3041 | what can be learned from jude? | Jude | EdB | 83814
kevin12 To me the biggest lesson in Jude is the description of false teachers. Jude describes them as men that revile angelic beings (this includes Satan). Jude further says we as mere men know little or nothing of the spirit realm and for us to speak evil of things we know nothing of, shows our stupidity. I use this as a litmus test when I hear people talking about spiritual warfare. If they start calling Satan names and telling him what their going to do to him I put them in the class of stupid people. If on the other hand they quote scripture and ask God/Jesus to overthrow Satan's wiles I listen. Apply this test to Christian TV/Radio and you will quickly see who is a true teacher and who is false. Also refer to 2 Peter 2:10 EdB |

3042 | what does 2peter and jude have in common | Jude | EdB | 120902
grass_fire01 I agree with what the another poster has said and want to add that Jude and 2 Peter both contain strong cautions about our lack of knowledge and a lack of respect when dealing with spiritual beings. Jude 8-11 and 2 Peter 2:10-22. I see much of these cautions or warnings being ignored by many of the teachers of spiritual warfare. Today it seems sport to call Satan most any name we can think of, and acting out our anger with him. EdB |

3043 | What do we believe? | Jude 1:3 | EdB | 116981
Aixen7z4 I think that is easy to answer the Apostle’s Creed was constructed to answer that exact question. "I believe in God the Father Almighty; Maker of Heaven and Earth; and in Jesus Christ His only (begotten) Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary; suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose from the dead; He ascended into heaven; and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen." To bad much of Christianity rejects teaching the creeds. This one in particular was memorized by me as a child and served me well for well over 50 years. I used in to fortify my faith, help others, answer questions, even defend against man's philosophy and reject heresy. EdB |

3044 | Scandal of the Catholic Priesthood | Jude 1:4 | EdB | 52704
I have to agree with Emmaus on this one. I know John MacArthurs strong stand against the Catholic church and I think I understand it, but this seems a little off. The Catholic church is not alone in this, there are many protestant churches and Christian day cares facing similar situations. I know in many churches pastoral failures are often covered up(adultery, embezzlement, pornography and such) although in every case of pedophilia that I know of has been reported and prosecuted. I most certainly agree with Reformer Joe that posting the whole thing was totally uncalled for. EdB |

3045 | Why was Moses body faught for? | Jude 1:9 | EdB | 64447
cyndejo Hi and welcome to the forum. We are not given this answer in the Bible. However I will offer an opinion. If Satan could have gotten Moses' body he probably would have made the Israelites aware of it's location. Knowing their love for Moses they probably would have retrieved the body and enshrined it. Over time I think they would have fallen into a worship of that body. It would have become an idol. Much like the shroud of Turin has become to some. Only this would have occurred on a much larger scale. Therefore God kept Satan away and the location of the burial a secret. EdB |

3046 | could this scripture be related? Zech3:1 | Jude 1:9 | EdB | 64496
Pastor Glenn I think what the Bible is showing us in Jude 1:9, Zech 3 and 2 Pet 2:10-14 are the ways we are to deal with Satan. I think what is being taught as "spiritual warfare" where people yell, rant and rave calling Satan names is a travesty. EdB |

3047 | why did Satan want Mose's dead body? | Jude 1:9 | EdB | 226239
Rebecca The simple answer is we just don't know because scripture never says. However if I was going to a take a guess I would say Satan wanted it so the Israelites could have found it and possibly embalmed it as a mummy and then enshrine it. In effect it would tend to deflect their worship from God onto the man Moses which even today is revered among the Jews. Much like the Shroud to Turin does now for some people. But again that is a guess since scripture is silent on the actual answer. |

