281 | The Father ,the Son and the Holy spirit, | Bible general Archive 2 | CDBJ | 119408
Hi shadow thorn, God by his very nature, or attribute, isn’t able to die so that’s why he had to become a man. God became a man (Jesus) to pay a debt that he didn’t owe because mankind owed a debt that he couldn’t pay. The wages of sin is separation from God forever. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. What a fantastic gift!!!!!!!! 2 Cor. 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. Now there’s a real trade, Jesus got our sin and when we trust in him for eternal life He gives us His righteousness. Is that real love in action or what? Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Ephes. 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Have a great day, CDBJ |

282 | What is the Dark Ages | Bible general Archive 2 | CDBJ | 119449
I am going to stick my neck out and say the period of time know as the dark ages was the time when the gospel of grace was hidden from the average person; likely from 300 AD up to the time of the reformation. I think I need help on this one as I am guessing on the dates. I know a little about the Bible but I am not a historian! CDBJ

Hi Mikec and welcome to the forum! All of the Bibles you have mentioned are good read them all and compare! I would like to suggest that you get an Amplified Bible for a better meaning and fuller understanding but use them all and study, study, study! 2 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Find a church that teaches the Word and get into the original languages of the Bible and break it down word for word! CDBJ |

Hi Mikec, Me again what ever you do, be like those mentioned in the following; Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. If any on this forum prescribe a particular denomination avoided them like the plague, stick with Jesus and God’s Word and you can’t miss. There are believers in all, so called Christian denominations, but it isn’t due to the denomination it’s due to the fact that they have put all their faith in what Jesus has done for them in spite of their denomination!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 286 | Deuteronomy 29: 23 | Bible general Archive 2 | CDBJ | 119715
Here is an answer to your question from the Bible Knowledge Commentary. 3. THE CURSES FOR DISOBEDIENCE (29:16-29) 29:16-18. Moses reminded the Israelites that they were not naive concerning idolatry. They had seen it in Egypt and had fallen into idolatry on the way to the Promised Land (Ex. 32; Num. 25). They had seen the pagans’ detestable… idols. They knew how one idolatrous man… woman, clan, or tribe could defile many with the bitter poison of idolatry (cf. Heb. 12:15). “Poison” is literally, “wormwood,” a plant known for its bitter pulp and often associated with poison (cf. Amos 5:7; 6:12; Jer. 9:15; 23:15). Therefore they were told to be extremely vigilant against this sin when they entered the land of Canaan and faced new temptations to idolatry. 29:19-21. An idolatrous “root” (cf. v. 18) might take hold in Israel through a single person who, under the cloak of anonymity, might think he was safe from judgment because the LORD had said Israel was His people. This idolatrous root, however, would flower into a general apostasy that would bring forth God’s judgment. All Israelites would suffer in the judgment (this will bring disaster on the watered land as well as the dry). A person who introduced such idolatry into Israel could never escape the consequences of his sin. All the curses… in Deuteronomy would fall upon him and he would have no male heir to carry on his name, for it would be blotted out. No sin is unknown before the omniscient LORD (cf. Heb. 4:13). 29:22-28. Judgment would fall, however, not only on the one who introduced idolatry but also on the whole nation because they let themselves be swept away by the false worship. The future judgment (calamities and diseases on the land; cf. 28:22b, 59-61) would be so severe that it was compared to the judgment that fell on Sodom and Gomorrah, and Admah and Zeboiim. These last two cities, near Sodom and Gomorrah, were in a treaty with them (Gen. 14:2). The land would be covered with salt and sulfur and therefore be unproductive. This comprehensive judgment must refer to the devastation in the Assyrian and Babylonian invasions. The devastation would be so complete that the nations would ask why Israel’s God in anger had let it happen (Deut. 29:24). The answer would be that Israel had abandoned the Mosaic Covenant by committing idolatry. Even their false worship would prove the truth of God’s Word, for the curses… in this book would come on them just as He had promised. Because they had gone off and bowed down to false gods (cf. 30:17), God in His anger would uproot them and take them into exile. Then they would bow to their captors. 29:29. The secret things of the LORD probably refer to future details that God had not revealed. Yet what He had revealed (e.g., future judgment for disobedience, future blessing for obedience, His requirements for holiness, etc.) was enough to encourage the Israelites to follow all the words of the Law. 287 | Whats the laws purpose? | Bible general Archive 2 | CDBJ | 124449
The law is supposed to bring us, as it were, to the end of our rope. So that we know that there is nothing that we can do, no matter how hard we try, that will gain us salvation. We are all condemned in God's eyes! Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; The law shows us that we are helpless apart for God’s intervention through the finish work of His So Jesus Christ. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. No one, of the seed of Adam, is able to keep the law because of their old sin nature which is mans weakness. Romans 8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: Galatians 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. The word schoolmaster was translated from the Koine Greek word PAIDAGOGOS, which was a servant tutor whose function it was to teach underlings of the master the proper ways and start them in the right direction. Ephes. 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast. 1 John 5:10-13 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. [11] And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. [12] He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. [13] These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. The answer to your question isn’t a black and white biblically stated answer, but from scripture certain things can be deduced. Ephes. 4:11-12 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; [12] For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: In a perfect scenario these functions are found operating in the local church, or a least they should be. In most cases face to face fellowship and worship is conducted in the local assembly. Matthew 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. As suggested by Matt. 18:20, church “could be” as few as two Christians getting together to celebrate the Lord ’s Table, if needs be! The term, church, leaves a lot of latitude, biblically speaking! 1 Cor. 11:26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come. Notice it says, as often, not designating how often but when. Acts 20:7 would suggest when it was done. Acts 20:7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight. If one is looking for an excuse not to fellowship with other Christians I would imagine there are many verses that could be distorted, but that’s like not going to the grocery store to find food, it just plain doesn’t make sense, be it Saturday or Sunday! It would appear, from your own statement, that you haven’t spent as much time as is necessary, in God’s word, to be proficient yet. You stated, “I find that with my limited capability of understanding of the Bible, my question is still very much intact.” Just what is it that you seem to be looking for in a, “Sunday service”, and how far have you come with your, shall we say, spiritual endeavor? Have you come to the place yet where you can say for sure, if you were to die this day that you would go to the heaven that the Bible speaks of? I know that sounds like a sobering thought but if you were to die today and God where to ask you, why should I let you into my heaven, what would you tell Him; what do you think you would say, from what you know about the Bible? Have a great day, CDBJ |

