101 | What is spiritual knocked down? | 1 Kin 8:11 | prayon | 52415
Greetings Hank! For the first time that I know of I have to disagree with you. I know many people who have been "slain in the spirit" numerous times. It was not a staged act. The only way I know of to describe it is that the Holy Spirit comes upon you so strongly that it puts you in a trance-like state. It can last for seconds to minutes. I will agree, however, that many on TV are staged as well as some in church, how many though only God knows. I will try to get you the scripture back up. agape, prayon

103 | Why is Elijah hidden so suddenly? | 1 Kin 17:3 | prayon | 9634
In verse 1 Elijah is making a prophecy; and second, whom the prophecy is really from. Elijah warns the ruling couple that their domain will experience a famine for years and that Baal's cult of deceit would face the challenge of all time. Elijah must of wanted to run through the city and warn the people of God's impending judgement. Elijah must of had great courage too, because the ruling couple were none other than the murderous, God hating Ahab and his wife Jezebel. God, however, had other plans and commanded Elijah to go and hide himself by the brook of Cherith. There could be two reasons for this command. First, it was for Elijah's protection. In 18:10 it states that there was no kingdom or nation that the wrathful Ahab had not searched to find Elijah Second, it was for Elijah's training, to provide time alone with God in "boot camp". God had great works for Elijah to do and to do these works God needed time to train him for these tasks. To rely solely on God and know that God would provide for all his needs. 105 | Is prayer of Jabez special? | 1 Chr 4:10 | prayon | 4449
I too have to agree with you that people do go "hog wild" on some of the 'latest things". However, and you knew that there would be one from someone - Ha Ha), I have to say that I am really enjoying the Left Behind Series. I love to seriously study the word. I try to spend as much time doing it as I can but sometimes I like to give my brain a rest and just read for fun. The series in my opinion has taken the word/prophecies and made a story of them as to how it might be in the future. I'm sure that many who have read the series have been "scared straight" a little and if it does that aren't they worth it? I would also bet that the series have gotten people to read the bible to see if the stories are really true. If it gets them to open the bible aren't they worth it? I also have to add that almost every time I have opened a Christian book I have learned something that has helped me in my walk. For example, I just finished a book calle "Word of Honor" by Terri Blackstock. From the book I have a much better understanding of what a covenant is and how one was made in the O.T. Isn't that good? In reading the Bible Code I gained "ammo" for the next time I had a chance to witness to someone who didn't believe the bible was accurate. Isn't that good? I do agree though that you must check everything you learn with the scriptures and many don't do that. You must also make sure to keep your priorities in the right order. With Christ's Love, prayon |

106 | Is prayer of Jabez special? | 1 Chr 4:10 | prayon | 4458
Your words unfortunetly do have more than a ring of truth where priorities and wisdom are concerned. Many don't have either right. Nothing should be put before the word of God. Over facination is bad, but as you say God can do anything!!! Praise the Lord!! |

107 | What is God's will for our lives? | Job 23:13 | prayon | 177468
HI Doc, I don't know if I necessarily believe that it was God's will that Joseph be sold into slavery. What motivated his brothers was not of God, and they are the ones that made the choice to sell him. I believe that Satan knew of the calling God had on Josephs life and tried to sabotage it just as he did by trying to kill all the boy babies in both Moses time and in Jesus' time. What I do know is that God will take any situation and turn it around for His glory. prayon

110 | beating your child with a rod | Prov 23:13 | prayon | 25623
Greetings Searcher, Why is it that you think the hand should not be used to discipline? prayon
111 | beating your child with a rod | Prov 23:13 | prayon | 25696
I understand where you are coming from and that is good for some and it oc course it depends on the age of the child. One point to remember though is that many parents loose their temper when they are disciplining a child and become excessive with the rod. When you use a hand on the back side you will feel it too and have a reminder when enough is enough. People also have the tendency to use inappropriate items such as cords, 2x4's, ect. Physical injury is very easy to cause when using an object such as a rod. Much less physical harm is the case of hand to back side contact. And of course you should never strike a child any where except the back side. prayon
112 | claiming things in your life | Is 53:5 | prayon | 136479
While God wants His children to prosper and drive nice cars and live in nice houses it's your attitude that really concerns me. Jesus said "I'm telling the solemn truth: Whenever you failed to do one of these things to someone who was being overlooked or ignored, that was me--you failed to do it to me." When ever we fail to provide for those in need - for those who are hungry, we fail to do for Him. The strongest believer lives not so much by apprehending Christ as by being apprehended of him (Phi 3:12),not so much by knowing God as by being known of him (Gal 4:9); and this the least child is capable of. If they cannot stretch out their hands to Christ, yet he can lay his hands on them, and so make them his own, and own them for his own. These starving childrenyou are saying that do not matter do belong to Him. Another thing - you do not know if they do know of Christ or not. There are still thousands of God's children in third world countries that are starving. One way God provides for them is by having those who are blessed such as you and me send finances for food. In your words it clearly relays that you are burying your head in the sand. Be sure of your actions because there will be many who will say "Master, we preached the Message, we bashed the demons, our God-sponsored projects had everyone talking." But Jesus will tell them, "I've never known you. Get away from me, you evil people." Mat 7:22-23. prayon |

I never said you were either. What I said was that you were burying your head in the sand if you think that there are no starving Christians in third world countries.

Hello Hank! Sometimes I think we are really more foolish and idolatrous today than they were back then. Don't we do the same things they did back then - worship the same things, sometimes in the same ways? Plus we have added a few new ones! agape, prayon

Greetings Johnny, We have never been released from the commandment in Malachi to tithe 10 percent. 1Cor 9:7 does not necessarily refer to only money. It can refer to time, or other things we can give also. For more information on both views please search tithing. prayon
120 | The Temptation of Christ | Matt 4:1 | prayon | 6148
Joe, but isn't it true that God gave Jesus a mortal body? "Christ Jesus, who though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness", Phil 2:6-7. Although He was and is equal to God, He submitted Himself - made Himself nothing - as He completely surrrendered Himself to the circumstances of God's choice. This tells us that Christ took on the form of the human body along with all it's traits and so was able to be tempted.
