21 | Proverbs 3 vs 1 - 12 | Prov 3:5 | prazn | 85512
Are you specifically referring to Proverbs 3:5-7, which states: "Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and turn away from evil."? If so, that scripture provides the answer itself. As Christians we are to trust in the Lord to tell us how to live this life. We demonstrate our reliance upon Him by praying to Him and reading the Bible. The Lord speaks to us through the Bible and through His Holy Spirit. Jer 8:9 declares the folly of relying upon our own wisdom ( or human reasoning) in living the Christian life: "The wise men are put to shame, They are dismayed and caught; Behold, they have rejected the word of the LORD, And what kind of wisdom do they have?" Hope this helps. |

22 | Isaiah 9:6 | Is 9:6 | prazn | 85869
According to the Brown-Driver-Brigg's Hebrew Lexicon, the Word "Father" in the Hebrew means "Originator" or "Producer". However the key word to focus on in the text is "Everlasting". "Everlasting", in the Hebrew, means "eternal" Isaiah referred to Jesus as "The Everlasting Father". Meaning, He has always been our Father and will always be our Father. Jesus said,"I and the Father are one." John 10:30 Jesus also said, "He who has seen Me has seen the Father" John 14:9 |

23 | A.D. and B.C. | Is 61:2 | prazn | 87872
Time began when God created the heavens and the earth. Time, which began with the creation of the earth until Christ's birth, is referred to as B.C. The time since Christ's birth is commonly referred to as A.D. Hence, B.C. means "before Christ". A.D. stands for "anno Domini" (latin), which means "the year of our Lord". When Jesus began His ministry on earth, He quoted the following, from the prophet Isaiah: Is 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, Because the LORD has anointed me To bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to captives And freedom to prisoners; Is 61:2 To proclaim the favorable year of the LORD. His purpose in quoting the prophet was to proclaim that the prophecy was being fulfilled through Him. Notice that the Lord did not recite the remaining words in Is 61:2, concerning vengeance. That is because the Lord will not judge mankind until He returns to the earth a second time. God bless you! prazn |

24 | Speaking and calling? | Jer 35:17 | prazn | 87252
Hi Mommabps, The meaning of the word "spoken" in the Hebrew (according to the Brown-Driver-Briggs Hebrew Lexicon) is "to declare, to command, to warn or to threaten". The meaning of the word "called" in the Hebrew (according to Strong's) is "to bid, to invite, or to summon". Both definitions are specific to the context in which they were used in the scripture you cited. I haven't read the scripture in context, but perhaps what was happening could be likened to calling a toddler to come into the house, for lunch, several times. As you know, since you're also a mom, the toddler will not listen the first or second time that we call. However, in our third attempt to coax them inside, our tone of voice, and perhaps our words, may change: no longer are we inviting them; we're now telling them! "Get inside this minute, or else..." Hope this helps! |

28 | How come he couln't go back? | Mark 8:26 | prazn | 85990
Well, my friend, the Lord obviously wanted your question answered. The following is excerpted from a book entitled, Adventuring Through the Bible: Matthew, Mark and Luke, by Ray C. Stedman. "Mark 8:22-26 goes on to record a very significant act of our Lord: Mark 8:22 And they *came to Bethsaida. And they *brought a blind man to Jesus and *implored Him to touch him. Mark 8:23 Taking the blind man by the hand, He brought him out of the village; and after spitting on his eyes and laying His hands on him, He asked him, "Do you see anything?" Mark 8:24 And he looked up and said, "I see men, for I see them like trees, walking around." Mark 8:25 Then again He laid His hands on his eyes; and he looked intently and was restored, and began to see everything clearly. Mark 8:26 And He sent him to his home, saying, "Do not even enter the village." Notice the the setting of this story--the village of Bethsaida. Matthew describes Bethsaida as one of those cities Jesus had pronounced judgement upon, saying, Matt 11:21 "Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles had occurred in Tyre and Sidon which occurred in you, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. Here is a city that has rejected our Lord's ministry and His person, and He will not allow any further testimony to go on in that city. He led the blind man out before He healed him. This is the only case where our Lord did not see an instantaneous, complete healing take place the first time He spoke. When the healing was complete, He would not even allow the healed man to go back into the village, for Bethsaida was a village under God's judgement for having rejected the ministry of the Servant of God." Wonder of wonders, I received this "Complimentary Study Resource" in the mail, several minutes ago. The book is published by RBC Ministries and can be ordered online at www.dhp.org/adventuring. After this happened, I could not help but to break into a chorus of "How Great Thou Art!" Stay blessed, dear one! |

