102 | Where are Ephraim and Dan in Rev 7 | Judg 18:30 | Pastor Glenn | 80240
Asis, This is an excellent question. I had noticed this in the past and noticed that commentaries do not say much about why Mannaseh is in place of Dan. I wonder if Dan ever repented as a tribe of their idolatry: Judges 18:30 Then the children of Dan set up for themselves the carved image; and Jonathan the son of Gershom, the son of Manasseh,[18:30 Septuagint and Vulgate read [Moses.] ] and his sons were priests to the tribe of Dan until the day of the captivity of the land. I also notice that "half the tribe of Manasseh" seems to gain increasing prominance in the scriptures: Judges 22 30Now when Phinehas the priest and the rulers of the congregation, the heads of the divisions[3] of Israel who were with him, heard the words that the children of Reuben, the children of Gad, and the children of Manasseh spoke, it pleased them. 31Then Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest said to the children of Reuben, the children of Gad, and the children of Manasseh, "This day we perceive that the LORD is among us, because you have not committed this treachery against the LORD. Now you have delivered the children of Israel out of the hand of the LORD." I wonder also if there are Hebrew Christians on this forum that may have better insight concerning the tribe of Dan. 103 | how did they structure the church in NT? | Heb 10:25 | Pastor Glenn | 77062
greatfullydead, Welcome to the forum. You said, "I am a part of a worldwide fellowship that has recently came to realize that the organization of the church was taking away the freedom of the chrisitians." What does it mean to take away the freedom of the Christians? Have you studied the book of Acts of the Apostols? Also, you should study the book of Timothy for starters. If Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior, then you should avoid saying "We do not want...". The question should be "What does the Lord want?" Greatfullydead is a good handle for those who have died to themselves and begun to walk in the Spirit as in Gal 5:16-26. Hope this helps, Pastor Glenn |

104 | difference between your soul and spirit | 1 Thess 5:23 | Pastor Glenn | 75103
Charlie1, I think that they are not the same: 1 Thessalonians 5:23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Job 7:11 "Therefore I will not restrain my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul. Isaiah 26:9 With my soul I have desired You in the night, Yes, by my spirit within me I will seek You early; For when Your judgments are in the earth, The inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness. |

105 | wife submitting to ungodly husband | 1 Pet 3:1 | Pastor Glenn | 74918
coltonjunior, You asked "... Are there any passages that tell a woman what to do or how to act torward her husband, when he is not a godly or christlike man ? " 1 Peter 3 1 Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives, 2when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear. 3Do not let your adornment be merely outward--arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel-- 4rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. 5For in this manner, in former times, the holy women who trusted in God also adorned themselves, being submissive to their own husbands, 6as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose daughters you are if you do good and are not afraid with any terror. 1 Corinthians 7 10 Now to the married I command, yet not I but the Lord: A wife is not to depart from her husband. 11But even if she does depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband. And a husband is not to divorce his wife. 12But to the rest I, not the Lord, say: If any brother has a wife who does not believe, and she is willing to live with him, let him not divorce her. 13And a woman who has a husband who does not believe, if he is willing to live with her, let her not divorce him. 14For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband; otherwise your children would be unclean, but now they are holy. 15But if the unbeliever departs, let him depart; a brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases. But God has called us to peace. 16For how do you know, O wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, O husband, whether you will save your wife? |

106 | Who are "the other Gods"? | Deut 11:1 | Pastor Glenn | 74910
Frank, The "other gods" are idols and/or demons. Exodus 20:3 "You shall have no other gods before Me. Notice that the true God is not giving credence to those other gods. He warns His people not to decieve themselves into thinking that there are "other gods" responsible for blessing them: Deuteronomy 11 13"And it shall be that if you earnestly obey My commandments which I command you today, to love the LORD your God and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul, 14then I[2] will give you the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil. 15And I will send grass in your fields for your livestock, that you may eat and be filled.' 16Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be deceived, and you turn aside and serve other gods and worship them, 17lest the LORD's anger be aroused against you, and He shut up the heavens so that there be no rain, and the land yield no produce, and you perish quickly from the good land which the LORD is giving you. Often even now we as Christians are in danger of attributing our blessings to our jobs, our education, or our ingenuity. We sometimes lean towards worship of our possessions instead of the one true God. God is well aware of how we tend to decieve ourselves: Isaiah 44:9 Those who make an image, all of them are useless, And their precious things shall not profit; They are their own witnesses; They neither see nor know, that they may be ashamed. Revelation 9:20 But the rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk. There is only one true and living God. Pastor Glenn |

