NASB | Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Proverbs 3:5 Trust in and rely confidently on the LORD with all your heart And do not rely on your own insight or understanding. |
Bible Question: What dependent trust? How can I explain this to a brother in christ. |
Bible Answer: Are you specifically referring to Proverbs 3:5-7, which states: "Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and turn away from evil."? If so, that scripture provides the answer itself. As Christians we are to trust in the Lord to tell us how to live this life. We demonstrate our reliance upon Him by praying to Him and reading the Bible. The Lord speaks to us through the Bible and through His Holy Spirit. Jer 8:9 declares the folly of relying upon our own wisdom ( or human reasoning) in living the Christian life: "The wise men are put to shame, They are dismayed and caught; Behold, they have rejected the word of the LORD, And what kind of wisdom do they have?" Hope this helps. |
