161 | Problems w/ Carnal Christian Teaching? | Rom 7:14 | Pastor Glenn | 92216
Praise the Lord Radioman2, Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. Since the word of God is a two edged sword, it not only cuts when we swing it out; it can also cut us when we pull it in. What I am getting at is that the word of God is the key to cutting evil out of our thoughts and intents of our heart. I don't know about you, but I welcome His cutting me as a skilled brain surgeon removes tumors. The reason I am saying this is because, when taken as a whole, the word of God is extremely balanced against sin. When we seek out all that God's word has to say about any matter, the Word staightens us out in areas that we did not realize we even had a problem. This is why it is important to cross reference scriptures before coming to conclusions. I don't trust myself to understand how God feels about a subject until I have examined many scripture passages. Remember that God's thoughts are far to high over our thoughts: Isaiah 55 8"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," says the LORD. 9"For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. This is why the Diocese of New Hampshire of the Episcopal Church cannot see the need for repentance. All they see is a loving Jesus with open arms. They have closed their eyes and hardened their hearts. They forget that God is also the great rightious Judge that deals justice and expects and requires perfection. They will not abandon their own thoughts as the Word requests: Isaiah 55 6Seek the LORD while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near. 7Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the LORD, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon. I am very disturbed that more true Christians do not speak out against adultery in there own churches. Many seem to hate the self soul searching that repentance messages bring. They say "you are judging! For all have sinned and fallen short!" They say "what do you mean by shaming them? That is not loving!" Well it is "not loving" to let someone burn up when you could have told them that the house was on fire! Sorry Radioman2, but the preacher in me must speak out. God bless you, Pastor Glenn |

162 | Ques. re the Carnal Christian Teaching | Rom 7:14 | Pastor Glenn | 92067
No, I had not read the text of the article. I only skimmed through it. So here is some of what it says: "Consequently, if it can be established that the preponderance of Scripture teaches only two classes or categories of men--regenerate and unregenerate, converted and unconverted, those in Christ and those outside of Christ--the non-lordship position will be shown to be untenable. Before I turn to some of the errors and dangers of the "'Carnal Christian" teaching it may be wise to indicate what I am not saying. In this study of the "Carnal Christian" theory I am not overlooking the teaching of the Bible about sin in Christians, about babes in Christ, about growth in grace, about Christians who backslide grievously, and about the divine chastisement which Christians receive. I acknowledge that there are babes in Christ. In fact there are not only babes in Christ, but there are different stages of "babyhood" in understanding divine truth and in spiritual growth. I also recognize that there is a sense in which Christians may be said to be carnal, but I must add that there are different degrees of carnality. Every Christian is carnal in some area of his life at many times in his life--"the flesh lusteth against the Spirit" (Gal. 5:17). All the marks of Christianity are not equally apparent in all Christians. Nor are any of these marks manifest to the same degree in every period of any Christian's life. Love, faith, obedience, and devotion will vary in the same Christian in different periods of his Christian experience; in other words, there are many degrees of sanctification. The Christian's progress in growth is not constant and undisturbed. There are many hills and valleys in the process of sanctification; and there are many stumblings, falls and crooked steps in the pathway to the Celestial City. There are examples in the Bible of grievous falls and carnality in the lives of true believers. Thus we have the warnings of temporal judgment and of chastisement by our heavenly Father. These truths are all acknowledged and are not the point of this present study. The question we have to consider is: Does the Bible divide Christians into two categories? This is the issue at the heart of the "Carnal Christian" teaching. " So he mention different stages of "babyhood". Is he contradicting himself? I still say that he would have done a better job by including and analyzing the other scriptures that deal with babes, milk, lambs, and sheep. |

