102 | Why God allows such tragedy | Rom 8:28 | Pastor Glenn | 140840
Amen and Amen EdB! ngkh, I wanted to share a few scriptures concerning how much God cares, but men fail to repent even when disaster strikes: Jer 9 23 Thus says the LORD: "Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, Let not the mighty man glory in his might, Nor let the rich man glory in his riches; 24But let him who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me, That I am the LORD, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight," says the LORD. It is so good to know that God delights in exercising lovingkindness, judgement, and righteousness in the earth. Also, notice how people in Jesus' day didn't know how to respond to tragedy either: Luke 13 4 Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? 5 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish." This condition gets worse in times of great sin: Revelation 16:11 They blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and did not repent of their deeds. Revelation 16:21 And great hail from heaven fell upon men, each hailstone about the weight of a talent. Men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail, since that plague was exceedingly great. If people would repent there would be less tragedy in this world, but death is still sure in this life. God is offering eternal peace, without pain or tears for the next life. It was Adam that brought sin and death into the world, but we Christians need to seek a close relationship to God to make things better: 2 Chronicles 7 13 If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; 14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 15 Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place. The Question should not be why did God allow such tragedy. The question ought to be why arn't many of God's people "... which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; ". Pastor Glenn |

103 | Aren't we in the age of GRACE? | Rom 8:28 | Pastor Glenn | 141051
Hello ngkh, "I thought with the coming of Christ, Paul said that we are no longer ruled by law but by grace. " This is true. But, I did not mention law, nor did I use scriptures that were based on law. "... We only need to believe and have faith that God loves us, blessings instead of harms shall come to us." We still need to live in love. It can be deceptive to say we believe while walking in sin: The Test of Knowing Him 1 John 2 3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked. I quoted this scripture before (among others): Luke 13 4 Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? 5 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish." As Jesus said here, this does not mean that they were worse sinners than others. But repentance does avert these kinds of disasters: Jer 18 7The instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, to pull down, and to destroy it, 8if that nation against whom I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I thought to bring upon it. 9And the instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it, 10if it does evil in My sight so that it does not obey My voice, then I will relent concerning the good with which I said I would benefit it. 104 | Sorry | Rom 8:28 | Pastor Glenn | 141076
Hello ngkh, "We will never know if those dead Christians are what 1John 2:3 said they are, will we? " Only God knows our hearts even better than we do. He deals with us based on what is really there: Jer 17 9 "The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? 10 I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings. Hebrews 4 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. "... Even your new post mentioned repentence, disobedience, evil." We should always be willing to humble ourselves and pray and seek God's face and turn from our wicked ways. When we are too proud, we deceive ourselves and do not listen to God's warning. 1 Cor 6 9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,[a] nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. No, we do not know peoples hearts, whether they are good or evil. So we cannot judge. Bad things happen to good people too, but it works out for their good. 1 Pet 3 16 having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed. 17 For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. 18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us[a] to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit, 1 Pet 4 12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. Romans 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Amos 3 6 If a trumpet is blown in a city, will not the people be afraid? If there is calamity in a city, will not the LORD have done it? 7 Surely the Lord GOD does nothing, Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets. Pastor Glenn |

105 | God selection for His protection | Rom 8:32 | Pastor Glenn | 91158
confusing, Welcome back to the forum. God protected Jesus for a time, but He came into the world for the purpose of dying for our sins. He was greater than Abel, because Christ was perfect, but God did not spare Him: Romans 8 28And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. 29For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? 33Who shall bring a charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. 34Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. 35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36As it is written: "For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter."[3] 37Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Also, we are pilgrims in this world. But death is not final: Hebrews 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth: 1 corinthians 15 50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. 51Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed-- 52in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory." 55"O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?" 56The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. 57But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Pastor Glenn |

106 | Does God "pass-over" or does He "harden" | Rom 9:18 | Pastor Glenn | 138240
nwells, We must take all of scripture into consideration here. The vast majority is telling men of their own responsibility. If it was only a matter of God choosing who He wills, then 2/3rds of scripture would become meaningless. For instance, examine these scriptures for starters: Eze 18:25-32; 33:10-20, John 3:14-21, and Jer 31:29-30 Hope this helps, Pastor Glenn |