29 | what does the parable in Luke 16:1 mean? | Luke 16:1 | prazn | 86330
It took a couple of years before the Holy Spirit revealed this one to me. The revelation that I received, is that the "shrewed manager" told his boss's customers to write a lower amount, than they really owed, on their bills. He told them to do this so that he might find favor with them once his boss fired him. The best way to explain this parable for its spiritual meaning is to refer to the Lord's prayer. Jesus gave us a model prayer, which begins "Our Father, which art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name..." The prayer continues, "and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors". We are blessed of the Lord when we forgive others their transgressions against us. When we forgive those who hurt us, and maintain our friendship with them, despite what they have done to offend us, we just might keep our friend. What's more, the Lord (the Boss) will, Himself, forgive us when we hurt others because we have forgiven those who have wronged us. Hope this makes sense to you. |

30 | From did God has come? | John 1:1 | prazn | 86304
Hi Esther, From my previous post, you should now know that God has always existed. No being created Him. He lives and reigns in Heaven. He came from heaven to earth 2000 years ago, as a man named Jesus Christ (the Son of God). This is what the Bible says about Jesus Christ: John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:2 He was in the beginning with God. John 1:3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. Jesus will come back to this earth again, very soon, to judge mankind. Have you asked Him to be your Lord and Savior? I pray that you will, if you have not! God bless you! |

31 | was elijah john the baptist | John 1:1 | prazn | 87701
Greetings! Consider the following scripture (Jesus testimony concerning the identity of John the Baptist): Matt 11:2 Now when John, while imprisoned, heard of the works of Christ, he sent word by his disciples Matt 11:3 and said to Him, "Are You the Expected One, or shall we look for someone else?" Matt 11:4 Jesus answered and said to them, "Go and report to John what you hear and see: Matt 11:5 the BLIND RECEIVE SIGHT and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the POOR HAVE THE GOSPEL PREACHED TO THEM. Matt 11:6 "And blessed is he who does not take offense at Me." Matt 11:7 As these men were going away, Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John, "What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? Matt 11:8 "But what did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothing? Those who wear soft clothing are in kings' palaces! Matt 11:9 "But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and one who is more than a prophet. Matt 11:10 "This is the one about whom it is written, 'BEHOLD, I SEND MY MESSENGER AHEAD OF YOU, WHO WILL PREPARE YOUR WAY BEFORE YOU.' Matt 11:11 "Truly I say to you, among those born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than John the Baptist! Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. Matt 11:12 "From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and violent men take it by force. Matt 11:13 "For all the prophets and the Law prophesied until John. Matt 11:14 "And if you are willing to accept it, John himself is Elijah who was to come. Matt 11:15 "He who has ears to hear, let him hear. Blessings! prazn |

32 | Why can God can love the world, not us? | John 3:16 | prazn | 86458
Let's say that you are married to an alcoholic husband, who also happens to be abusive. Suppose that your husband has been so abusive that he's tried to take your life, on several occasions. You still love him, but you've got little children and, for their sake, you flee. You also leave a note, telling the abusive husband that you love him, but cannot live with him until he commits to stop drinking and abusing you. Now imagine that your mom or dad, two people who say they love you, take sides with your abusive husband, and insist that you return to him, along with your little ones. Can they possibly love you, as their daughter, if they would allow you and their grandchildren to return to a situation that could get all of you killed? God loves us, but He is holy and He cannot tolerate sin. John 3:16 makes it very clear that those who do not accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, by believing in Him, will perish. By loving the world, you are aligning yourself with sin (what God hates) and you will perish, with the world (i.e., those who reject Jesus). The above scenario, may have been a pretty lousy analogy, but I pray that your question has been answered. God bless you! |

33 | Rom 3:11 and Hebrews 11:6 ???? | John 3:16 | prazn | 89262
The text that you reference in Romans 3 is a quotation from the Psalms. Specifically: Ps 14:1 The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, they have committed abominable deeds; There is no one who does good. Ps 14:2 The LORD has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men To see if there are any who understand, Who seek after God. Ps 14:3 They have all turned aside, together they have become corrupt; There is no one who does good, not even one. Please notice that the psalmist is referring to those who do not believe that there is a God. I believe that Hebrews 11:6 is referring to those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and have had their spirits quickened (i.e., made alive) to commune or fellowship with God. Hope this helps! prazn |

34 | speaking in tongues out of context | John 4:23 | prazn | 122407
Assuming that the other members of the congregation are truly worshipping in spirit and in truth, how is it possible that they can be disrupted by anything or any one other than Almighty God? When we are truly caught up in the worship experience (adoring our risen Savior) there is simply no time or motivation to see or hear other worshippers. |

