188 | Who or what does He give up? | Mic 5:3 | Mommapbs | 98529
Micah 5:3 "But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Too little to be among the clans of Judah, From you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, From the days of eternity." Since verse 3 begins with "Therefore," I ask what is it therefore? It has been my understanding that this verse is prophetic indicating the birthplace of Jesus. So, I'm struggling a bit with the concept that verse 3 refers to the Babylonian captivity as previously suggested. What does He give up? Could this be a reference to Phi 2:6-7? OR . . . I'm also wondering if this refers to Israel being given up until the time of the Gentiles is completed and then they will be returned.("and they will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into all the nations; and Jerusalem will be trampled under foot by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled." Luke 221:24) Any comments? |

194 | What does "because of the angels" mean ? | 1 Cor 11:10 | Mommapbs | 96760
What does "because of the angels" mean in reference to the "symbol of authority?" I don't see where the AMP is going either . . . who is she not to displease? Could "because of the angels" be referring to this? "The cherubim shall have their wings spread upward, covering the mercy seat with their wings and facing one another; the faces of the cherubim are to be turned toward the mercy seat." Ex. 25:20 or perhaps this: "Such were their faces. Their wings were spread out above; each had two touching another being, and two covering their bodies." Ez. 1:11 Both seem to be expressions of reverence. Is this perhaps the point? |

196 | Was Mary an apostle? | John 20:18 | Mommapbs | 94977
If the word "apostle" means messenger or one who is sent, then when Jesus told Mary of Magdala to "go to My brethren and say to them, 'I ascend to My Father and your Father, and My God and your God.'", could we also call her an "apostle?" Might this influence our thinking about women as messengers of the "good news?" |

199 | How to "win the world" ? | Bible general Archive 2 | Mommapbs | 92795
I have noticed that many churches across America have (to me anyway) no semblence of a house of worship. I'm told that they are intentionally designed this way so that "unchurched" people will not feel threatened when they walk in. We have music that blasts as loud as rock concerts, drums, guitars, lights and sound sytems to rival any concert hall, comfortable seats, ample parking, and even food courts(!) It's all in the packaging, so I'm told . . . our job is to get 'em in the door, make 'em feel welcome and "at home" so that they can "hear the Gospel" and the Holy Spirit will do the rest. Is this meeting the needs of the world or "conforming" to the world? Is this necessary to reach the world with the Gospel? |