Look closely at these scriptures: Heb 5 12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. 13For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. 14But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. 1 Peter 2 1 Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, 2as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby,[1] 3if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious. He built his entire article on the idea of "carnal Christians" is a false teaching. In addition to Heb 5 and 1 Pet 2, Jesus teaches Peter to feed His "sheep", as well as, His "lambs": John 21 15 So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of Jonah,[2] do you love Me more than these?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Feed My lambs." 16He said to him again a second time, "Simon, son of Jonah,[3] do you love Me?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Tend My sheep." 17He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of Jonah,[4] do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep. Notice: verse 15 "Feed My lambs." verse 16 "Tend My sheep." verse 17 "Feed My sheep. " Does'nt this indicate "babes" (lambs) and "spiritual" (sheep) also? You ask: "Does the omission of "these other scriptures" invalidate all his other points, too?" No, but it appears that he should have found another statement other than the alleged false teaching of "carnal Christians" or "babes" to build the points of his argument on. Because otherwise why would there be scriptures pertaining to spiritual growth? |

Radioman2, This is in no way intended as a criticism of you or your Note either; only of what appears to be an incomplete article. By the way, I noticed your disclaimer. I do not see a reference to these scriptures in his article: Hebrews 5:12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. Hebrews 5:13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. 1 Peter 2:2 as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, Before making such a long article, most bible teachers try to locate as much scripture as possible concerning a subject. I just cannot understand why he did not even mention these other scriptures when most reference bibles cross references them together. I went back to check both pages, but I do not see Heb 5:12-13 or 1 Pet 2:2 anywhere. Am I wrong? I can accept correction. Pastor Glenn |

165 | What does "being a homosexual" mean? | Rom 1:19 | Pastor Glenn | 91824
Asis, I just noticed you screen name "Asis" can be seen as "As-is" or "Just as I am". God want us to come to Him "just as I am", without one plea. It is as the song says: "Just as I am, without one plea, But that Thy blood was shed for me, And that thou bidst me come to thee, O Lamb of God, I come! Just as I am, and waiting not To rid my soul of one dark blot, To thee whose blood can cleanse each spot, O Lamb of God, I come!" The bigger question is, "Are we taking in what the Bible says about our behavior and our relationship with God (the spirit of the word) or are we merely making a list of behaviors we must follow (the letter of the word) to be in right standing with God?" Just look at David. Are any of us any different? " No, we are not any different. That is why we need David's kind of repentance: Psalm 51 A Prayer of Repentance To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David when Nathan the prophet went to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba. 1 Have mercy upon me, O God, According to Your lovingkindness; According to the multitude of Your tender mercies, Blot out my transgressions. 2Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin. 3For I acknowledge my transgressions, And my sin is always before me. 4Against You, You only, have I sinned, And done this evil in Your sight-- That You may be found just when You speak,[1] And blameless when You judge. 5Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me. 6Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom. 7Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. 8Make me hear joy and gladness, That the bones You have broken may rejoice. 9Hide Your face from my sins, And blot out all my iniquities. 10Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. 12Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit. 13Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, And sinners shall be converted to You. 14Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, The God of my salvation, And my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness. 15O Lord, open my lips, And my mouth shall show forth Your praise. 16For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. 17The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart-- These, O God, You will not despise. |

