321 | Mistaken View Or False Doctrine? | Eph 1:13 | stjohn | 205284
Dear Tamara: Salvation, equals believing in Jesus, plus nothing. Repenting and believing are the same, you cant believe without a change of mind which is what repentance means. Tarrying at the altar to get tongues, is clearly not taught in Scripture. Sorry, but I don't really see anything, substantively efficacious, by having further discussion. You can check the archives and read for days. :-) God bless John |

322 | Divorced Do Christians Get Remarried? | 1 Cor 6:9 | stjohn | 205282
Dear Tamara: If a person marries a divorced person, who has divorced for any reason other then adultery, (According to our Lord) It would be a sin. Note; however, that it would not be right to then get a divorce to try to right that sin (i.e. to wrongs etc,) If you repent of the sin you are forgiven. You do not remain in sin to stay married. If a spouse commits adultery and repents, you are to forgive them and move on. However, if that spouse does not repent, (i.e. keeps on doing what they are doing, without intent to change.) then you may divorce (According to our Lord) and remarry if you chose, to a one that has not been married or widowed or is not divorced for the wrong reason. Anyway, that's the way I see it. I hope it helps you. God bless John |

323 | Just needing a little more insight | Col 2:18 | stjohn | 205231
Hi Sandy: The only ministering spirit that we as Christians have need of is, The Holy Spirit. Anyone that tells you they see or hear from Angels is a fraud! This verse is telling us that those that do that are puffed up with vain pride and do not know the word of God. Angels are not needed today at all for teaching God's children, they are messengers of God of course, but today, we, as Children of God, have the Holy Spirit, and the Word of God, to lead and teach us. Anyone who tells you otherwise, is teaching a false gospel, and leading any who will listen astray. Please do not hesitate to ask more questions if you need to. God bless you in your study of His Holy Word. I hope this helps you God bless John |

325 | What was the Question ! ! | Romans | stjohn | 205005
Lookin: The question was indeed answered. It seems that the rest of this thread is in response to some obvious exegetical errors. Given the content of your posts, I doubt that many would be surprised, that you would find it strange that many of us care very deeply, about sound doctrinal exegesis. Shalom John |

326 | Make a Decision | Rev 3:20 | stjohn | 204967
Dear Lookin... Well, If it's not a call to salvation, I honestly don't know what is. Rev 3:14-20 in my opinion is one of the grandest calls to salvation in all of Scripture, apart from the Cross of Christ itself. Indeed it is The Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit that indwells us when we are born again, that truly reveals to our depraved heart, that we are indeed, wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked. why my friend, it is that same Spirit of God, The Holy Spirit, that in this way reveals to us, that we need a saviour, and thats the revelation of God to our heart that calls us to Salvation. And it is indeed that same Spirit of God, that is that very "salve", that opens our spiritual eyes, that we may see that we are being called to Salvation. And may I say, what is the difference between making a decision, and being called, as one would simply not hapen with the other? For is it not the Spirit of God that reveals to us that we are being called to salvation and need to make that disision? Shalom John |

327 | Why did Jesus not want the evil spirits | Bible general Archive 4 | stjohn | 204945
Hi SBG: Welcome to the forum! That is a good question, and one that Scripture doesn't give a clear answer. Of course their are some wags that will try to explain it, but speculation will not clear up the ambiguity of this part of Scripture. Here are some other verses that you can read contextually and see for your-self. Jesus tells others the same thing, followers, and Apostles, alike, and I've chewed on this a bit, as have many, many others, and I've never come across a clear explanation nor in MHO has anyone else. One of those, Dut 29:29 things. The secret things of God, belong to God. Matt 9:30, Matt 12:16, Mark 8:30, Luke 9:21 Shalom and God bless John |

328 | Help! Unclean vs clean meat? | Acts | stjohn | 204903
Hi LRP.... Welcome to the forum! Here are some Scriptures that I hope will ease your worries. I would suggest to go ahead and eat what you like. Acts 10:9 On the next day, as they were on their way and approaching the city, Peter went up on the housetop about the sixth hour to pray. v10 But he became hungry and was desiring to eat; but while they were making preparations, he fell into a trance; v11 and he *saw the sky opened up, and an object like a great sheet coming down, lowered by four corners to the ground, v12and there were in it all kinds of four-footed animals and crawling creatures of the earth and birds of the air. v13 A voice came to him, "Get up, Peter, kill and eat!" v14 But Peter said, "By no means, Lord, for I have never eaten anything unholy and unclean." v15 Again a voice came to him a second time, "What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy." v16 This happened three times, and immediately the object was taken up into the sky. I hpoe this helps Shalom and God bless John |

331 | Wisdom functions in OT? | Prov 1:7 | stjohn | 204551
Tam: Apart from God's wisdom, which of course is perfect: not very well! Sorry about no scriptural references, but since we are generalizing anyway, as per your question: my love of brevity compels me! :-) "When there are many words, transgression is unavoidable, But he who restrains his lips is wise." Prov 10:19 Eccl 5:2-3 Shalom and God bless John |

334 | REV 11 The Temple stands yet destroyed | Rev 1:11 | stjohn | 204538
R.C. In the verse above, and again below, John is told, explicitly by The Lord to: write in in a book what he sees: and nowhere in, The Revelation of Jesus Christ, is he given instructions to do otherwise! By not mentioning the events of 70 A.D. he is simply being obedient to the Lord. Shouldn't we do the same and not read into it, what is NOT there? Indeed there is a grave warning about this very thing contained in (Rev 22:18) that many expositors fail to head! Rev 1:11 saying, "Write in a book what you see, and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea." It is very clear what John's instructions are! And remember: NONE of it is John's idea! Shalom John |

338 | Is Jesus "son of David"? | Mark 12:35 | stjohn | 204329
Hi Budder.. His lineage was not in question, so Jesus isn't saying He is not in the line of David, He is quoting from the old testament Psalm 110:1 and Psalm 2:7 and I believe He was using these Scriptures simply to show His deity. I hope this helps God bless John |

340 | what does kingdom mean in the bible | Bible general Archive 4 | stjohn | 204298
Hi mbsmith: Welcome to the forum! This is taken from, Easton's Bible Dictionary Kingdom Of God (Matthew 6:33; Mark 1:14, 15; Luke 4:43) "kingdom of Christ" (Matthew 13:41; 20:21) "kingdom of Christ and of God" (Ephesians 5:5) "kingdom of David" (Mark 11:10) "the kingdom" (Matthew 8:12; 13:19) "kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 3:2; 4:17; 13:41), all denote the same thing under different aspects, viz.: (1) Christ's mediatorial authority, or his rule on the earth; (2) the blessings and advantages of all kinds that flow from this rule; (3) the subjects of this kingdom taken collectively, or the Church. God bless John |
