181 | Jesus couldn't of gone up to heaven. | Luke 23:43 | prayon | 64251
Greetings Ed, I have to disagree with you that there is no one in Abraham's busom (or paradise)now for the reasons explained in my above answer to Joe. Many have died not ever hearing of Jesus. Those who lived righteous can not go to heaven because no one can enter in without Jesus. They lived righteous lives so they aren't in Hades. The only place left is is "paradise". prayon |

Joe, What about Matt 12:40 - "For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth" ? prayon
183 | Jesus couldn't of gone up to heaven. | Luke 23:43 | prayon | 64300
Greetings Ed, "got the keys" is just a saying that I have heard many times. What it really means to me is that Jesus conquered death 1Cor 15:56-57. I think it comes from Matt 16:18 where it says "The gates of hell shall not prevail". prayon

185 | Jesus couldn't of gone up to heaven. | Luke 23:43 | prayon | 64303
Greetings Hank, I am referring to the two sides mentioned that are part of Abraham's bosom. Paradise is the place that the righteous dead go. Luke 16:22-23 talk about it being a place where Abraham is. Paradise means garden. Hades is a place of torments (same passage). Does this help? prayon |

191 | Did any prophet come from Galilee? | Luke 24:19 | prayon | 65565
Greetings Cyclist, One person thought that Jonah was born in Galilee. Another thought Mohamed the Prophet was since the false prophet (Islam) usually rises up from where the true prophet comes from. I don't know the correct answer. The only thing I could find was that all the disciples were born there except Judas Ischariot. We already turned in our guesses. prayon

194 | John 11:35 Why did Jesus wept | John 11:33 | prayon | 53525
Greetings, According to the MacArthur Study Bible His tears were not generated out of mourning since He was to raise Lazarus, but out of grief for a fallen world entangled in sin-caused sorrow and death. prayon

Wow - talk about "hitting the nail on the head!" I think that everyone should read your answer. I also believe that a list of guidelines or intentions should be read as part of the sign-up process. It is so true that people have been nit-picking over trivial issues and denominational bias'. We truly need to remember that Jesus should be the head of this forum and before we place any question, note, or answer on it we should make sure in our own heart that the comment glorifies God and also that we have phrased it with the respect and love that He would use in answering. One of my biggest concerns on the forum is that someone who believes he/she knows the true word but has been deceived (ie. some sort of false religion) will mislead some of those who are not truly grounded in the word. However, the only answer to that is that God is in control and nothing will happen that He doesn't ordain. |

199 | what did he do to be replaced ? | Acts 1:23 | prayon | 125389
Greetings Emmaus, Actually Judas did not hang himself. Strongs tells us that hang also means to choke. So I believe a better way to read this would be Judas was all choked up. Let me explain - First in Acts 1:18 it says "Now Judas purchased a field of blood with the wages of iniquity and falling headlong he burst open and all his insides burst out" (Field of Blood) Field is personal possession Field of blood is a plot of land v. 18 – with reward he got for his wickedness (stealing throughout ministry) v. 19 People called it the field of blood Matt 27:7 calls the piece of land bought with the silver a potter’s field - 2 entirely different places Field of blood is a plot of land Mark 16:14 says that Jesus appeared to the 11 in the upper room butJohn 20 19-*24 – Thomas wasn’t there when Jesus came so Judas had to of been there since they had not chosen a replacement apostle yet. Again in Acts 1:13 it says all 12 went back to the upper room and Judas name is listed as one of them. If he would of indeed ran off and hung himself after he threw the pieces of silver back he could not of been with the 12 in the upper room. I can't remember where I read it but if I remember right hanging wasn't a form of suicide at that time. Judas died by throwing himself off a cliff on his own land which is why it was named Field of Blood. prayon |

200 | what did he do to be replaced ? | Acts 1:23 | prayon | 125416
John 20:19-24 talks about the first visit Jesus made to the apostles in the upper room. Mark 16:14 also talks about the first visit Jesus made to the apostles in the upper room. John says that Thomas was not there. Mark says that he appeared to the 11. Therefore at that one visit the only one missing of the 12 was Thomas therefore Judas was there. Granted it does not say that he jumped off a cliff but he had to of fallen a good distance for his belly to burst open and his insides come out. When one falls a short distance that does not happen ---- Thank God! prayon |
