21 | Where did the jewish nation come in? | Gen 35:10 | Pastor Glenn | 59930
Genesis 32:28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed. Genesis 35:10 And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel. Exo 1:1 Now these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt; every man and his household came with Jacob. Exo 1:2 Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah, Exo 1:3 Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin, Exo 1:4 Dan, and Naphtali, Gad, and Asher. Exo 1:5 And all the souls that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls: for Joseph was in Egypt already. Exo 1:6 And Joseph died, and all his brethren, and all that generation. Exo 1:7 And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them. Pastor Glenn |

22 | Can someone explain this verse. | Gen 48:22 | Pastor Glenn | 94668
DarcyA, Sorry, but I can't find it in the bible. However, there is a controversial online book called the "Book of Jasher" that has a whole lot to say about that war. See chapter 37 at: http://www.nazarene.net/jasher/ Notice that no dead sea scrolls or other ancient documents have been found to authenticate it. So, believe it at your own risk. Pastor Glenn |

23 | compasionate God versus vengeful God | Lev 18:25 | Pastor Glenn | 140060
Hello Lorraine, Welcome to the forum. To the question of "why did God kill or order to be killed so many people...", I would point out that God has not changed. He was then, and still is, the God of Justice. Job 4:8 Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same. Proverbs 14:34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. Maybe it would be Good for your son to study the following scriptures in context in his bible. God is very even handed with all people. Leviticus 18:25 And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants. Leviticus 18:28 That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out the nations that were before you. Leviticus 20:22 Ye shall therefore keep all my statutes, and all my judgments, and do them: that the land, whither I bring you to dwell therein, spue you not out. Deu 8:19 And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish. Deu 8:20 As the nations which the LORD destroyeth before your face, so shall ye perish; because ye would not be obedient unto the voice of the LORD your God. Eze 33:11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel? Eze 33:12 Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression: as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness; neither shall the righteous be able to live for his righteousness in the day that he sinneth. Eze 33:13 When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it. Eze 33:14 Again, when I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; if he turn from his sin, and do that which is lawful and right; Eze 33:15 If the wicked restore the pledge, give again that he had robbed, walk in the statutes of life, without committing iniquity; he shall surely live, he shall not die. Eze 33:16 None of his sins that he hath committed shall be mentioned unto him: he hath done that which is lawful and right; he shall surely live. Eze 33:17 Yet the children of thy people say, The way of the Lord is not equal: but as for them, their way is not equal. Eze 33:18 When the righteous turneth from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, he shall even die thereby. Eze 33:19 But if the wicked turn from his wickedness, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall live thereby. Eze 33:20 Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. O ye house of Israel, I will judge you every one after his ways. Now, as to the question of those that died before Christ, Abraham is one who died before Christ, of course he has salvation. The greatness of God's plan of salvation through Jesus Christ is that it covered all people of all time: Gal 3:8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. Gal 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. Also see Hebrew chapter 11. Hope this helps, Pastor Glenn |

24 | God's Wrath, Why God approaved of death | Lev 18:25 | Pastor Glenn | 145756
Hello Peter, Welcome to the forum. To the question of "the story of blood religion, narrowly tribal, telling of a God of Wrath who approves the destruction of all outside groups....", I would point out that God has not changed. He was then, and still is, the God of Justice. By "outside groups", I suppose that you mean non-Jews. Outside groups of the bible are those that are "outside of faith". God is not a racist God. Job 4:8 Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same. Proverbs 14:34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. 25 | Heart and mind | Deut 6:5 | Pastor Glenn | 65166
eagle11, Here are my personal definitions: Heart, Ones Deepest emotions and desires that connects us with our surroundings, as well as, to others. Our heart determines how much we respond emotionally to what is happening around us. Mind, Ones process of setting Priories for decision making. Therefore, I would say that the heart affects the mind and vice versa. There needs to be the right amont of feedback between heart and mind for each and everything in our lives. Mankind is extremely complex. Maybe this is all controlled by our soul since the soul is separate from the heart and mind? Or maybe this question is too deep for me? Luke 10:27 So he answered and said, ""You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,'[10:27 Deuteronomy 6:5] and "your neighbor as yourself."'[ Leviticus 19:18] Pastor Glenn |

