Subject: what did he do to be replaced ? |
Bible Note: Greetings Emmaus, Actually Judas did not hang himself. Strongs tells us that hang also means to choke. So I believe a better way to read this would be Judas was all choked up. Let me explain - First in Acts 1:18 it says "Now Judas purchased a field of blood with the wages of iniquity and falling headlong he burst open and all his insides burst out" (Field of Blood) Field is personal possession Field of blood is a plot of land v. 18 – with reward he got for his wickedness (stealing throughout ministry) v. 19 People called it the field of blood Matt 27:7 calls the piece of land bought with the silver a potter’s field - 2 entirely different places Field of blood is a plot of land Mark 16:14 says that Jesus appeared to the 11 in the upper room butJohn 20 19-*24 – Thomas wasn’t there when Jesus came so Judas had to of been there since they had not chosen a replacement apostle yet. Again in Acts 1:13 it says all 12 went back to the upper room and Judas name is listed as one of them. If he would of indeed ran off and hung himself after he threw the pieces of silver back he could not of been with the 12 in the upper room. I can't remember where I read it but if I remember right hanging wasn't a form of suicide at that time. Judas died by throwing himself off a cliff on his own land which is why it was named Field of Blood. prayon |