108 | Did Eve know about the tree of life? | Gen 3:22 | Pastor Glenn | 72710
johnbakas, I cannot find evidence that they knew of the power of the TOL to make them live forever from what was "told" to them. However; I also feel that they knew everything about it based on the following scriptures: Gen 2 19Out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name. 20So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him. Heb 11 4 By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks. Adam's pre-fall spiritual condition was probably better than Abel's. I feel that his faith was also probably better than Abel's. This combination of spiritual insight and faith allowed Adam to give appropriate names to all animals and birds. They also must have passed on the knowledge of the need for blood sacrifice to Cain and Abel. Sure they had God's example of slaying an animal to make clothing to cover their nakedness, where the leaves were not acceptable. So by their faith and spirituality, I would think that they did know the most important thing about the most important tree in the garden. Hope this helps, Pastor Glenn |

109 | Is C. Dollar teaching the truth? | Gal 1:8 | Pastor Glenn | 72132
C. Dollar seems to teach only the gospel of the dollar. 1 Timothy 6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 1 Timothy 6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; 1 Timothy 6:18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; James 1:10 But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. James 2:5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him? James 2:6 But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats? Revelation 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: Revelation 3:18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. |

110 | God/Man, Man/Man Relationships | Gen 3:8 | Pastor Glenn | 71664
I agree with David 24597 that the scriptures indicate family relationship that goes even beyond friendship: Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God. Romans 9:26 "And it shall come to pass in the place where it was said to them, "You are not My people,' There they shall be called sons of the living God."[Hosea 1:10] Hosea 1 10 "Yet the number of the children of Israel Shall be as the sand of the sea, Which cannot be measured or numbered. And it shall come to pass In the place where it was said to them, "You are not My people,'[1] There it shall be said to them, "You are sons of the living God.' 1 John 3 1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God![1] Therefore the world does not know us,[2] because it did not know Him. 2Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 3And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. |

111 | Lifespan of Adam in Eden | Gen 3:22 | Pastor Glenn | 71005
pawandavid, The bible does not say. However, Seeing that the tree of life was also in the middle of the garden and that God put them out before they could eat "also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever", it could have been just a matter of only days. Gen 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: It appears that had they chosen the tree of life first, sin would not have entered the world. 112 | Is Jesus Gods son? | Heb 1:5 | Pastor Glenn | 71001
Tony, Welcome to the forum. Before Jesus was born into the world, He had only a spiritual nature. He was God, and was known as the Word (John 1). But after His birth, He gained a human nature (like ours) in addition to his spiritual (God) nature. For better insight, please read both John chapter 1 and Hebrews chapter 1. Pastor Glenn |

113 | Is God somehow responsible? | Rom 1:20 | Pastor Glenn | 70268
This is a regular atheist question. To accuse the creator of all things of evil; thereby judging the great Judge, is not our place. We have many direct, and indirect evils to answer for. If He uses the same measuring stick against us that this question poses against Him, then we are left in a totally hopeless position indeed. Pastor Glenn |

114 | Error in the NIV? | John 5:4 | Pastor Glenn | 69385
"Q. Are verses (John 5:4, Matt. 17:21, Matt. 18:11, Acts 8:37, etc.) missing? A. No. Check the footnotes. These verses all appear as footnotes in some translations, as they are not present on the earliest or most reliable manuscripts. If you want to see these verses, be sure to either view the entire chapter, or any span of verses that includes the verse directly preceding the apparent "missing" verse. Q. What do the footnotes NU-Text and M-text in the NKJV mean? A. The makers of New King James Version sought to make no evaluation of readings, but simply sought to clearly indicate the manuscript source of readings. According to the New King James Version Preface: Where significant variations occur in the New Testament Greek Manuscripts, textual notes are classified as follows: NU-Text These variations from the traditional text generally represent the Alexandrian or Egyptian type of text [the oldest, but sometimes questioned text].They are found in the Critical Text published in the Twenty-sixth edition of the Nestle-Aland Greek New Testament (N) and in the United Bible Society's third edition (U), hence the acronym "NU-text." M-Text This symbol indicates points of variation in the Majority Text from the traditional text [a concensus of most Greek manuscripts]. It should be noted that M stands for whatever reading is printed in the published Greek New Testament According to the Majority Text, whether supported by overwhelming, strong, or only a divided majority textual tradition." http://bible.gospelcom.net/help/ |