166 | simply not aware of these scriptures? | Rom 1:19 | Pastor Glenn | 91813
Megiddo, You said: ".....it's important to remember who is speaking in some of the later books of the New Testament. Do I dispute the words...NO I do not. But there is a specific context for some fo these statements." Yes, there is a specific context for some of these statments of Paul. However, there is no doubt, he gives the specific context: 1 Corinthians 5 1 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and such sexual immorality as is not even named[1] among the Gentiles--that a man has his father's wife! 2And you are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he who has done this deed might be taken away from among you. 3For I indeed, as absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged (as though I were present) him who has so done this deed. 4In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, along with my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. "Now you say we should not even keep company with them...or did you quote that scripture for another reason...because if you believe that then there is no way to approach what we would call salvation for them? " Please pay close attention to all that Paul says. It does indeed apply to all real churches of Jesus Christ. You are not denying my words, this scripture is God's word. Paul deals with your concern about the homosexuals that have not yet come to Jesus' Church. Again I say, once a person has come, the first step is repentance. If they have repented, they should not feel comfortable with a life style of sin. They must also be held accountable by their church and be willing to submit to the church's rebuke. A person that truly wants God to change them looks forward to having that testimony of how God delivered them from sin. This is how we overcome the devil: Rev 12 11And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. Paul seeks a change in them so they may become "overcomers": 9 I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. 10Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. 11But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner--not even to eat with such a person. 12For what have I to do with judging those also who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside? 13But those who are outside God judges. Therefore "put away from yourselves the evil person." "If you believe that they will not be saved as homosexuals..then there is nothing more for you to do with them...so be it...GOd will judge them....so move on...let them be...and teach your children well." Again, they do not have to remain homosexual. You seem to assume that they cannot change. But look at what Jesus said: Matt 19 25When His disciples heard it, they were greatly astonished, saying, "Who then can be saved?" 26But Jesus looked at them and said to them, "With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." "Does that sound reasonable- or will you play God's wrath...GOd's punishment upon those you find abominable?" No. God wants to change them from the inside out. Pastor Glenn |

Confusing, You said: "When he created human, again its fell it show that he is not a good creator as you can see because of that creation of him millions of people die in pain, too many people suffer because of his creation (satan) and god cannot do something to stop it." First of all it seems that you are not learning anything from studying the bible. If all you can see is God as the great big failure, then why continue here? Is there something new that you are trying to find out? There are plenty of others that do want to learn and do not keep saying the same things over and over about God's alledged failure. I rather study with those that are reasonable. By denying everything I say, you are a real disapointment. "Because he want many people to worship him he dont think of the pain and suffering that will cause of his failed creation." For those that do not repent, there is some "REAL" pain and suffering coming. Do you also blame the police and judges for murderers and robbers? Pastor Glenn |

Confusing, You said, "In your last note you quote the verse that everything happened in the purpose of God now you said that killing of abel is not a purpose or plan of God. I am now more confuse than my "name"" No, Cain killing Abel was not God's plan, but everything eventually is turned into good for those that are called according to His purpose. Abel is living now and forever. "So do you think eating of that fruit is not a plan of God, so whose plan is that? what really the plan of God for them?" God's plan was for them to live forever without death or pain. "if they plan of God for them is different why is not happened is He not powerful enough to make it happen? what kind of Almighty is that." Now Confusing, if you have children I think you already know the answer to your own question. God gives us our own share of the blame. God does a perfect job, but we do not. If you try to judge God, He will much more judge you. Even if you do not have children, you probably have infuence on someone. God does not create evil. God created Lucifer good. Lucifer turned bad in pride. Pastor Glenn |

Megiddo, You asked: "Are we not all sinners? " No. "Do we ever fully cease to be sinners? " Yes. A better question is do we ever truly repent? Also, are we ever truly born again? For those that have repented and are truly born again, the old sinner part is dying and will soon no longer be part of us. This is war. Spirit verses Flesh. But, walk after the Spirit and you will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. "We are accepted into the Kingdom by grace, not by works. Do we deserve this? NO. Not one is good enough. " We are not only good enough; we are perfect through Christ Jesus' righteousness. Those that do not repent do not receive His righteousness. "Do I think Nineveh would have been saved without Jonah pointing out their sin? Only God knows this, but provided with the story God chose Jonah to do this...in the end the lesson becomes about Jonah...NOT Nineveh ..it's a story about trusting God's intentions. " No, it is not a story about trusting God's intentions. It is a story about repentance. Jesus spoke of the men of Nineveh rising in court on Judgment Day against this wicked generation, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah. "Jonah's main issue is that God forgave them after all they had put Jonah through." No, Jonah knew god would forgive them if they repented. "You bring up an interesting question: What it is mission of Christians? Can a homosexual call himself/herself a Christian? Absolutely! Why or how?” Can a homosexual that calls himself a Christian still call himself homosexual? Absolutely not! Why? 1 john 1 6If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. “Because being a Christian means that you have accepted God's gift of grace brought to us through Jesus...who died for our sins.” If you have not repented, then you have not accepted God’s gift. 173 | How does any Homosexual believe they are | Rom 1:19 | Pastor Glenn | 91427
Megiddo, You said: "I believe that while there may be biblical passages that condemn homosexuality, it is important to leave thier relationship with God between them and God. " Have you considered the fact that John the baptist was beheaded for speaking out against sin? Do you know the scriptures demand that we speak out and even ex-communicate the unrepentant one so that they may be ashamed? Do you think that the city of Ninevah would have repented and lived if Jonah had not preached to them? "How about I reframe the question "IS IT POSSIBLE FOR A HOMOSEXUAL TO DO THE WILL OF GOD EVEN IF LIVING A HOMOSEXUAL LIFESTYLE MAKES THEM A SINNER?"" No, it is not possible to truly do the will of God by staying in sin and refusing to repent. That reminds me that there was some church that recently voted a homosexual to the office of Bishop!? It also reminds me of the scriptures: Rev 2 20Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow[3] that woman[4] Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce[5] My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. 21And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent.[6] 22Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their[7] deeds. 23I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works. Pastor Glenn |

