302 | the TNIV and the "new" NIV | 2 Tim 3:16 | justme | 230689
Has anyone checked the newest 2011 NIV against the TNIV? Zondervan says that is is different fron the TNIV. As some here on the SBF can recall when Hank and several of us previewed the TNIV many felt the TNIV was a huge mistake. As it turned out Zondervan stopped publishing the TNIV. My question is the new NIV really that much different from the TNIV? PLEASE DO NOT ANSWER THIS UNLESS YOU HAVE READ FOR YOURSELF AND KNOW FOR SURE THA DIFFERENCE |

303 | Titus 1:8 the word "holy"? | Titus 1:8 | justme | 243694
Titus 1:8. In the list of what an Overseer must be the Greek text says "Holy" right after the word "just". The NASB the word "HOLY" is not there. I wanted to know what other versions either included the word "Holy" or left it out. Of the most commonly used and a few not so common versions my research was a little confusing. The KJV and the NASB left out "Holy", but the HCSB, ESV, NIV, and the 1611 KJV and the NKJV had the word "Holy. And to add to my wonder, the American Standard Version which the NASB is based on has the word "Holy'. But the KJV of 1778 and the NASB of 1960, and the Updated NASB does not have the word "Holy". I wonder if anyone has some idea as to why when the Greek has the word "Holy", yet some versions have left it out? If the Greek did not have the word "Holy" this would be understandable, but its there. |

304 | Saved or not ? | Hebrews | justme | 188875
Hebrews uses the words "Fall Away" in chapter 6. Paul also used the words fall away. My question is how do we determine if a person is really saved and backsliden or just a person who was not genuinely saved? justme |

307 | Where do we go with burdens? | James 1:5 | justme | 66655
Why is it that we seem to seek out others advice on problems and seek their advice or solutions, from the Forum first? Are we not to seek out Wisdom from our "Owners Manual" the Bible, and pray to our Father in Heaven for wisdom and direction, first before seeking the advice of others? When a thread takes nine hours to suggest some answers for a problem that a burdened person has, is this how we as Christians are to resolve our problems and issues? Should we not direct our burdens to Jesus our Lord, and expect Him to direct and give us wisdom? I am not saying the Forum can not help but should we not direct burdened people to the Lord who has every answer? Psalm 139:3 " You scrutinize my path and my lying down, And are intimately acquainted with all my ways." NASB updated. Who is wiser, more knowledgeable, and loving than God Almighty? Does not God have the answer to everything? Maybe we need to say I am willing to prayer partner with this for you? Is it perhaps, easier to come up with a quick fix instant answer, I really wonder, do you? justme |

309 | Elders anointing sick with oil. | James 5:14 | justme | 63698
In James 5:14 to 16. In these verses Elders are to be praying and anointing the sick, and prayers offered. There in verse 16 we are to confess our sins to one another. I think the anointing with oil is an act of obedience. Why have many pastors and elders neglected these instructions? Would not these instructions, for the churches sick, be much like an ordiance of baptism or the Lords Supper? I do not think these verses say the person will be healed for sure, but that if sin brought on the sickness the sins will be forgiven. Any one have some thoughts on this? justme |

311 | Why do we change Scriptures words? | 1 Pet 4:11 | justme | 88394

312 | What would you do? | 2 Pet 2:13 | justme | 242567
In recent days we have witnessed an elected State Official refuse to obey a Supreme Court order. That High Court decision violated what the elected officials Christian belief in what the Bible says to them. this causes me to question what I would be willing to say "no that is against what the Bible says". I question at place and time will Churches in the United States have to defend what the Bible says against those who are anti-Christian, anti-church anti-Bible, anti-religion, anti-God? I believe as Christians we are facing a time of oppression at the least. The book FOXE'S BOOK OF MARTYRS is a book worthy of every Christian to peruse over once in a while. In FOXE'S BOOK OF MARTYRS many actual events of Christian's suffering for their faith are recorded for our encouragement to stay faithful. I feel that even today many are suffering for their steadfastness faith in the LORD JESUS CHRIST. Here is my question. If the United States government took away our religious freedom of speech, and worship, limiting what your Pastor can preach (example Romans 1) like what has happened in most countries in Europe and in Canada; what is your Biblically based belief, and thinking on what you should do? Please use Bible verses to base your answer. justme |

313 | Common grounds with Muslims? | 1 John 3:13 | justme | 225064
The Qur'an calls Christians ifidel's. "Muslims who make fiends with unbelievers (meaning Christians) lose their salvation from Allah." Chapter 3:28. In the Qur'an telling lies to over come and kill unbelievers is encouraged. How can Christians find a common ground to dialogue and share our faith? |

314 | Qur'an encourages what? | 1 John 3:13 | justme | 225077
biblicalman: According to the Qur'an we are "people of the Book", also called "unbelievers" with which they "will loose their salvation fron Allah". Chapter 3:28. I have a Qur'an and there are many time Muslims are told to keep away from people of the book. "common ground" is impossible to build any relationship unless trust can be established having truth as a basis. The Qur'an tells Muslims tolie and even kill infidels, which Christians are called because we do not accept Alla as anything more than a sinful man. I agree with DOC that we are to share Christ with Muslims as we do anyone else. However one never knows if they might say something just to trick you. Please tell me where the Qur'an "encourages contact between Muslims, Christians and Jews." Please state Chapter and verse so I can correct any misunderstanding in what I have read. Blessings. justme |

316 | Do you own a TNIV BIBLE? | 3 John | justme | 68487
Do you personally own and have used the TNIV? I would prefer only someone answer that has a TNIV, to respond please. What is you actual experience about it. I have read many reviews and they have been from a glance at the TNIV perspective. Is this a worthy translation in the language of today? Is it better than the LIVING BIBLE?

318 | Thank you all ! | Revelation | justme | 96090
Thank you Study Bible Froum! I received 15 notes on Friday Sept. 5th. Most interesting day I have ever had on this forum! Thank you all for showing respect and kindness! I am proud of the way that those who expressed how much they liked the LEFT BEHIND books and films, did so with openess, clearly saying why they liked the material. There were those who expressed their concerns about the LEFT BEHIND Books and films, in a better defined way then I was able to. I thank you all for the respect and kindness you showed as well. I hope you all have the experience of 15 notes in one day sometime. I will never forget it. Blessings and peace to you all. justme |

319 | Our name erased or added to Book of Life | Rev 13:8 | justme | 87173
In believing in the age of accountability, and innocents of infants, babies, and children until they can make Christ LORD, I ask; Are we under grace and then make the choice to reject Christ? Is our name removed from the Book of Life, or added when we make Jesus our Lord?
320 | Are there Demons today? | Rev 18:2 | justme | 52360
Jesus cast out demons in his lifetime. I believe we all would agree that the New testament has ample evidence that demons exist, and were actively involved with hindering Christ and his choosen few, and believers. If Jesus cast out demons, and even allowed them to enter a herd of pigs, which was deviled ham by the way, and they ran off a cliff into the sea. Please tell me where are demons today? Also why is not the casting out of demons today a part of the church? Are not demons just as active today as in Jesus life time? What should we as Christians do today to recognize when we come across a demon? How are we to cast out a demon? Are we to cast out a demon. This all sounds like some pretty rough dealings I am not sure how to deal with. agape, justme |
