Hello StarleyJim, Mat 21 42 Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the Scriptures: "The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone. This was the LORD's doing, And it is marvelous in our eyes'?[j] 43 "Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a nation bearing the fruits of it. 44 And whoever falls on this stone will be broken; but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder." 45 Now when the chief priests and Pharisees heard His parables, they perceived that He was speaking of them. 46 But when they sought to lay hands on Him, they feared the multitudes, because they took Him for a prophet. Jesus was quoting from Psalm 118:22, 23. This discussion begins at Mat 21:28. Over and over, Jesus has them to point out their own wickedness towards Him in parables. They come to realize they are the evil ones that He spoke of in the parables, but instead of repenting, they sought to attack Him. Jesus is the Stone that the builders (chief priests and Pharisees) refused (rejected or threw out). But He is become the Chief Cornerstone. This reference to Jesus as the Chief Cornerstone is a major fulfillment of prophecy (Isaiah 28:16, Psalm 118:22) that is referenced several times in the New Testament: 1. Psalm 118:22 The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone. 2. Matthew 21:42 Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the Scriptures: "The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone. This was the LORD's doing, And it is marvelous in our eyes'? [ Psalm 118:22, 23] 3. Mark 12:10 Have you not even read this Scripture: "The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone. 4. Luke 20:17 Then He looked at them and said, "What then is this that is written: "The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone'? [ Psalm 118:22] 5. Acts 4:11 This is the "stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.' [ Psalm 118:22] 6. Ephesians 2:20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 7. 1 Peter 2:6 Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture, "Behold, I lay in Zion A chief cornerstone, elect, precious, And he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame." [ Isaiah 28:16] 8. 1 Peter 2:7 Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient, [ NU-Text reads to those who disbelieve.] "The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone," |

Razman, Notice the "circle of the earth": Isa 40:21 Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth? Isa 40:22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in: Also notice "hangeth the earth upon nothing": Job 26:7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing. Looks like an ancient discription of planetary orbit that would pass any definition of relativity that Einstein could have come up with. Hope this helps, Pastor Glenn |

Amen Brother Hank, I also like the story of Daniel and the 3 Hebrew boys that learned science under the King of Babylon's best instructors. It was the fear of the Lord that made them 10 times better than all others. Daniel 1:4 Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans. Psalms 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever. Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. Keep up the good work here Hank and all others here that continually defend the faith. |

184 | more outstanding Hebrew scriptures? | Is 53:1 | Pastor Glenn | 63095
In addition to Isaiah 53, Psalm 2, and Psalm 110, are there more outstanding Hebrew scriptures for searching Jews? I see these as outstanding because they readily show that no one else in history could possibly fulfil these prophecies of the Messiah except Jesus Christ. They thereby, link the old testament with the new testament. God Bless, Pastor Glenn |

Wow Searcher, That site is Excellent! Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. God Bless, Pastor Glenn |

Is 55 7Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the LORD, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon. 8"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," says the LORD. 9"For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. There are more. |

187 | The spirit Like a Flood? | Is 59:19 | Pastor Glenn | 112561
punkiedo, I compare this to Rev 12: Rev 12:15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. Rev 12:16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. Rev 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. So based on that, to me the coma should stay right where it is. Pastor Glenn |

188 | she brought forth her children? | Is 66:12 | Pastor Glenn | 85632
jbw, Very good answer from Scribe. “This whole chapter is one to meditate on often. It is an example of the type of passages in the prophets that are the foundation for the scriptures in the New Testament. This prophecy is all about the conversion of the Gentiles through the Man Child that would be born in Israel, the relationship of Jerusalem to the church, both in it’s origins and it’s heritage, and the coming of judgment upon those that rejected the Lord, with the glorification of the church before their eyes. This chapter covers big picture thinking concerning the plan of God from the birth of Christ, the beginning of the church which came about as it were in a day with Pentecost and the future creation of a new heaven and earth. The beginning of the chapter is all about how that God is not pleased with the legal works of the Jew but is seeking the humble repentant heart of faith instead, and will accept such a heart whether found in Jew or Gentile.” I think that Isaiah 54 might be a companion to this chapter to meditate on. What I like about these kinds of scripture is how they add enormous credibility to the scriptures against the skeptics that try to say that the scriptures were made up by men. While the Jews were hostile towards the Gospel message of Jesus Christ, they had no reason to embed the Gospel of “salvation to the Gentiles” throughout the Hebrew scriptures. So the presence of "hostile witnesses" is very important to tying the old testament together with the new testament. Therefore, the only explaination is that the entire Christian bible of 66 books, written by over 40 secretaries over a time span of over 1400 years, was motivated not by men, but by the single mind of God! 190 | How important is self esteem? | Ezek 16:44 | Pastor Glenn | 89402
Below are a number of scriptures that refer to sinners with low self esteem. It is sometimes said that you must love yourself before you can love others. Is this true? How does God feel about it according to these scriptures? Eze 16 says a lot. Ezekiel 6:9 Then those of you who escape will remember Me among the nations where they are carried captive, because I was crushed by their adulterous heart which has departed from Me, and by their eyes which play the harlot after their idols; they will loathe themselves for the evils which they committed in all their abominations. Ezekiel 16:5 No eye pitied you, to do any of these things for you, to have compassion on you; but you were thrown out into the open field, when you yourself were loathed on the day you were born. Ezekiel 16:45 You are your mother's daughter, loathing husband and children; and you are the sister of your sisters, who loathed their husbands and children; your mother was a Hittite and your father an Amorite. Ezekiel 20:43 And there you shall remember your ways and all your doings with which you were defiled; and you shall loathe yourselves in your own sight because of all the evils that you have committed. Ezekiel 36:31 Then you will remember your evil ways and your deeds that were not good; and you will loathe yourselves in your own sight, for your iniquities and your abominations. |