107 | "Romans Road" type verses in the OT | Rom 11:8 | Pastor Glenn | 86685
Gator71642, The closest reference is to verse 8: Deuteronomy 30 14But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it. 15"See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, 16in that I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the LORD your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess. 17But if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them, 18I announce to you today that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to go in and possess. 19I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; 20that you may love the LORD your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them." Isaiah 53 shows the need for the Messiah to die for our sins: Isaiah 53 The Sin-Bearing Messiah 1 Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed? 2For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, And as a root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness; And when we see Him, There is no beauty that we should desire Him. 3He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. 4Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. 5But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. 6All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. 7He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth. 8He was taken from prison and from judgment, And who will declare His generation? For He was cut off from the land of the living; For the transgressions of My people He was stricken. 9And they[1] made His grave with the wicked-- But with the rich at His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was any deceit in His mouth. 10Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, And the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand. 11He shall see the labor of His soul,[2] and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, For He shall bear their iniquities. 12Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, And He was numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors. 108 | Bearing arms as a Christian | Rom 13:4 | Pastor Glenn | 103876
Cheryl, Have you read this?: Romans 13 1 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. 2Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. 3For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. 4For he is God's minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God's minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. 5Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience' sake. 6For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God's ministers attending continually to this very thing. May God bless you for your good work and sacrifice for us, Pastor Glenn |

Galatians 5:16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 111 | Effect on a "Seekers" service? | 1 Cor 5:12 | Pastor Glenn | 93483
newoldstock, It is difficult to see people embarrassed in public. However, we must trust that God knows the best way to handle these situations. These ways of dealing with sin is further proof that men could not devise the holy bible without God's authorship. We often feel that people misunderstand us, but God knows our heart, that we are basically good. But, on the contrary, our sinful nature is very wicked and deceitful. Only God can know the evil in our hearts and how to deal with it. Gen 6 5Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. Jer 17 9"The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? 10I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings. So He has told the church how to handle it in scriptures like 1 Corinthians 5. The question then becomes, do we know a better way than God knows? We often think the best of ourselves and that God will save most people. We often feel that most people are decent enough to be saved. Mat 7 13 "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. But, this is really part of our humanist philosophy that is taught in our schools. This is why so many of us were so shocked after the Columbine high school shootings. No, I am not saying that adultery in the church is as bad as murder. What I am saying is that if we valued our relationship with God, then we would hate any other sin just as much as we hate murder. All sin ruins our relationship with God. (Psalm 51) People need to be encouraged to do three things: 1. Make up their minds. Joshua 24:15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." 2. Count the cost. Luke 14:28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it-- 3. Follow God "fully". Numbers 14:24 But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it. 1 Kings 11:6 Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and did not fully follow the LORD, as did his father David. 112 | Still an adulteress if I marry again? | 1 Cor 7:11 | Pastor Glenn | 87923
Squirrel0123, First of all, you should be concerned about retaining or restoring your relationship with God. Read Psalm 51 and see your pastor. Keep Your Marriage Vows 10 Now to the married I command, yet not I but the Lord: A wife is not to depart from her husband. 11But even if she does depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband. And a husband is not to divorce his wife. 12But to the rest I, not the Lord, say: If any brother has a wife who does not believe, and she is willing to live with him, let him not divorce her. 13And a woman who has a husband who does not believe, if he is willing to live with her, let her not divorce him. 14For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband; otherwise your children would be unclean, but now they are holy. 15But if the unbeliever departs, let him depart; a brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases. But God has called us to peace. 16For how do you know, O wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, O husband, whether you will save your wife? 39A wife is bound by law as long as her husband lives; but if her husband dies, she is at liberty to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord. 40But she is happier if she remains as she is, according to my judgment--and I think I also have the Spirit of God. 113 | Aborted babies saved? | 1 Cor 7:14 | Pastor Glenn | 66738
jo par, We see many things only in part. When it comes to mercy, justice, and righteousness, I already know that He is saving far more people than you or I would. The Lord is totally just and righteous and His mercy endures forever: Psalm 19:9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. In the end, even the angels of God will declare His righteous judgements. They are not "yes" men. They are truly watching and recognizing how wonderful God is and how He is working every detail of life, as well as, His knowledge of the past, present and future to save us from sin. But some people just keep making the choice for Satan time after time: Revelation 16:5And I heard the angel of the waters saying: "You are righteous, O Lord,[2] The One who is and who was and who is to be,[3] Because You have judged these things. 6For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, And You have given them blood to drink. For[4] it is their just due." 7And I heard another from[5] the altar saying, "Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are Your judgments." Pastor Glenn |