26 | Who are "the other Gods"? | Deut 11:1 | Pastor Glenn | 74910
Frank, The "other gods" are idols and/or demons. Exodus 20:3 "You shall have no other gods before Me. Notice that the true God is not giving credence to those other gods. He warns His people not to decieve themselves into thinking that there are "other gods" responsible for blessing them: Deuteronomy 11 13"And it shall be that if you earnestly obey My commandments which I command you today, to love the LORD your God and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul, 14then I[2] will give you the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil. 15And I will send grass in your fields for your livestock, that you may eat and be filled.' 16Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be deceived, and you turn aside and serve other gods and worship them, 17lest the LORD's anger be aroused against you, and He shut up the heavens so that there be no rain, and the land yield no produce, and you perish quickly from the good land which the LORD is giving you. Often even now we as Christians are in danger of attributing our blessings to our jobs, our education, or our ingenuity. We sometimes lean towards worship of our possessions instead of the one true God. God is well aware of how we tend to decieve ourselves: Isaiah 44:9 Those who make an image, all of them are useless, And their precious things shall not profit; They are their own witnesses; They neither see nor know, that they may be ashamed. Revelation 9:20 But the rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk. There is only one true and living God. Pastor Glenn |

27 | How did Jael know to kill him? | Judg 4:21 | Pastor Glenn | 140857
Hello Wonderfully Made (wondrfleemade), God's prophecy from Deborah was that he will be killed by a woman. God's word is sure. First of all, the question is how did she know to flag him down: Judg 4:18 Jael went out to meet Sisera, and said to him, "Turn aside, my master, turn aside to me! Do not be afraid." And he turned aside to her into the tent, and she covered him with a rug. |
||||||
28 | Did she know him? | Judg 4:21 | Pastor Glenn | 140862
I do not see where she knew him personally. Maybe she was just prejudiced due to: Judges 4 2 and Jehovah selleth them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, who hath reigned in Hazor, and the head of his host [is] Sisera, and he is dwelling in Harosheth of the Goyim; 3 and the sons of Israel cry unto Jehovah, for he hath nine hundred chariots of iron, and he hath oppressed the sons of Israel mightily twenty years. 11 And Heber the Kenite hath been separated from the Kenite, from the sons of Hobab father-in-law of Moses, and he stretcheth out his tent unto the oak in Zaanaim, which [is] by Kedesh. So it would appear that she considered her family to be aligned with Israel. |

29 | Where are Ephraim and Dan in Rev 7 | Judg 18:30 | Pastor Glenn | 80240
Asis, This is an excellent question. I had noticed this in the past and noticed that commentaries do not say much about why Mannaseh is in place of Dan. I wonder if Dan ever repented as a tribe of their idolatry: Judges 18:30 Then the children of Dan set up for themselves the carved image; and Jonathan the son of Gershom, the son of Manasseh,[18:30 Septuagint and Vulgate read [Moses.] ] and his sons were priests to the tribe of Dan until the day of the captivity of the land. I also notice that "half the tribe of Manasseh" seems to gain increasing prominance in the scriptures: Judges 22 30Now when Phinehas the priest and the rulers of the congregation, the heads of the divisions[3] of Israel who were with him, heard the words that the children of Reuben, the children of Gad, and the children of Manasseh spoke, it pleased them. 31Then Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest said to the children of Reuben, the children of Gad, and the children of Manasseh, "This day we perceive that the LORD is among us, because you have not committed this treachery against the LORD. Now you have delivered the children of Israel out of the hand of the LORD." I wonder also if there are Hebrew Christians on this forum that may have better insight concerning the tribe of Dan. Their parents were previously baren: Genesis 17:17 Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, "Shall a child be born to a man who is one hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?" 18And Abraham said to God, "Oh, that Ishmael might live before You!" 19Then God said: "No, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his descendants after him. |