Greetings, I will try to answer your questions as you asked them. You Asked, 1.You attend Sunday Service-do you feel that there is something or someone compelling you to attend? Answer. Yes, the Lord has compelled me from His Word. Hebrews 10:23-25 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) [24] And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: [25] Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. 2.You attend Sunday Service because you see that most Christians go to Sunday Service regularly, so you also want to make your present felt? Answer. What most Christians do is their own business, it’s between them and the Lord. My presence being felt is inconsequential! My object for attending service is for face to face teaching from one who has the gift of pastor teacher; who can instruct me by exegetes from Bible doctrine, and to have close Christian fellowship. 3.You attend Sunday Service because you feel the feeling-good feeling? Answer. I sure don’t go for any feel good feeling!!!! I go to learn from one who is more skilled in the knowledge of the Bible then I am; from one who has the ability to communicate truth from God’s Word. One can’t trust their feeling, they can let you down! There are always two sides to feelings and feeling can’t be trusted, but God’s word and His promises will never let you down. I also attend Sunday services to be with others that have had the same personal experience with God that I have had and we bolster one another with God's promises and they way He pulls us through hard times being faithful to His word. You are the first person that I have ever talked with that didn’t have a clue as to what they would say to the question that I proposed. My question was, If you were to die to-day and God were to ask you, why should I let you into my heaven, what would you tell Him. You better give it some strong thought because you might take your last breath today; I hope not, but who knows what tomorrow might bring? God might require an answer from you tomorrow!! Example, Luke 12:19-20 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. [20] But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? Luke 11:9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Have a great day, and I hope you find what you think you are looking for? CDBJ Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. |

You have used one of the oldest debaters techniques in the books, by trying to answer my question with the same question directed back. The records show that I ask you that series of afore mentioned questions first, post #127812, and you refuse to reciprocate in kind. It sounds like our discussion is finished since you don’t wish to respond. James 4:6 (B) God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Your previous post, “Yes, Time does not wait for man. Your answears are therefore urgently awaited, so that many children of God will learn from you in good time.” Answer (All) of the (true) children of God already know the answer to that question or they wouldn’t be the children of God in the first place. The Bible clearly says who the children of God are and that was the reason for my asking you the question in the first place, to see if you have had that relationship with the Lord in your life yet! Jesus was speaking, Mark 4:11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: If you would like to have the relationship with God, that the Bible speaks of, I can help you find it but one must first be open and truthful! I became a child of God in 1965 at the age of 27 and it is the most fantastic thing that has ever happened to me and I know, as with thousands of others, that I will be ushered into God's heaven, with out a shadow of doubt, when I finally take my last breath; and the Sunday services that you mentioned, had nothing to do with it, nor did any church!!! Hello, and welcome to the forum. You know what they say, every one gets there day in court, as it were. When do you suppose, those that pass away during the millennium, will stand in judgment if it isn’t during the great white throne judgment? Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: I know what we have all been lead to assume, about Rev. 20:11-15, but it's food for thought isn't it? CDBJ |

Greetings goef, Your questions are along the subject of eschatology, which is my favorite Biblical subject! There is a great book out, and one that has answered almost all of my puzzling questions and cleared up so many scriptures about future times and events that will take place on earth; you might want to get a copy. The book is called “The Sign” by Robert Van Kampen. Bob just passed away a few years ago, it seems that after he completed the book that his job here on earth was finished so the Lord took him home! There is a great web site also, that contains Bob’s teachings. http://www.solagroup.org/ Have a great day, CDBJ |

Greetings and welcome to the forum, In response to your question, in part, you suggest, “Can we say that at the time of the crucifixion that he did not die and that he was alive for three days in the tomb and the third day he arose?” Well, not trying to appear blunt, but we can take just about any Scripture and twist it around to say what we want but it doesn’t mean that it is true the way we say it. All Scripture must be considered in order to establish a true doctrine. Psalm 119:160 The sum of thy word is truth; (ASV) And every one of thy righteous ordinances endureth for ever. Jesus actually died as per Paul. 1 Cor. 15:1-8 Now I make known unto you brethren, the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye received, wherein also ye stand, [2] by which also ye are saved, if ye hold fast the word which I preached unto you, except ye believed in vain. [3] For I delivered unto you first of all that which also I received: that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; [4] and that he was buried; and that he hath been raised on the third day according to the scriptures; [5] and that he appeared to Cephas; then to the twelve; [6] then he appeared to above five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain until now, but some are fallen asleep; [7] then he appeared to James; then to all the apostles; [8] and last of all, as to the child untimely born, he appeared to me also. If more Scripture is needed I will be happy to list more. Have a great day, CDBJ |

Greetings Dalcent and welcome to the forum, Have you come to the place yet, in your spiritual experience, where you can say for sure that you would spend eternity in heaven if you were to die suddenly, possibly within the next minute or two? I realize that is an awesome thought but if you were to stand before God in the next few minutes and He were to say to you, why should I let you come into my kingdom, what do you think you would say to Him?
