Greetings Teppie2007 as another newcomer to the forum. The actual word “church” as found in the New Testament didn’t actually begin until the day of Pentecost. Christ made first mention of it though in the following. Matthew 16:18 (NASB) "And I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades shall not overpower it. CDBJ |

244 | How did the people of the OT GO 2 HEAVEN | Bible general Archive 3 | CDBJ | 189401
Hi Lily75 and welcome to the Bible forum. The fact that Jesus died for our sin doesn’t guarantee anyone their salvation. 1 John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. Jesus satisfies the righteousness demands that God requires for sin alright but “it isn’t” credited to our account until we “rely on and fully trust in” God’s appointed one, i.e. the Messiah. There are millions of “so called Christians” that are depending on their useless, assumed, good works to get them to heaven instead of the “finished work” that Jesus performed on the cross and they will be very shocked when they find themselves in a place in Hell because they didn’t put all of their faith in Christ. Ephes. 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast. Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; The following promise is given to those that are totally trusting in Jesus God unique Son. Ephes. 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 1 John 5:10-13 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 11And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. Those of the Old Testament were saved the same exact way we are saved today, after the New Testament, we just have the privilege of knowing the Messiah’s name; Jesus. They looked forward to the coming Messiah and we look back. I hope you enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

Hello Sandra and welcome to the forum. The answer to your question resides in several very popular verses. 2 Tim. 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. 2 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. I hope you enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

247 | Origin of feelings | Bible general Archive 3 | CDBJ | 191706
Feelings are our responders not our initiators. Feelings can’t be trusted, the object to be trusted is God’s Word, it must be “thus says the Lord”. God’s truth remains the only stable object that we can trust, not our feelings! Psalm 119:160 Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever. 2 Tim. 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: No room for feelings! Proverbs 16:25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. CDBJ |

Hi Tron613 and welcome to the forum. The answer to your question resides in the last two verses that you mentioned; verses 14 and 15, just kidding, I Cor. 5: ends at verse 13. Where exactly is it found in Scripture that God tells us that we can be saved by changing our sinful ways? The following tells us that our ways bring about death but we need the Lord to be saved! People can change their ways, as it were, but what ever they try to do to improve will still lead to death! Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. I hope you enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

251 | We can trust in the bible? | Bible general Archive 3 | CDBJ | 193169
Hi Howierocker and welcome to the forum. We can fully trust the Bible, God’s Word because we are told the following. 2 Tim. 3:16 (KJV) All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: In the chapter that precedes this we are told the following. 2 Tim. 2:15 (KJV) Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Couple those verses with this one; Psalm 119:160 (NASB) The sum of Thy word is truth, And every one of Thy righteous ordinances is everlasting. What that is telling us is that we don’t have truth on any particular doctrine until we consider “all” of God’s Word on any given subject. I hope you benefit from the forum, CDBJ |

255 | Where is America headed right now? | Bible general Archive 3 | CDBJ | 194056
Greetings WW and welcome to the forum. It seems like everybody has a prediction and they are but a guess at best. The Bible has proven itself over the thousands of years of testing and has always proven to be reliable. It points to one specific person and emphasizes faith and reliance on Him and what He did for the world; that being the person of Jesus, God’s appointed one. I know a lot of so called predictions look accurate and seem reliable but the only one you can really trust in is God, and what He did for mankind in the person of His Son. Have you come to the place yet in your life where you have trusted in the person of Jesus for all your future needs? Being a Bible forum we can lead you in that direction if you would be interested? Enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

257 | are you required to be baptisted again | Bible general Archive 2 | CDBJ | 93171
Falling away, when you stop and think about it, can happen the very moment after one believes in Jesus. Falling away is the very instant that we commit our first sin after the point of salvation but that is not to say that God has forsaken us. Can we say that our sins are more refined then someone else’s therefore we haven’t fallen away, not hardly! Go has made some great promises to the believers in His Son. Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. Some just take a lot longer to use I John then others, but that isn’t to say that they aren’t saved, but they are defiantly out of fellowship! 1 John 1:7-10 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 8If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. Now to the baptism issue; what really counts, as baptism goes isn’t even wet, as with water, it is dry and is accomplished for the believer in Jesus automatically at the very moment that they place their faith in Christ. 1 Cor. 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. The previous verse is the sequel to the following verse. Ephes. 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Assuming anything meritorious, that we might do, such as water baptism, is the antithesis to faith in Christ. The key to salvation is faith alone in Christ alone and anything we might do after that is MERELY RITUAL. We can’t improve one bit on the finish work of Christ by some puny thing that we attempt to do to help God with our salvation. It is a 100 percent done deal and Jesus gets all the credit. It isn’t 99 percent Jesus and 1 percent us with water baptism, It’s all Jesus or none at all; and those who assume differently are going to be in for a real shock some day, but if God doesn’t reveal this to them they aren’t in His family anyway so why bother trying to convince them, it can’t be done! Have a great day, CDBJ |

258 | is the devil still in haven | Bible general Archive 2 | CDBJ | 96714
It is my understanding that the devil isn’t bared from heaven until Rev. 12:12, during the great time of persecution and the last 3 ½ years of 7 years known as the time of Jacob’s trouble or the great tribulation, where he will demand the worship of the world. Rev. 12:12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. Luke 21:22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. 2 Thes. 2:3-4 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. Rev. 13:16-18 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: 17And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. 18Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six. Matthew 24:15-22 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 16Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: 17Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: 18Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. 19And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! 20But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: 21For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened 2 Thes. 1:6-10 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; 7And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, 8In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; 10When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. They all tie together so that we aren’t in darkness being believers that study God’s Word as we are commanded. 1 Thes. 5:4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Have a great day, CDBJ |

260 | Why should we pray? | Bible general Archive 2 | CDBJ | 106553
Did you ever stop and think that they might not know the Lord personally, and if they don’t, the Lord won’t hear their prayer anyway; at least they aren’t being hypocrites? Don’t try to force something onto people that haven’t had a personal relationship with the living Lord. That’s like getting a shot for the flu; the virus that you get is dead and inoperative so that your body wards off the real thing. Matthew 7:20-23 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. 21Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. It sounds to me like they need Jesus, not just an imitation and a life style that mimics things that believers do! Sitting in a garage all day won’t make you an automobile, just because they do things that a believer do won't give them a living spirit. 1 Cor. 2:1-2 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. 2For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. Feed them a large dose of the book of John. John 20:30-31 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: 31But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
