404 | do you believe that God's does evil? | Bible general Archive 4 | stjohn | 199604
Hi Gb Sence God is soveren, and, being soverin means He is the controller of everiething, and, everiething would be includeing evil, and, God is love, and, scripture says, love does no evil, and, it also says God is Good, and, sence good is antonim for evil.... etc. Well. as you can see, it can be argued both ways. God is Good, and, perfectly good. No, He does no evil. God bless John |

405 | Thumbs and toes cut off | Judg 1:6 | stjohn | 199598
Dear Budderfligh, I don't think there is any connection between Judges 1:17 And Lev 8:24 It's seems to me, the book of Judges just reveals to us the depravity, cruelty, and unwilling heart of man to do things God's way and seek Him for our answers. Judg 21:25 In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes. God bless John |

406 | Bride and Guests at Lamb's Wedding | Revelation | stjohn | 199577
Hi JoeAnn, Perhaps what we are seeing here is two different groups. The marriage supper/feast is held 'after', the wedding, isn't it. Matt 25:1-10, So Jesus, The Groom, will be showing up with the Bride, "in tow" as it were. Could be, that the invited guests, is referring to Israel, and by the way, I think it is. Of course, there are differing points of view as to wether, The Church and Israel, are even two different groups! But that's a subject for a different study. Perhaps also, using the new Jerusalem to describe, The Bride, is metaphorical for indicating who dwells there. Just like when we see the term, The World, we know it often refers to those who dwell in the world, John 3:16, and not just the world geographically. And marriage too, is, a sort of metaphor, for a union, and perhaps not a wedding as we think of a wedding between a man and a woman, Matt 19:5, Marriage is often used to describe two boards of wood that have been joined together in a way that they cannot be separated without breaking the wood, we say to describe that kind of union, that they are married together. maybe that analogy isn't so good, but it does give us small brained humans a little better idea of what God is talking about when He describes that union. We will be united with Him in a way that is even more close and wonderful then it is now! I don't know just how it works but, When we see Him we will be like Him! Our stuff will be His stuff, or, something like that. just my two cents. :-) God bless John |

407 | Dissapointment in this sites response... | Ps 16:11 | stjohn | 199537
Hmm, well,... I'd pray and ask God about that one. Just remember, if you are a child of God, you are always in His presence. Ps 41:12 I sure hope this doesn't disappoint you, but that is a very good question, especially considering all the propaganda that we see and hear about loose living being somehow good for us, in this liberal age we are living in, and in this supposedly civilized society. IMHO God bless John |

414 | As A Man Thinkeths | Mark 7:20 | stjohn | 199327
Hi NightJay, While looking at a Thesaurus under heart, we see there are quite a few results! Three definitions seem to fit what the Bible means when we see the word in that particular context. They are 1, emotions, 2, courage, and 3, essence. Now under these three definitions there is a long list of synonyms, for "emotions" we see, affection, benevolence, character, compassion, concern, disposition, emotion, feeling, gusto, humanity, inclination, love, nature, palate, pity, relish, response, sensitivity, sentiment, soul, sympathy, temperament, tenderness, understanding, and zest.-- In the number 2 definition, "courage" we see, --boldness, bravery, dauntlessness, fortitude, gallantry, guts, mettle, mind, moxie, nerve, pluck, purpose, resolution, resolve, soul, spirit, spunk, and will.-- And in the number three definition, 'essence" we see, basic, bosom, bottom line, center, central part, core, crux, focal point, focus, gist, groceries, hub, kernel, marrow, middle, nitty-gritty, nub, nucleus, pith, polestar, quick, quintessence, root, seat, and soul. Wow! pretty impressive! That's quite a word "Heart" isn't it? Well I hope that got to the "heart" of the mater as far as the meaning of heart. :-) Just a note; the word "soul' is found in all three lists of synonyms! Here are some verses that might be what you are looking for on the other question. I Pray that God open our eyes of understanding of His Holy Word. God bless John MarkĀ 7:15-23 there is nothing outside the man which can defile him if it goes into him; but the things which proceed out of the man are what defile the man. ["If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear."] When he had left the crowd and entered the house, His disciples questioned Him about the parable. And He said to them, "Are you so lacking in understanding also? Do you not understand that whatever goes into the man from outside cannot defile him, because it does not go into his heart, but into his stomach, and is eliminated?" (Thus He declared all foods clean.) And He was saying, "That which proceeds out of the man, that is what defiles the man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed the evil thoughts, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries, deeds of coveting and wickedness, as well as deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride and foolishness. All these evil things proceed from within and defile the man." |

415 | seers and prophets | Bible general Archive 4 | stjohn | 199207
oops! Sorry. The other verse I was referring to is, 2 Kings 9:22 When Joram saw Jehu, he said, Is it peace, Jehu? And he answered, How can peace exist as long as the fornications of your mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so many? It may not be in context with your question, but I think it reveals God's heart on the matter. God bless John |

Hi nandi, Welcome to the Study Bible Forum! Seers and Prophets can be the same, but that would depend greatly on, to whom you are referring! Mic 3:7 The seers will be ashamed And the diviners will be embarrassed. Indeed, they will all cover their mouths Because there is no answer from God. See verse above too. God bless John |

420 | How can I get back the fire...? | Acts 8:39 | stjohn | 198942
Brother, that just shows that you still got a fire going, or you wouldn't be asking. You may not feel the same as you did when you first got born again, but that is just a feeling, and feelings fade. Sort of like falling in love; when we first meet our lover, we feel like a seem-roller can run us over and we can just bounce back up! But that fades, and that falling in love kind of love gets replaced with a more steady, willful, active, "choosing" to love, kind of love. A brother told me he had to put rocks in his pockets so he wouldn't float away! :-) But, well, that goes away my friend. I wish I knew how to keep on that high but alas I know not. Take heart, and keep on seeking Him! Its like a roller-coaster, sometimes trilling, sometimes kinda dull. But as long as we stay on the track, we'll do ok. Acts 8:39 When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away; and the eunuch no longer saw him, but went on his way rejoicing. God bless John |
