3081 | "And to the angel of the church in Phila | Rev 3:7 | EdB | 61515
Hi Iorac Philadelphia was in locate the middle of a rich fertile land area and became known for it’s wine production. The wine production made it a very wealthy city. The placement of the city gave it command of an important pass through the mountains between Hermus and Meander valleys. Through his pass traveled mail, trade, and all forms of commerce from the west to the eastern regions of Lydia. Philadelphia in a sense was the keeper of the door or gateway to the eastern highlands and had the power to open or close according the to the will of it’s officials. Thus the reference to the doorway that no one can shut. Rev 3:7 Built on a bluff overlooking this gateway the city was located in the middle of a earthquake zone and survived many major quakes. It continually managed to raise itself out of the dust and ruin to once again enjoy it’s splendor. In 1400 the Muslims eventually slaughtered everyone in the city. The church of Philadelphia had a vigorous missionary vision and won many of the Jews of the city. This many times was the reason for the problems of the church in the city. Interestingly enough to the best of knowledge there is a pillar from the city that still stands, hidden among the scrubs and brush on the site where the city once stood. Again I think in reference to the pillar in Rev 3:12 I hope this info helps, it was collected from many different sources. EdB |

3082 | research of Rev.3:7 philadelphia church | Rev 3:7 | EdB | 61558
lorac I'm sorry but I know of no RELIABLE source of this information. I have searched high and low for more information myself but secular history is very sketchy and I know of no recorded church history. There are many that have great stories to tell of the church of Philadelphia but all are without proof and have no Biblical basis. Is there any point in particular you want to know about? EdB |

3083 | what about the K J V | Rev 3:10 | EdB | 24935
Preacher man They stopped using the king's English hundreds of year ago and since I never used it I figured there was no point in confusing the issue more by trying to read a Bible written in it. It is the NKJV, NASB, or NLT for me. Yes I imagine you do go through a lot of tribulation reading a KJV. :-) EdB |

3084 | Can we afford to be neutral? | Rev 3:16 | EdB | 140482
lionheart No the church can't aford to be neutral but for some reason we go from one side of the road (doing nothing) to the other (trying to force Jesus down people's throats). I think our "daily" life should testify of Jesus every second we live. Instead of fighting so hard for a manger scene in the park we should be trying harder to show Jesus in our love reaching out to lost and dying of this world. In the first, second and third century it wasn't how the Christians fought the establishment that won Rome to Christ. It is was how Christians lived and died that brough many to Christ. We should be the first to mention the name of Jesus and to trust that name to our death. But people must see Jesus through our life before they will desire Him in theirs. EdB |

3085 | Does this include satan as well? | Rev 5:13 | EdB | 104047
dfk4jc There is two ways to take this very literal, and then yes, it would include Satan and the demons. Remember Satan still answers to God, look at the book of Job. However I think 'every' is hyperbole. I think the passage is speaking of everyone that worships God willworship but those in rebellion will not. EdB |

3086 | Four horsemen? | Rev 6:1 | EdB | 140089
To give a detailed answer would require much more room than the Forum alots for answers. Most see the first horse the white horse as the Antichrist in attempt to conqueor the world The next horse steals peace from the world. What little peace there is and the world is embroiled in turmoil and confusion. The third horse the black one represents worldwide famine. With all the turmoil and fighting going on the world's supply of food will be vanquished. People will actually starve to death in horrendous numbers. The fourth or pale horse represents death through all that is taking place the world will see one fourth of it's population die. Presently the world population is placed as 6 billion people. One fourth would represent 1.5 billion people dead. The US has about 300 million people as it would be five times all the people in the US dead. Not a very pleasant time. EdB |

