281 | Scriptural Support Requested! | Rom 8:14 | Mommapbs | 50161
Greetings Forum Participants: A recent post stated, " Nobody can prove being controlled by the Holy Spirit. But we have the written word to help mold us an shape us into a form which God will accept us." Is there Scriptural support for the assumptions in this post? Are these statements contrary to Scripture? So I would ask: 1. CAN we know if one is controlled by the Holy Spirit? 2. Does God's Word help mold and shape us into a form that is acceptable to God? The use of words is very important but Scripture is even more so! Please provide references for either one or both. Thanks for your help. Mommapbs |

282 | Where are the other things in the Ark? | 2 Chr 5:10 | Mommapbs | 50027
This verse says that the tablets were the ONLY thing in the Ark. What happened to these things that were supposed to be in the Ark of The Covenanat as decribed in Hebrews 9:4? "the ark of the covenant covered on all sides with gold, in which was a golden jar holding the manna, and Aaron's rod which budded, and the tables of the covenant;" |

283 | What is YOUR spiritual gift? | Acts | Mommapbs | 49043
Greetings Grace and Truth and Forum Participants! For most of my life I was taught to believe just what you have written here: "The means for the reception of spiritual gifts in the Christian age are not operative today. Gifts, in the first century, were bestowed by means of Holy Spirit baptism (Acts 2; 10), and through the laying on of the apostles1 hands (Acts 8:17, 18; 19:6; ” Tim. 1:6). Since there is no Holy Spirit baptism today (Eph. 4:5; Mt. 28:19, 20), and as there are no living apostles, it is obvious that, so far as biblical evidence is concerned, no spiritual gifts are being given to believers today." But God was not limited by what I had chosen to believe about Him. He had to overtly "knock my socks off" (this got my attention!) several times before I could finally admit that I had been foolish to put up with the traditional teaching of men rather than depending upon the teaching of the Holy Spirit on the matter of spiritual gifts. Because I had refused to believe that God no longer spoke except through His Word, I denied myself the privilege of hearing His voice and allowed doubt to reign. BIG MISTAKE! I am saddened that you have chosen to put God in a box - in reality, you are defining who YOUR God is and not allowing HIM to do the defining for YOU!The spiritual gifts are alive and well today. "You do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures." James 4:2-3 In Christ's love, Mommapbs PS:For those Forum members who are exercizing their spiritual gifts to edify the body of Christ, please send a note of encouragement to Grace and Truth! |

284 | Alone and loneliness? | Gen 2:18 | Mommapbs | 48961
Greetings Lionstrong, thank you for the meditation. I appreciate your thinking yet it prompts me to ponder loneliness. God indeed recognized our need for completion, yet how much harder it has become in this fallen world! How do we respond to those who have been called to a "singular life?" How do we respond to those who live in lonely marriages? |

285 | Philisita and Palestinians? | Ps 60:8 | Mommapbs | 48935
Can anyone determine if the present day Palestinians are descendants of Philistia? (Psalm 60:8) |

286 | Who are Moab, Edom and Philistia? | Ps 60:8 | Mommapbs | 48906
Who are the characters in this Psalm? Is there a present day Moab, Edom and Philisia? From my recollection (dangerous, I admit) Moab was the decendants of Lot resulting from from an incestuous realtionship. Edom was the descendants of Esau, the twin who sold his birthright. And Philistia, help me here, does this represent all the "heathen" nations that Israel conquered? (or rather should have) - Perhaps we wouldn't have the Palestinian conflict today if they had been obedient to God when they went in to take the land He had given them in the first place!? |

287 | Where is the TRUTH found? | Matt 1:25 | Mommapbs | 48141
Greeting Brian! You wrote: "the Catholic Church considers Mary to be the first person saved by Jesus." Does the BIBLE say this is so? You wrote: "She was cleansed of all sin (including original sin), in order to prepare her body for her son." How does the BIBLE say this happened? You wrote: "So that, her Son (God), was born free of all stains of sin." Where does the BIBLE say that God needed Mary to be sinless in order to bring forth Jesus, who knew no sin? You wrote: "Mary received the same cleansing that is offered to each of us, at Baptism." Where does the BIBLE say that BAPTISM cleanses us?According to Hebrews 9:22, it is blood that cleanses sin! You wrote: "Although she was saved before the birth of Christ, in accordance with God's plan." How was Mary "saved?" Where is this "plan" revealed? Can you support this teaching with Scripture? Let's be careful to differentiate between the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church and the Teaching of God's Word! Let's seek the TRUTH together! Mommapbs |