3048 | STILL entertaining? | Revelation | EdB | 1497
I fail to understand why Jack Van Impe or Hal Lindsey's were even considered. Both have made predictions (prophecies??) that have failed miserably. Lindsey wrote a book called 1980 Count Down to Armageddon that called for the return of Christ 1988. Jack Van Impe jumped on the Y2K disaster and how it fit into Revelation and 'End Times'. Repeatedly he told how the world was going to collapse. He raised unfounded and I might add unrealized fears of many. He was cautioned about it by both computer experts and experts in 'End Times', yet continued. After that debacle, anyone who would listen to anything he said is looking to be mislead. Get away from the sensational look at books by Dr Stanley Horton pub. Gospel Publishing House, Dr. David Jeremiah pub. World publishers, Dr. John MacArthur pub Moody or Nelson. Another book you might want to look at is Revelation Four Views edited by Steve Gregg pub. Nelson. I agree with the one name given J. Vernon McGee, you can trust him. |

3049 | Hi Tim | Revelation | EdB | 9999
Hi I'm going to jump in here. Well we know that there is going to be 144,000 servants of God that goes through some part of the tribulation. We also know there are others that do not take the mark of the beast and are killed. Most consider them as saved. Many feel the saints under the altar in Rev. 6:9 are people that were saved during the tribulation and lost their lives. The references 1 Thess 1:10 and 1 Thess 5:9 on the “wrath” you mentioned are explained like this, many feel God’s wrath begins at the mid point of the tribulation and at this point every believer has either been raptured or killed and no new ones come into being. Others feel the “us” of those verses mean people that were saved before the rapture. They view the necessity of going through the tribulation as the penalty for not accepting Jesus sooner. Personally I favor the former, God’s wrath doesn’t take place until mid trib and by that point any believer has either been raptured, killed or martyred. In any case I see no believer making it through the Tribulation. Is this what your asking? Ed |

3050 | computers... | Revelation | EdB | 12632
There I don't know where you got that piece of information but it is wrong. All computer are binary, and most if not all computers use hexdecimal connotation. Computers basically work as a mass number of switches they are on or a they are off hence they are binary. Hexdecimal is base 16 numbering system that has four binary positions xxxx called a byte (not a bit) the number "one" would be 0001, the number 15 or hex “F” would be 1111. To make 16 you would have 0001 0000 using two bytes. Notice I can make any number just by turning one position on or off, 1111 1111 would be 255 or hex 255. Our numbering system is decimal 1-9 and there is octal 1-8 but that is a whole another story. |

3051 | What does revelation say about towers | Revelation | EdB | 16044
nolesurfer9 I began to give you a silly answer using a made up formula and counting letters and all that junk. But the Holy Spirit checked me and pointed out the tragedy was too serious to give foolish answers. To answer your question NO. Nowhere in the Bible does it mention Twin Towers or make any reference to planes. However we are warned many times in the Bible that in the end times, the time leading up to Jesus’ return, we would see wars and rumors of wars, we would see men become lovers of themselves, people would become cold and callous and life would be thought little of. While everyone was surprised and outraged by this horrendous event, no Christian should be surprised by it’s nature since the Bible clearly tells us this and even worst heinous acts of man against man are to be expected. Truly our redemption draws nigh, for those that don't depend on Jesus for salvation this world is going to become a very scary place to be. |

3052 | Spirit of the Lord Go to white house | Revelation | EdB | 16295
We need to be reading our Bibles. Nothing is going to bring this world into one union for the Glory of God until Christ returns. Until then we can expect tragedies like this and worst. As the time of Christ’s return approaches this world is going to become a terrible place to live and if we are not firmly rooted in our faith in God we will be tossed and shaken. I will agree with your prayer asking that the Holy Spirit fill the White House and lead our President in the decisions he must make in the days ahead. Come quickly Lord Jesus! |

3054 | is rev speaking of america/pres.b sr,jr | Revelation | EdB | 35991
Zero First start thinking earth and stop thinking the America. We have a tendency to think the world revolves around the US but it doesn't. To the best of my knowledge America or the US is not mentioned in the Bible. George Bush Sr and Jr are not the antichrist neither are that smooth in public relations. The Anticrhist will seem like God's gift to man, but in fact he will be Satan's henchman in destruction. As Searcher56 has said this subject has been discussed and you may want to read what has been said before going on. Do some quick searches on Rev 13, Antichrist, beast, end times and you should find some very interesting threads you may want to add to. EdB |

