forum, This is a question that should probably be directed to the Lockman foundation since 1, they are they founders of this forum, and 2, the NASB is their translation! The members of this forum are just average everyday people like you that enjoy talking about the precious Word of God, the Bible, and it’s main subject Jesus Christ! Have a great day, CDBJ |

310 | Genesis 1-27 | Bible general Archive 2 | CDBJ | 141338
Hi Robina and welcome to the forum, With the reasoning that you have, that man was created a three part being, body, soul, spirit; what part of man died the day that he, Adam, ate of the forbidden fruit? Maybe this will help you answer you own question? Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in “the day” that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. Adam died “the very day” that he ate of the fruit of knowledge of good and evil, yet the following verse says that he lived to be 930, what gives? Genesis 5:5 And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died. These two previous verses add up to the following verses. 1 Cor. 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Cor. 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Have a great day, CDBJ |

312 | Differce between Old and New Testament | Bible general Archive 2 | CDBJ | 143871
Greetings Croat and welcome to the forum, The Old Testament points forward to the coming of God’s Messiah; The New Testament points back to when He came and who He is and it tells us of our need and responsibility to put all of our hope and trust in the work that God did for us through the person of His Son Jesus. Example in one book, John, John 20:30-31 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: 31But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. 313 | 2 questions | Bible general Archive 2 | CDBJ | 143941
Hi Leslie N, Your question is so long it would take a whole volume on Christian Apologetics to answer it. Try breaking you question down to about one or two at the most topics and you might have better results! I noticed in your personal profile the following statement, “To be a christian I actually gave away all I possessed” How, if I may ask, does one become a Christian by giving stuff away; that’s a new one on me? Wouldn’t that kind of be like works? Have a great day, CDBJ |

314 | Where did the OT believers go before? | Bible general Archive 2 | CDBJ | 152373
Greetings dssjv2002 and welcome to the forum. The answer to your question is found in the book of Luke 16:19-37 Those that trusted God and his Messiah to come went to paradise, or what the Jews called Abrahams bosom. Those that didn’t have faith in the Messiah of God went into a place of torment. Since the Messiah hadn’t come yet, the Old Testament, the sins of those believers was only covered and not removed, as are those since Jesus paid the price in full. I.e. John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. John the Baptist knew that Messiah would completely remove sin, which was something that the animal sacrifices of the Old Testament couldn’t do. John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. Hebrews 10:1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. Hebrews 10:4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. When a true believer in Jesus dies now the following is true. 2 Cor. 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. The word “present” actually means to be face to face with or at home with the lord; Jesus make it all possible. 2 Cor. 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. Praise the Lord and have a nice day, CDBJ |

315 | A right of passage? | Bible general Archive 2 | CDBJ | 153617
Greetings Lionheart, This might be a different slant on what John meant when he said, Matthew 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: It’s possible that John the Baptist didn’t have a clue about what would happen on the day of Pentecost, yet he knew that Jesus would baptize (everyone) that was standing there that day. There were many in the crowed that day that would never believe in Christ and receive the baptism of the Spirit and be sealed. Ephes. 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Those that didn’t believe in Christ, that were stand before John that day, would receive a baptism of fire. Rev. 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. The baptism that John spoke of in Matt 3:11 could be the one baptism that would unify all believers thus we have, Ephes. 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, Have a great day, CDBJ |

316 | Which Church of JESUS CHRIST js HIS ? | Bible general Archive 2 | CDBJ | 154994
Greetings obi1kanobi, I don’t know if I understand your question; it’s very hard to assimilate the flow of your question when it is so broken up with upper and lower case, but I will try. The church that is spoken of by Jesus in, Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. This is the same church that we see mentioned in, Acts 2:47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. It’s interesting to note that the ones that are added are of the ranks of the saved. This isn’t always the case with regards to a denomination or of a local assembly or organization, which we consider as a church. The church that is spoken of in Matthew isn’t an organization but an organism, or body, with emphasis on the head, which is Christ. Ephes. 2:21-22 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: [22] In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit. People “could be” a member of “a” church but yet not be a member of “the” church. The only way to be a member of the church that Jesus is building is by personal trust and faith in the person of God’s Son Jesus Christ i.e. the saved. Have a great day, CDBJ |

317 | BIBLE (mens ) FAULTS | Bible general Archive 2 | CDBJ | 155282
Friend, I would like to say that you are a real piece of work. You have the privilege of fellowshipping with people that believe the Bible, on a forum that is supported by a Bible translators, The Lockman Foundation. You have not ceased from insulting their efforts since you started posting. It smacks of the quintessence of rudeness and arrogance like one that is invited to sit at a man’s table and dine, and the invited guest does nothing but complain about the food that the host is serving! If the Bible, that we all love so much, is so appalling to you why don’t you just write you own version so it can be scrutinized by the Hebrew and Greek scholars that make up the mainstream of the translators today. Excuse me sir but I firmly believe you are out of line! Enjoy the meal, CDBJ |

I am assuming that you are referring to the suffix, “ites”, as in Canaanites? 320 | how do you explain romans 9:13? | Bible general Archive 2 | CDBJ | 155416
Hi nealgreen and welcome to the forum, Your question Romans 9:13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. I would suppose, as usual, that your question is about the word hate as used in the passage? The word hate, or MISEO in the Koine Greek, is what is known as an “anthropopathisum.” It attributes to God, a human characteristic that God doesn’t actually have, but for the express purpose of understanding the feelings and function of God, words of accommodation are used, such as hate. Actually God isn’t able to do the things for Esau the way He can for Jacob because of God’s perfect character and the fact that Esau hasn’t placed himself in God’s keeping through unbelief. Jacob trusted in and believed in God and as result God is able to do the most for him. Jacob believed in the coming Messiah and looked forward to the time when God was going to send Him. On the other hand we look back at when the Messiah came and we even know his name, Jesus. If one doesn’t trust in God’s Messiah or Christ there is nothing God can do for them. The difference would be on God’s part, in human terms, like love and hate. Romans 8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Everyone isn’t a child of God, as is so commonly suggested. The key to being a child of God resides in the person of God’s Son Jesus and having total undivided faith in him. Galatians 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. John 1:11-12 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. [12] But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Another way to look at Romans 9:13 would be to use the words hot and cold; they being opposite in nature. God is hot towards those that trust in His Son Jesus the Christ and very cold toward those those aren’t relying on Jesus and the work that He did for them on the cross. I hope that I haven’t confused you! Have a great day, CDBJ |