3087 | WHAT PROPHET ATE BOOK | Rev 10:9 | EdB | 127109
Best known example John in Rev. 10:9 So I went to the angel and said to him, "Give me the little book." And he said to me, "Take and eat it; and it will make your stomach bitter, but it will be as sweet as honey in your mouth." Lesser known cases Jeremiah and Ezekiel Jeremiah 15:16 Your words were found, and I ate them, And Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; For I am called by Your name, O Lord God of hosts. Ezekiel 3:1-3 Moreover He said to me, "Son of man, eat what you find; eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel." [2] So I opened my mouth, and He caused me to eat that scroll. [3] And He said to me, "Son of man, feed your belly, and fill your stomach with this scroll that I give you." So I ate, and it was in my mouth like honey in sweetness. EdB |

3090 | who are the 2 witnesses in rev 11;3 | Rev 11:3 | EdB | 141400
Since scripture does not identify them we can not. There is speculation that they are Enoch and Elijah both of which were taken to Heaven without tasting death. There is also support for Moses, John the Baptist, Jeremiah and other prophets. However the truth be told we simply don't know. EdB |

3091 | Two Kingdoms of God in separate times | Rev 11:15 | EdB | 225549
There are many venues called kingdoms. We have kingdoms of man or of this world and kingdom of God. God is soveriegn and as such all are subject to Him. So in that sense there is one kingdom God's. However we see all authority was given to Jesus so in effect God turned His Kingdom over to the victor Christ Jesus. But we must remember there is one God and Jesus the Son and the God the Father are one, the kingdom is God's. Don't lose sight of what scripture is saying here, before this point God allowed man to set up kingdoms and rule. Man tried to rule other men, animals, and physical earth itself. However all these attempts failed in one way or another. At this point and on God has taken back this control. But since Jesus was victor in the battle of will, this passage was written to give that glory to Jesus. |

3092 | GOD CAST SATAN FROM HEAVEN? | Rev 12:4 | EdB | 95137
laststep Rev 12 gives this picture. Many believe the first part of Rev 12:1-6 is a picture of time past. And Rev 12:7-17 a picture of time future. In any case Rev 12:4 is believed to symbolize Satan taking one third of the angels with him and Rev 12:9 shows Satan himself being thrown to earth. EdB |

3093 | GOD CAST SATAN FROM HEAVEN? | Rev 12:4 | EdB | 95273
Greetings laststep and welcome to the forum, The bible does not specifically say when this event happened. There is a theory called the 'gap theory' that it occurs between Gen 1:1 and 1:2. In verse 1 it states that God created the heavens and the earth. In verse 2 it says that the earth was without form and void. Form comes from the Hebrew word "tohu" which means 'From an unused root meaning to lie waste; a desolation (of surface), that is, desert; figuratively a worthless thing; adverbially in vain: - confusion, empty place, without form, nothing, (thing of) nought, vain, vanity, waste, wilderness'. Void is the Hebrew word which means 'From an unused root (meaning to be empty); a vacuity, that is, (superficially) an undistinguishable ruin: - emptiness, void. Since we know that God does not create anything that is not perfect there must of been a space of time inbetween the 2 verses where the earth went from perfect to chaos. According to the Gap theory it is believed that: 1) a pre-Adamic race existed 2) Lucifer and his angels may have ruled over the nations 3) that it was at this time that Lucifer was thrown out of heaven. Hope this helps. prayon (definitions from Strongs Concordance) I posted this to you so you would be sure to see it. Notice also the word THEORY. That is exactly what it is a theory not FACT. There is no conclusinve evidence that establishes this THEORY as FACT EdB |

3094 | Explain the meaning of Rev. 12-7-11 | Rev 12:7 | EdB | 91778
legendli There are many opinions on this. The one I prefer is: We know Satan is the accuser of the saints to accuse us he has to access to God. So evidently he stil has access to heaven. In these verse we see that access cut off. Satan is no longer allowed into heaven to accuse the saints.he is thrown down. Another popular opinion says that this is a picture of Satan before the Garden of Eden. That Satan wared against God and was cast down to earth with his angels. However Job shows us Satan reporting before God so he had to have access to heaven to do that and as I said above he is the accuser of the saints so he has to have access God and heaven to accuse us. There are other opinions but I don't think they are even close to fact so I won't bother to mention them. EdB |