35 | Do tongues relate to worship in context? | John 4:23 | prazn | 122483
Dear one, Worship in the greek means (in part) to adore or to reverence. When I speak in tongues to Almighty God, I am yielding to His Spirit. The words that come from my mouth do not come from my own human reasoning, but from the Spirit of the Living God. How better to "worship" the Lord, than to submit ones self (mind, body, soul and spirit) to His Spirit! I am sorry that you believe that I have twisted the Scriptures. If you will re-read my post, perhaps you will see that I copied the Scripture precisely as written in the NASB. However, I am always open to receiving correction, if you will be so kind as to explain how I "twisted" what is written in the Bible. peace, prazn |

37 | Where's "Our whole life becomes worship" | John 4:23 | prazn | 122520
The Pharisees and Scribes were the most learned religious men of their time. But, they missed the hour of their visitation because their Messiah (our Lord Jesus Christ) did not conform to their very narrow interpretation and understanding of the Holy Writ. in Love, prazn |

38 | How can 1 Cor 14:14 be your reference? | John 4:23 | prazn | 122521
You're right, our Lord Jesus Christ used the very same technique when the Pharisees asked Him a question that He was not compelled to answer: Mark 11:27 They came again to Jerusalem. And as He was walking in the temple, the chief priests and the scribes and the elders came to Him, Mark 11:28 and began saying to Him, "By what authority are You doing these things, or who gave You this authority to do these things?" Mark 11:29 And Jesus said to them, "I will ask you one question, and you answer Me, and then I will tell you by what authority I do these things. Mark 11:30 "Was the baptism of John from heaven, or from men? Answer Me." Mark 11:31 They began reasoning among themselves, saying, "If we say, 'From heaven,' He will say, 'Then why did you not believe him?' Mark 11:32 "But shall we say, 'From men'?"--they were afraid of the people, for everyone considered John to have been a real prophet. Mark 11:33 Answering Jesus, they said, "We do not know." And Jesus said to them, "Nor will I tell you by what authority I do these things." Searcher, are you in love with our Lord? peace, prazn |

39 | spiritual revelation to un- regenerate? | John 10:28 | prazn | 87237
Please don't under-estimate the power of the Living God, my friend. Guaranteed, once we are His, we are always His no matter how far we stray. For He declares in His Word that if He has begun a "good work" in us, He "will be faithful to complete it, until the day of Chist Jesus." -Phil 1:6 It is unfortunate, but many who do stray are brought back through tragedy or some other life altering circumstance, but our Lord does "chasten those He loves": Heb 12:5 and you have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons, "MY SON, DO NOT REGARD LIGHTLY THE DISCIPLINE OF THE LORD, NOR FAINT WHEN YOU ARE REPROVED BY HIM; Heb 12:6 FOR THOSE WHOM THE LORD LOVES HE DISCIPLINES, AND HE SCOURGES EVERY SON WHOM HE RECEIVES." Heb 12:7 It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? Heb 12:8 But if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. Heb 12:9 Furthermore, we had earthly fathers to discipline us, and we respected them; shall we not much rather be subject to the Father of spirits, and live? Heb 12:10 For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, so that we may share His holiness. Heb 12:11 All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness. To answer your question, the unregenerated spirit cannot receive "revelation" from the Holy Spirit. The Lord tells us in 1 Cor 2:14, "...a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised." Blessings! |

40 | Can christian people live righteous life | John 14:15 | prazn | 108907
No one can live a "righteous" (as you call it) life apart from the grace of God and belief in the Lord Jesus Christ (i.e., belief that Jesus died to save us from the wrath of God because we are sinful beings, by nature). "Righteousness" is the believers position, before God, in Christ; we are declared "righteous" by God because we have believed in His Son (the Lord Jesus Christ the righteous One): Rom 3:19-26 Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, so that every mouth may be closed and all the world may become accountable to God; because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin. But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. Rom 4:2-8 For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. For what does the Scripture say? "ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS CREDITED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS." Now to the one who works, his wage is not credited as a favor, but as what is due. But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness, just as David also speaks of the blessing on the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works: "BLESSED ARE THOSE WHOSE LAWLESS DEEDS HAVE BEEN FORGIVEN, AND WHOSE SINS HAVE BEEN COVERED. "BLESSED IS THE MAN WHOSE SIN THE LORD WILL NOT TAKE INTO ACCOUNT." We keep the Lord's commandments because He has written them in our hearts and the Holy Spirit convicts us of our sins, affording us the opportunity to confess and repent: Heb 8:10 "...I WILL PUT MY LAWS INTO THEIR MINDS, AND I WILL WRITE THEM ON THEIR HEARTS. AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE. John 16:8 "And He [the Holy Spirit], when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment;..." 1 John 1:8-10 If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us. |
