130 | having to work the sabbath | Matt 12:1 | prayon | 33806
Greetings Dino, I disagree. The 10 commandments state "Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy", (Exo 20:8-11). We are no more rid of this commandment than we are any other commandment. We are still to remember the sabbath and we are to keep it holy. The reference you are referring to in Matt. 12 concerns the words that the priests had with Jesus because he allowed His disciples to pick grain on the Sabbath. Ordinary people were not allowed to do any work on the Sabbath, not even light a fire. The priest's work however doubled on the Sabbath (see Num 28:9-10). Therefore what Jesus was saying is that God's service takes precedence over Sabbath rules. The argument is that if priests who work in the temple on the Sabbath are guiltless because they further the worship of God, how much more are the disciples guiltless because they are serving Christ and obeying Him in their actions on the Sabbath. This exchange in no way deletes the Sabbath. prayon |

131 | having to work the sabbath | Matt 12:1 | prayon | 33810
No I am not. Exo 20:9-10 tells us that we are to work 6 days and the 7th day is to be a day of rest which we are to dedicate to the Lord. This day does not have to be on Sunday if you can not dedicate this day to the Lord because of work. We are told to take one day a week and dedicate a day to the Lord to worship Him and reflect on His goodness and mercy. I, as a nurse, have to do this on other days besides Sunday. prayon

133 | Knocked out by holy spirit | Matt 16:6 | prayon | 90523
Greetings, I disagree that being slain in the spirit is not scriptual and refer you to response ID # 5110. I also believe that it is unscriptual to judge how much faith a person has by whether he is healed or not. We are to build up not tear down a person. There can be any number of hinderences to his prayers being answered that have nothing to do with not having enough faith. Kenneth Hagin tells the story of how a man once came into the office of John G Lake's office and wanted to be healed from diabetes. The Lord told Dr. Lake that this man could not be healed because he owed someone some money from years ago. The man went to the mailbox and sent the money to the person he owed it to and by the time he returned to the office he was healed of the diabetes. Another example is of a pastor who was not hearing from God. The reason was that he was praying to Jesus instead of to the Father in Jesus name as the bible tells us to do. So you see, just because he is not healed does not mean that he lacks faith. prayon |

136 | Discussion Question | Matt 19:24 | prayon | 61475
Greetings Berean, I don't have a problem with this topic. I don't have the money to have a problem with this topic. I do think that it is an excellent topic for discussion or study. Many people have been taught and believe that it is unChrist-like to have anything of value. prayon

138 | Discussion Question | Matt 19:24 | prayon | 61516
Greetings Deb, In the East the donkey is as large as a small horse, often having a rich saddle and accouterments and carrying great men. The horse was for war (Prov 21:31), but the donkey was always used for peaceful events. Zechariah prophesied that Jesus would ride a donkey because He is the King of Peace, thus giving another indication that Jesus was indeed the Messiah. The donkey was a lowly beast. Christ's first coming to Israel was in meekness and peace, on a lowly beast of burden, and resulted in national rejection, suffering, death, and resurrection. No Jewish king since Solomon had ridden upon one officially. prayon
139 | Who is the man in this verse? | Matt 22:11 | prayon | 29547
Emmaus, Can't be. Where as we in a church can not see a person's true heart God can. If his heart was not pure he would never make it to the receiving line. prayon
140 | Does Mt. 22:39 assume self-love? | Matt 22:39 | prayon | 51132
Greetings Steve, I strongly disagree. First that she is incorrect. You must love yourself in order to love others. The key is the kind of love you have for yourself. The love you need is not one that is haughty and self centered, but a love for yourself that knows you are a good person and that you are worthy of Christ's love. Many people do not love themselves. I have been at that point myself. When you hate yourself you are definitly not thinking more of yourself than you ought!!! prayon |