291 | No fruit apart from Jesus? | John 15:2 | Mommapbs | 47553
Kalos, greetings! I guess I'm entering this discussion a little late. I'm struggling a bit about Judas. Is he part of the vine because he was a Jew? If indeed he was cut off, this would make sense to me, but how does this relate to us as Gentiles as "ingrafted branches?" Jesus said, "Apart from me you can do nothing." (John 15:5) Therefore should we be able to conclude that apart from Jesus, we can bear no fruit? Just wondering about this! Blessings, Mommapbs |

292 | Discern and respond? | Luke 12:56 | Mommapbs | 47549
What characterizes "the days are evil?" Shouldn't we be more diligent in recognizing and responding to this?
293 | Accusing like judging? | Rev 12:10 | Mommapbs | 47476
"But God is the Judge; He puts down one and exalts another." Psalm 75:7 Since there is only one JUDGE, when Satan brings charges against believers, is this an attempt to deify himself as issuing a form of judgment?
294 | Love grow cold? | Matt 24:12 | Mommapbs | 47449
How will people's love (this is the agape form)grow cold?
295 | Let's analyze "this present time." | Luke 12:56 | Mommapbs | 47447
The following quote was written by Jeff Jacoby: "Jews, it is often said, are the canary in the coal mine of civilization. When they become the objects of savagery and hate, it means the air has been poisoned and an explosion is soon to come. If Europeans don't rise up and turn against the Jew-haters, the Jew-haters will rise up and turn against them." The Boston Globe 4/28/02 Mr. Jacoby has made observations and rightly concludes that the Jews seem to be a barometer of peace for the world. God's Word tells us that HE has chosen them; they are the "apple of His eye." (Zech 2:8) God tells us, "I make known the end from the beginning". (See Isa 46:9-11) He has given us signs from His Word that allows us to interpret "this present time." The secular press is able to recognize that the Jews are a special people and that they have a profound effect upon the world. Yet why does it seem that the Church is as ignorant as the scribes and other religious leaders in Jesus' day? "Be very careful, then, how you live--not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is." Ephesians 5:15-17 As believers, what things today can we identify that support "the days are evil?" What signs do we recognize that enable us to discern "this present time?" Perhaps if we start making a written list to refer to, (some of us need to see it in black and white before we process it!) we will be better equipped to respond in a God-honoring way rather than silence and complacency! It is interesting to note that when Satan is expelled from Heaven (Rev 12) he will be full of fury because HE "knows his time is short"! I we, as followers of Jesus, recognize that our time is short before the Lord returns, what should characterize our lives during "this present time?" Please support your answers from God's Word. |

296 | Prophetic overtones re Israel? | Luke 22:51 | Mommapbs | 47285
Might there be a prophetic overtone to this healing? I'm just wondering if there is more significance to this instance than meets the eye? Could the cutting off the ear suggest spiritual deafness? Since it was the ear of the servant of the Jewish High Priest, might we infer that he represents the Jewish nation that chose to not follow Jesus as Messiah? And the healing of the ear by Jesus . . . might this be a picture of the future salvation of Israel mentioned in Romans 11? |

299 | Support for Israel! | 1 Chr 12:18 | Mommapbs | 47148
"Peace to him who helps you" In light of the recent events taking place in the Holy Land, might this be another reason to encourage our national leaders to continue to support Israel? Also, reading on down in the passage, v22 says "For day by day men came to David to help him, until there was a great army like the army of God." Might this have a prophetic tone to it? |

300 | Can YOU tempt someone else to sin? | 1 Tim 6:4 | Mommapbs | 47014
Greeting tomn! Since you "inadvertantly" sent this to me I would like to respond by asking, can YOU really "tempt" someone else to sin? (See James 1:14 and Matthew 4:1-3) Secondly, I have read some of your posts on the Forum and the words you have chosen do not always have a Christ-like attitude attached to them. Why do you attempt to justify yourself and then ask for forgivness? If you are going to challenge the the beliefs of others who support themselves with God's Word, please remember to correctly use God's Word in the process. In Christ's Love, Mommapbs |