115 | does prayer produce measureable results? | Matt 16:4 | Pastor Glenn | 69383
dennis2tw, Welcome to the forum. Matthew 16 4A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet[1] Jonah." And He left them and departed. It would talk a prophet on the order of Elijah to hear from God and pull it off, but Jonah like prophets is all that God sends to "A wicked and adulterous generation" such as ours. Remember that Jonah performed no miracles for Ninevah, but they believed God anyway and repented. Therefore Jesus said: Matthew 12:41 The men of Nineveh will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and indeed a greater than Jonah is here. We already have the testimony of thousands that were touched by the miracles of Jesus Christ's 3 year ministry that changed history. He alone fulfilled vast numbers of Hebrew prophecies. God knows that this generation is full of those that are lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God. Biblically, it seems that God grants more miracles to those that are being decieved by Satan, but are also likely to respond in faith. God knows our hearts, but all too often our hearts are no good. So I do not feel that God will show Himself in a study in these times. Based on all that He has already done and shown through the centuries I think that He would choose not to. But, if you want to see His miracles, go out on missionary trips to the jungles of Africa, the far reaches of China and other lands that have been oppressing Christianity and I believe that God will show Himself strong through your hands as the Spirit moves. 116 | contaminated by idols, strangled meat | Acts 15:20 | Pastor Glenn | 68283
guitarmonkey, We talked about this a little bit at: ID# 64543 Personally I see this as applying to both Jews and Gentiles. I think there is scripture concerning "...what is strangled and from blood.". These may be related to the fact that the spirit of life is in the blood. This seems to go beyond just "cerimonial laws". The spirit of the animals is supposed to return to the ground, but it is wrong to let it go through our bodies (Ecclesiastes 3:21). Why is this to be kept in the new testament? I think it is because God is saying in both the old and new testaments, that the life (spirit) is in the blood: Deuteronomy 12:23 Only be sure that thou eat not the blood: for the blood is the life; and thou mayest not eat the life with the flesh. Ecclesiastes 3:21 Who knows the spirit of the sons of men, which goes upward, and the spirit of the animal, which goes down to the earth? Ecclesiastes 12:7 and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it. Based on these scriptures concerning blood, I think that this was more than just a suggestion from the disciples. God's command "...for the blood is the life; and thou mayest not eat the life with the flesh. " is still true today for both Jew and Gentile. Pastor glenn |

117 | a human answer to my previous question | Matt 5:12 | Pastor Glenn | 67684
scrkuker, You wrote: "..help me..give me a passage to read to give me strength..I need encouragement..." I am not sure what kind of "human" answer you want. If you are a woman, then you can provide some of the emotional support that she may need. Other than that, she should consult with her school officials and/or the local police. If she asked only for "...a passage to read ..." then give her the word of God: John 4 14but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life." 15The woman said to Him, "Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw." Matthew 5 The Beatitudes (1) 1 And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. 2Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying: 3"Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted. 5Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth. 6Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled. 7Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy. 8Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God. 9Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God. 10Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11"Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. Psalm 37 The Heritage of the Righteous and the Calamity of the Wicked A Psalm of David. 1 Do not fret because of evildoers, Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. 2For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, And wither as the green herb. 3Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. 4Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. 5Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. 6He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday. 7Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. 8Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret--it only causes harm. 9For evildoers shall be cut off; But those who wait on the LORD, They shall inherit the earth. 10For yet a little while and the wicked shall be no more; Indeed, you will look carefully for his place, But it shall be no more. 11But the meek shall inherit the earth, And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. 12The wicked plots against the just, And gnashes at him with his teeth. 13The Lord laughs at him, For He sees that his day is coming. 14The wicked have drawn the sword And have bent their bow, To cast down the poor and needy, To slay those who are of upright conduct. 15Their sword shall enter their own heart, And their bows shall be broken. |

120 | Go out in the highways and thebyways!!!! | Luke 14:23 | Pastor Glenn | 67491
Mae64, I really cannot comment about your church or pastor, but here are two scriptures: 2 Corinthians 9 5Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren to go to you ahead of time, and prepare your generous gift beforehand, which you had previously promised, that it may be ready as a matter of generosity and not as a grudging obligation. The Cheerful Giver 6 But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. 8And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. 9As it is written: "He has dispersed abroad, He has given to the poor; His righteousness endures forever." Luke 14 The Parable of the Great Supper (1) 15 Now when one of those who sat at the table with Him heard these things, he said to Him, "Blessed is he who shall eat bread[3] in the kingdom of God!" 16Then He said to him, "A certain man gave a great supper and invited many, 17and sent his servant at supper time to say to those who were invited, "Come, for all things are now ready.' 18But they all with one accord began to make excuses. The first said to him, "I have bought a piece of ground, and I must go and see it. I ask you to have me excused.' 19And another said, "I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to test them. I ask you to have me excused.' 20Still another said, "I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.' 21So that servant came and reported these things to his master. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, "Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor and the maimed and the lame and the blind.' 22And the servant said, "Master, it is done as you commanded, and still there is room.' 23Then the master said to the servant, "Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. 24For I say to you that none of those men who were invited shall taste my supper."' God Bless, Pastor Glenn |