3055 | Is the milenium literal or figurative? | Revelation | EdB | 72163
Italian_Honey Hi and welcome to the forum. the questions you ask are good but require lengthy answers. These subjects have been discussed at great lengths on the fourm before. If you will do a search for Millenennium in the quick search box to the right I think you will find all the info you seek. If you have additional questions or comments you can post them in the thread addressing that subject. EdB |

3056 | what is the wound of the beast | Revelation | EdB | 86792
Interesting question!! Rev. 13:3 And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. Rev. 13:12 And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. Rev. 13:14 And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived. Verse 3and 14 simply say fatal wound. In verse 14 it says "wounded by the sword". Interesting since the Word of God is often referred to as a sword. The use of the word "the" almost infers it is the 'sword of the Word' rather than a literal sword. Almost like the 'Word' was used to prove him false but he overcame that. Interesting. EdB |

3057 | Seven Church "ages"? Is it scriptural? | Revelation | EdB | 95893
John There seems to be some correlation between the seven churches and seven periods of time in the church history. This view is Historicist view and can be described as an alternate to the Preterist, Spiritualistic and Futuristic views. These are some brief excerpt from course notes of mine, which discuss the subject. Church of Ephesus It was a church in the middle of wanton materialism, paganism and heathenism. Church from 30 AD - 100 AD Church of Smyrna Smyrna is the martyr church, the church that suffered martyrdom for Christ. Smyrna means "Myrrh" which carries the meaning of suffering. Similar to the church during the period 100 AD to 314 AD From the death of John to the edict of toleration by Constantine which ended the persecution of Christians. Church of Pergamos Pergamos means tower. Representative of the church from 300 AD to 590 AD Paganism unlimited. World move into the church without conversion, church committed fornication or Balaamism. The Church of Thyatira Representative of the church from 590 AD to 1500 AD this period was known as the dark ages. Rise of Papal church with Icons that people bowed down to idol Worship. Inquisition and Crusades can be seen as forms of Jezebelistic persecution. The Church of Sardis The church between 1500 and 1789. The reformation church where Martin Luther nailed his Ninety five theses to the door of the church. Church given over to formalism and ritual. A form of Godliness but without power. Reformation was a political struggle more than a religious struggle. Church of Philadelphia The revived church 1789 - 1900 AD. Revivals of Whitefield, John Wesley, Charles Finney and D. L. Moody. Evangelistic and missionary minded. Church that turned back to the word of God. Church of Laodicea Modern church rich and self sufficient. Neither hot nor cold going through the motions but not really fighting the good fight. EdB |

3058 | Sequence of events in Rev 14 and 20 ? | Revelation | EdB | 110128
Emmy Something tells me your questions is birthed in something other than your curiosity. Could this be homework? Or better yet would you tell us what generated these questions? The reason I ask is the answer to these question require more yes no or abc cba. There are various schools of thought on the rapture, tribulation and etc. To place these events in any order without offering an explanation would do you and the events a great disservice. EdB |

3059 | guiding principles to Revelation | Revelation | EdB | 129328
Since the Book of Revelation is considered prophecy I give you some guidlelines I came across a few years ago that have served me well. Sorry I can not provide where I got this. 7 RULES REGARDING PROPHECY. 1. Understand prophecy as history written before hand. 2. Give the same meaning to words of prophecy as you do words of history. 3. Do not seek hidden meanings. 4. Do not think prophecy must be fulfilled before it can be understood. 5. Do not interpret God's own interpretation of anything in prophecy. 6. Take all prophecy literally unless it is clear that you can't have a literal meaning. Then get the literal truth conveyed by the figurative language. 7. Let the Bible be it's own interpreter. |