3095 | When the time devil cast out? | Rev 12:9 | EdB | 71903
jlpangilinan Satan hasn't been cast out yet. We see him cast out in the Rev 12:9 which is in the future. In Rev 12:10 we see what we already know that Satan is the accuser of the saints, to do that he has to access to God’s ear which is in heaven. That is why Jesus stands as our mediator to defend us against Satan’s accusations. In Job 1:6 we see Satan report to God in heaven. Satan lost his exalted place in heaven apparently before the fall in the garden, but he still has access to heaven. Many believe Ezekiel 28:1- 20 detail Satan’s fall from grace. EdB |

3096 | What's Satan doing in Heaven in Job? | Rev 12:10 | EdB | 133954
Satan's biggest job is as the accuser of the saints. Rev. 12:10 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, "Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. It isn't until this verse in Revelation that Satan is finally casted from heaven and can no longer accuse the saints. However don't forget Jesus our High Priest stand at the right hand of God the Father to intercede for us when Satan makes his accusations. EdB |

3097 | i would like to know who the beast is | Rev 13:3 | EdB | 127633
Reading this in context the beast represents both the Antichrist and demonic world system he leads. For more information on the Antichrist refer to 2 Thessalonians 2:3-11 and Daniel 7:8,21-26; 8:23-25; 9:24-27; 11:36-45. EdB |

3098 | Explain the mark in Rev 13 | Rev 13:15 | EdB | 128439
Oldeek First we are told in Rev 13:16 the mark will be on the right hand or forehead. Many have tried to figure out the mystery of the mark and most attempt to do it by assigning numerical values to the letters of the alphabet and then adding, multiplying, dividing or subtracting them to come up with their answer of 666. Some use our alphabet others us Latin, Greek or Hebrew. In any case I have heard every answer from Nero, through Hitler and Stalin to Nixon. Obviously we don't know the answer as to who it is. :-). As to the mark itself, with the willingness of our youth today to mark their bodies in most any way they can imagine and usually in imitation of something they have seen, I think it will start as seemingly harmless method of expressing admiration for someone or something. By saying that I don't think anyone will innocently allow themselves to be marked then find they sold their soul. I'm saying they will become so enamoured with someone or something they will be willing to worship it and want to mark their bodies. However as this practice increases anyone that is not marked will be looked as out of it, and later this will quickly move that people will nothing to do with you, followed it being a requirement and anyone without such a mark will then become hunted. Others feel it is our social security numbers or credit card numbers. And since there is talk to assigning a personal identification number to each person, people are once again sure this is the mark. As I said before I don’t think anyone will innocently take the mark and find they have sold their souls. Credit cards and all these other examples have valid alternative uses. I think when the mark in question is used it will be for one thing and one thing only to show worship, support and submission to the antichrist. In other words we are not going to be tricked into taking it and losing our souls unknowingly. EdB |

3100 | Danger in "revelation theory" only. | Rev 17:16 | EdB | 59643
Pastor Glenn You might be right or you might be wrong. You have made an interesting observation and I'm not sure it deserves the disdain it seems to have garnered here. Your antagonist are right we don’t have enough information to make that call, but I see no harm in mussing it over. Heavens forbid we talk about anything speculative here on the forum! Glory777 is also right, we as Christians can get tied up Revelation theories and forget there is a lost and dying world that is going to hell. However God must have felt the subject important enough to include a whole book in the Bible about it. Now to your statement. I’m not sure what part the Al Qaeda will play in the ‘End Time’ scenario, but I’m totally convinced ISLAM will be a major factor. The army from the north mentioned all through ‘End Time’ prophecy has to be the Muslim countries north of Israel that once made up the USSR. Islam will not rest until Israel is destroyed, no matter what compromises are attempted. Short of that there will be no peace in the Middle East. I do not believe God will allow that to happen and therefore I believe we are on the brink of seeing the “End Time’ scenario played out. Should we be worried, only about those that don’t know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. EdB |