33 | Is there danger of guessing what He did? | Job | Pastor Glenn | 141794
Hello Searcher, “Should we guess what God impressed on the heart of men before the Law given by God that is not recorded in the Bible?” Luk 10:27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. Luk 10:28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live. I think that we already know enough facts so that we do not need to guess. 1. Salvation was always the same way for all men, for all time: By the blood of the Lamb. Gen 3:21 Also for Adam and his wife the LORD God made tunics of skin, and clothed them. (Implies some animal died here.) 2. Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin: Hebrews 9:22 And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission. 3. All of the Law and the Prophets hang on these two Old Testament commands: Deuteronomy 6:5, Leviticus 19:18 (Wouldn’t God have to reveil these to all men of all time for salvation?) 4. Jesus expected any teacher of Israel (Old Testament) to already know that they must be born again: John 3:10 5. Job knew of his Redeemer: Job 19:25 For I know that my Redeemer lives, And He shall stand at last on the earth; There is probably much more as we ponder the scriptures, Your brother in Christ, Pastor Glenn |

34 | What does it mean to be saved? | Ps 32:1 | Pastor Glenn | 141129
Hello Ssnail, When we accept Jesus by faith, we are declared righteous by God. We are born again of the Spirit (John 3) and have a new nature: Rom 4 5 But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness, 6 just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works: 7 "Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, And whose sins are covered; 8 Blessed is the man to whom the LORD shall not impute sin." (Psalm 32:1-2) |

35 | How do i find Peace through Suffering? | Ps 69:1 | Pastor Glenn | 60713
Psalm 27 An Exuberant Declaration of Faith A Psalm of David. 1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? 2When the wicked came against me To eat up my flesh, My enemies and foes, They stumbled and fell. 3Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; Though war may rise against me, In this I will be confident. 4One thing I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD, And to inquire in His temple. 5For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock. 6And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me; Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD. 7Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice! Have mercy also upon me, and answer me. 8When You said, "Seek My face," My heart said to You, "Your face, LORD, I will seek." 9Do not hide Your face from me; Do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help; Do not leave me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation. 10When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the LORD will take care of me. 11Teach me Your way, O LORD, And lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies. 12Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries; For false witnesses have risen against me, And such as breathe out violence. 13I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living. 14Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD! |

36 | The peace of Jerusalem? | Ps 122:6 | Pastor Glenn | 157326
Hello Mommapbs, I feel that based on history, as well as, Rev 12, Jews are a high priority target of Satan. Just as we pray specific prayers for those that have rule over us, or for the sick, we should also pray specific prayers for the people (woman of Rev 12) that brought forth our Savior. Isn't salvation of the Jews (John 4:22) and the gospel to the Jew first (Acts 1:8; Rom 1:16)? Praying general prayers for world peace is good, but more specific prayers can bring more specific results. James 5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Brother Glenn |

37 | Why the spotlight on gays? | Prov 6:16 | Pastor Glenn | 141997
Hello Nelson9770, If someone warns us to leave our house because it is on fire, there is no time to complain about whether it is unfair to warn us. God simply wants us to turn from our wicked ways so that we don't die in our sins: Eze 33:11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel? |

Did God hear Cain's prayer? Gen 4:13 Cain said to the LORD, "My punishment is too great to bear! Gen 4:14 "Behold, You have driven me this day from the face of the ground; and from Your face I will be hidden, and I will be a vagrant and a wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me." Gen 4:15 So the LORD said to him, "Therefore whoever kills Cain, vengeance will be taken on him sevenfold." And the LORD appointed a sign for Cain, so that no one finding him would slay him. |

39 | a time for every purpose under heaven | Eccl 3:8 | Pastor Glenn | 139620
He-man, Please look at the very next chapter of Romans: Romans 13:4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. The soldier and police both fit into this category of "minister of God". You are right, as individual citizens, we follow Romans 12. This is also applies to where Jesus explained "an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth": Exodus 21:24 Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, Leviticus 24:20 Breach for breach, eye for eye, tooth for tooth: as he hath caused a blemish in a man, so shall it be done to him again. Deuteronomy 19:21 And thine eye shall not pity; but life shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot. Matthew 5:38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: |

40 | We shouldn't be in the military? | Eccl 3:8 | Pastor Glenn | 139649
hello He-man, As you quoted: "Rom 12 ...18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. ..." Notice here that it says "If it be possible...". Also notice that it says "... Vengeance is mine ...". So soldiers and police are used by God (Rom 13:4). It is OK for a Christian to join the police or military. However, in anything that we do, we should check with God first in prayer. But if a person is already in the military should not desert their duty. Does this answer your question? Pastor Glenn |