Thank you for your response George, The scriptures that you posted have to do with Christians. I wanted to point out God's "temporary" disregard for the self esteem of sinners. Sinners need to be broken to lead to repentance: Psalm 51 17The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart-- These, O God, You will not despise. Pastor Glenn |

Thank you mommapbs, After reading the excepts from the book "The Search for Significance" on Amazon.com, it appears well worth reading. So I plan to order it. Having read that book, can you comment on the people of Ezekiel 16 in light of what you have learned? Notice for example that they did not see themselves as being as bad as Sodom, but God says they were worse. The book refers to Christian people that do not have enough self esteem, whereas Ezekiel 16 refers to people with too much self esteem. Also, do you have any comments concerning David's brokeness in Psalms 51? Pastor Glenn |

195 | How important is self esteem? | Ezek 16:44 | Pastor Glenn | 89709
mommapbs, As a pastor I am very concerned with the un-repentent one. You said: "...I recognize my rebellion and repent in Godly sorrow (not to be confused with "low self esteem"!)and reflect upon who God says I am! This changes the way I think, and frees me from "performance" oriented living. It also gives me an understanding and compassion for others who are still in the grip of rebellion and "idolatry"! " How do we keep from giving the wrong impression to the lost; that Christ will accept them without their repenting? Keep in mind that the Jews of Ezekiel 16 were stuck in pride also: 56For your sister Sodom was not a byword in your mouth in the days of your pride, 57before your wickedness was uncovered. It was like the time of the reproach of the daughters of Syria[3] and all those around her, and of the daughters of the Philistines, who despise you everywhere. 58You have paid for your lewdness and your abominations," says the LORD. 59For thus says the Lord GOD: "I will deal with you as you have done, who despised the oath by breaking the covenant. 197 | Question about the "ZERO" theory. | Dan 1:4 | Pastor Glenn | 65788
zerotheory, Within your original thread you will notice question marks near a few of the replies if you scroll to the bottom of the window. You should notice two set of questions from me. From your original post I was wondering if you were a christian (by accepting Jesus Christ, the only begotten son of God, as your saviour). By the way, I think that you may find the book of Daniel quite interesting. Daniel 1:4 Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans. |

198 | dictatorship superior to democracy? | Dan 2:37 | Pastor Glenn | 82334
Is this scripture implying that dictatorship is superior to democracy? Dan 2 37You, O king, are a king of kings. For the God of heaven has given you a kingdom, power, strength, and glory; 38and wherever the children of men dwell, or the beasts of the field and the birds of the heaven, He has given them into your hand, and has made you ruler over them all--you are this head of gold. 39But after you shall arise another kingdom inferior to yours; then another, a third kingdom of bronze, which shall rule over all the earth. 40And the fourth kingdom shall be as strong as iron, inasmuch as iron breaks in pieces and shatters everything; and like iron that crushes, that kingdom will break in pieces and crush all the others. 41Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter's clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay. 42And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile. 43As you saw iron mixed with ceramic clay, they will mingle with the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, just as iron does not mix with clay. |

EdB, I agree with all of your comments, Especially: "However most Democracies give into dictatorships when social morals drop so low that crime and anarchy reign. The framers of our constitution realized this and most commented that the democracy of the US hinged on the Christian ethics and morals, if they disappear the democracy will collapse. " As our courts and political leaders attempt to become more secular, there is deminishing respect for the constitution, for police, for parents, and for other authorities and citizens. We have got to recognize God of the bible as the ultimate authority or we are left with no basis for deciding the difference between right and wrong. Our children will begin to ask: "who gave parents and teachers the right to tell me what to do?" and we will not be able to provide a satisfactory answer. As for King Nebuchadnezzar, God taught him a 7 year lesson that gave him respect for the untimate authority: 31While the word was still in the king's mouth, a voice fell from heaven: "King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: the kingdom has departed from you! 32And they shall drive you from men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. They shall make you eat grass like oxen; and seven times shall pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He chooses." 33That very hour the word was fulfilled concerning Nebuchadnezzar; he was driven from men and ate grass like oxen; his body was wet with the dew of heaven till his hair had grown like eagles' feathers and his nails like birds' claws. Nebuchadnezzar Praises God 34 And at the end of the time[2] I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me; and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever: For His dominion is an everlasting dominion, And His kingdom is from generation to generation. 35All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; He does according to His will in the army of heaven And among the inhabitants of the earth. No one can restrain His hand Or say to Him, "What have You done?" 36At the same time my reason returned to me, and for the glory of my kingdom, my honor and splendor returned to me. My counselors and nobles resorted to me, I was restored to my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added to me. 37Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, all of whose works are truth, and His ways justice. And those who walk in pride He is able to put down. |

You said: "Frankly, I'll take 2003 sinners over 1953's Pharisees any day. My sense is Jesus would too. " Jesus may take "repenting" sinners. Many are very comfortable to stay in their sins. Here are key scriptures concerning repentance: Jeremiah 18:8 if that nation against whom I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I thought to bring upon it. 2 Chronicles 7:14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Ezekiel 18 30"Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways," says the Lord GOD. "Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, so that iniquity will not be your ruin. 31Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel? 32For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies," says the Lord GOD. "Therefore turn and live!" Psalm 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, And all the nations that forget God. Pastor Glenn |
