Re : proper dress. Along the same lines - don't you think our dress can be a reflection of our repect for the Lord? I am not intending to be critical or judgemental here,but I am often surprised by the way people dress when they come to worship before the Lord. It seems that we put time and effort into the way we present ourselves to the "world" (ie work, a date, etc)but don't bother to get "fixed up" when we are going to gather to worship the Lord? I know that God does not judge by our outward appearance - but could perhaps our attention or lack of it toward the way we dress be also a reflection of our hearts toward God? Just wondering . . . Now, following your logic chain: Anytime I "get even" or take revenge when I have been wronged, I am a THIEF. I have stolen from God; this is because revenge belongs to Him (Romans 12:19 - vengence is mine, I will repay)! Therefore: A. I am a THIEF B. Thieves shall not inherit the kingdom of God. c. I will not inherit the kingdom of God. If I followed your line of reasoning (thinking in orderly,rational ways to arrive at conclusions) about Judas, I too would be condemned. How glad I am to be following Jesus! The Key word in 1 Cor 6:9-10 is "unrighteous." The unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God. I am a sinner saved by Grace. I wear the righteousness of Christ, even though I still sin. I know whom I have believed and I am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him! Jesus said, (referring to Judas) "not one of them perished but the son of perdition, so that the Scripture would be fulfilled." John 17:12. Yes, let's reason together! Gen 19:36- 38 reveals that the mothers of Lot's sons were his daughters! These girls got their father drunk and had sexual realtions with him. Was their conduct honorable? Was Lot's - or was he excused by reason of intoxication? How did the "sins of the father" visit the offspring here? Isn't it interesting to note that God gave this land (mentioned in Deut 2:19)to the sons of Lot? Would you call this a "blessing?" Do you think that Lot's sons were blessed because Lot was the nephew of Abraham? Thankfully,God's ways are not our ways. What do you think God wants us to learn from this? |

After researching Easter on this site I came across this fact: "according to the World Almanac, Easter is observed on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the vernal equinox (the first day of spring)." This has prompted some thoughts and questions. Since the term "Easter" is a derivation from pagan goddesses, why has the church embraced this word? For the believer, our Lord's triumph is a day to celebrate - doesn't "Resurrection Day" seem more worth celebrating than "easter?" Which is the correct day of observance according to the Jewish Passover? Wouldn't it be great to begin a Christ-centered, world-wide movement to re-establish the correct day of observance of our Lord's Triumph or would this just wreck havoc with our "Easter Vacation" scheduling? After the apostle Paul lists the armor of God, he identifies an offensive weapon offered to the believer - the SWORD. In this passage, the SWORD is identified as The Word of God. Note that it belongs to the Spirit; we are told to take it. In 2 Tim 2:15, Timothy is told to "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth." From these Scriptures, is it reasonable to suggest that the accurate handling God's Word requires us to rely upon the Holy Spirit (His power) to wield it? (I don't mean to stir the pot, but this kind of bothers me.)Since Paul attaches sigificance to believing that "God has raised Him from the dead" in the plan of salvation, could it be that it is important to know not only WHO you believe in but also WHAT you believe about Him? Also, it would be good to clarify what the difference is between Jesus as Lord and Jesus as Lord of one's life. Refer to Matthew 7:21-23 and James 2:19 Even the demons know Jesus is Lord and tremble!