Hello pgs, 1Co 15:52 1Co 15:51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 1Co 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 1Co 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 1Co 15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 1Th 4:13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 1Th 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 1Th 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 1Th 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 1Th 4:18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words. 115 | HOW did He take our sin upon Himself? | 2 Cor 5:21 | Pastor Glenn | 91142
Parable, This is a very complex set of questions. The bible has a lot to say about them in many different places. You asked: "What I do not understand, is HOW those sins were taken up by Him, " Jesus is the great sacrificial Lamb. Without the sheding of blood there is no remission of sins. Acts 10:43 To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins." Hebrews 9:22 And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission. "HOW those sins were crucified with Him, " We are born again of the spirit. Flesh and blood of our natural selves shall not inherit the kingdom of heaven. Romans 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. Colossians 3:5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: One thing that is very hard for us to understand is eternity. God uses an eternal Lamb to take away the sins of all that accept Him by faith for all time. Time is meaningless for His sacrifice. Revelation 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. "and HOW He was made sin in our place." Read all of Hebrews 9. Heb 11 13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them,[3] embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. 14For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland. 15And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return. 16But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them. Pastor Glenn |

118 | Is C. Dollar teaching the truth? | Gal 1:8 | Pastor Glenn | 72132
C. Dollar seems to teach only the gospel of the dollar. 1 Timothy 6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 1 Timothy 6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; 1 Timothy 6:18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; James 1:10 But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. James 2:5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him? James 2:6 But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats? Revelation 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: Revelation 3:18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. |

119 | Why God only help Israeal people? | Gal 3:8 | Pastor Glenn | 83298
Figoyuen, This is a very good question. I see from your previous posts here that you are a new Christian. I will try to answer your question. May the Lord help me to give you understanding. God's plan to send Jesus the Christ (the Messiah) into the world required a man of faith to become the father of a Kingdom of Priests to lead the world to God: Exodus 19 5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. 6 And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel." They were also required to birth the Messiah to save the world from their sins. God always had the whole world in mind for salvation. He wanted Israel to be the leaders through His personal agreements (covenant) with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (who was renamed to "Israel"). Genesis 28 12Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. 13And behold, the LORD stood above it and said: "I am the LORD God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and your descendants. 14Also your descendants shall be as the dust of the earth; you shall spread abroad to the west and the east, to the north and the south; and in you and in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed. 15Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you." Romans 4:9 Does this blessedness then come upon the circumcised only, or upon the uncircumcised also? For we say that faith was accounted to Abraham for righteousness. Romans 4:12 and the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of the faith which our father Abraham had while still uncircumcised. Romans 4:13 For the promise that he would be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. Romans 4:16 Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all Galatians 3:7 Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham. Galatians 3:8 And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, "In you all the nations shall be blessed."[3:8 Genesis 12:3; 18:18; 22:18; 26:4; 28:14] Galatians 3:9 So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham. Galatians 3:14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Hebrews 11:8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. Hebrews 11:17 By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, As Christians we are hiers to the promises with a better covenant through Jesus Christ: 1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; I hope these scriptures help, Pastor Glenn |

butch, Gal 3 19 What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator. 20Now a mediator does not mediate for one only, but God is one. 21Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law. 22But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. 23But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. 24Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. |