"Whether such Scripture twisting is done deliberately or in ignorance, it is still Scripture twisting." I respectfully disagree. I see "Twisting" as a purposeful act. I must admit that I was also confused about this verse until I prayed about it after reading posts from both yourself and Graceful. May God help us all to better understand His word, as well as, each other's point of view. Remember that demonstrated love is all about doing unto others as we would have them do unto us. So, it helps to try to understand why a person believes the way they do. I want others to really see why I believe what I believe, then they can better correct me at the heart of the matter. 175 | Release and Faith Question | Rev 22:18 | Pastor Glenn | 91364
Radioman, The article fails to deal with the key verse, Heb 11:3. It claims that: "'Copeland derives his definition of faith from Hebrews 11:1: "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" (KJV). ..." "God did frame the worlds and all things by faith and His Word. Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. " This teaching comes mostly by a misunderstanding of this verse. "Through faith 'we' understand...". By our faith we understand, rather than, "by God's faith He framed the worlds". Pastor Glenn |

Confusing, You asked: "Are you saying that Cain has no choice but to kill abel because it was the plan of God? " No, Cain had a choice. God tried to council Cain to do what was right, but the sins of jealousy, selfishness, and self pride ruled his heart. "if the killing of abel is a purpose then it seems that cain was born just to kill abel because it is the purpose of God? " No, Cain had a choice. God does not create evil. Gen 4 6So the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? 7If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it." "it is the nature of God to design someone life to kill? No. God sets life and death before us. He then tells us to choose life. But, many choose death instead. This is what happened with the "tree of life" and the "tree of the knowlede of good and evil" in the garden of Eden. Deuteronomy 30:15 "See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; Jeremiah 21:8 "Now you shall say to this people, "Thus says the LORD: "Behold, I set before you the way of life and the way of death. "About the saving of our sins through Jesus Christ, I think God did that because otherwise if there is no one save He will lose the battle against satan." God cannot lose, but we can. Accepting Jesus is our choice for life. Pastor Glenn |

177 | If Jesus did it, way can't I? | John 1:1 | Pastor Glenn | 91215
Tim, I wanted to add to what Radioman and yourself said, the focus on "Jehovah" is totally misplaced emphasis. The scriptures already have the emphasis on the name of the Son! You said: "The JW's try to make this practice into some kind of conspiracy." I have pointed out to Truthfinder that the great error is really the "spirit of anti-Christ", not "anti-Jehovah". But, he has not responded to this point. The bible is clear that there is no other name given among men by which we must be saved. John 3 18"He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Pastor Glenn |

There is nothing wrong with discussing things with others. However, godly council is best: 2 Cor 6 14Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? 15What harmony is there between Christ and Belial[2] ? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 16What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people."[3] 17"Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you."[4] 18"I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty." |
