141 | Church growth measured by numbers in pew | Matt 18:20 | Mommapbs | 25008
Our congregation has been told that we need to increase the size of our facility to accomodate the projected growth of the church. Since May, we have had an increase of 20 percent in our worship services and almost 50 percent growth in the children's ministry. Is church growth measured by numbers in the pews? Many people are coming to the church, but few are coming forward. Any comments?

145 | Service to others - service to God? | Matt 20:28 | Mommapbs | 73140
WHO was Jesus serving? Some Scriptures come to mind: Choose this day WHO you will serve (Josh 24:15). . . You cannot serve God and mammon (Mt 6:24). . . I have come to do your will, Oh God. (Heb 10:7-10) Is service to others the same as service to God? When is it different? Is it important for believers to be aware of this? |

In His love, mommapbs |

So all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years, and he died. Gen 9:29 Have we considered ALL of Noah's days when we anticipate the Lord's return? Take a look at what happened on the earth after the flood. Gen 10-11:9 Are we seeing any similarities? Comments? |

152 | Keep the Passover vs Eat | Matt 26:18 | Mommapbs | 110474
What is the difference between Jesus' desire to "keep the Passover" and the offer of the disciples in verse 17 to prepare for Him "to eat the Passover?" (Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus and asked, "Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?")
153 | You have said it yourself? | Matt 26:25 | Mommapbs | 110526
What did Jesus mean by, "You have said it yourself?" Judas is "hiding" the intent of his heart. Did he know Who he was hiding from? Who did he fool? Do we do the same when we are confronted with Truth? Does this relate to Romans 10:8 "THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART"-? |

154 | Judas -a question or making a statement? | Matt 26:25 | Mommapbs | 225780

155 | Please clarify your statement | Matt 26:29 | Mommapbs | 34691
Greeting Raven! You wrote "I also considered myself a good person with good morals who believed in God and in Jesus Christ as my savior. But I was not a Christian, and I knew it. But as of January 23, 2000 I obeyed they gospel and came in contact with the blood of Christ through baptism and became a Christian " How does one obey the Gospel and come in contact with the blood of Christ through baptism? Please clarify this. Blessings in Jesus, Mommapbs |

157 | Questions for reflection and comment | Matt 26:45 | Mommapbs | 110706
Why does Jesus draw attention to "sleeping and resting?" I'm wondering if this verse can be linked with His request in verse 41 where He tells them to keep watching and praying. How does watching compare to sleeping and praying compare to resting? What might we glean from this in our own relationship with the Lord? Indeed, the Lord is at hand today - His return is nearer than it was yesterday. Are we watching or asleep? Are we resting or "devoted to prayer (Acts 2:42)? Is the Lord perhaps giving US a "wake-up call?" (How might we "hear this" in the church?) |

158 | How do you "share the Gospel?" | Matt 28:18 | Mommapbs | 100014
Many believers think that their responsibility is to bring people to church so they can hear the Gospel. Is this what Jesus had in mind when He told us to make disciples? "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:19,20 "but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth." Acts 1:8 "but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;" 1 Peter 3:15 How do you "share the Gospel?" |

159 | A couple of questions | Matt 28:18 | Mommapbs | 100280
A couple of questions on your post Ken! You wrote: "Only the saved will hear . . . those who 'hunger and thirst after righteousness, they will be filled' with a 'saving Grace'. With those, when Jesus is explained, they accept the account of what He did. " Do they hunger and thirst first or do they have to be told that they are hungry and thirsty? Also, you wrote: "everyone is saved to begin with and don't realize Jesus did it." Please support this statement with Scripture. mommapbs |

160 | Scriptural support of your position? | Matt 28:18 | Mommapbs | 100347
Ken, a disclaimer PLEASE! At the end of YOUR last post to me, you signed MY name! In light of what you have written, much of which I disagree, I would ask for a reposted rely with YOUR name attached. Thank you. You wrote: "Suppose one lives a blameless life without the written law to guide him or the knowledge of Jesus who saves him, what do you think his punishment should be?" First of all, NO ONE except Jesus CHrist has lived a blameless life. Again, God's Word tells us ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23) - no one can measure up to God's Holy standard. What part of ALL do you not understand. Romans 1 tells us plainly that men are without excuse. I understand your angst over this with regard to the untold millions who have never heard the Gospel, but who are YOU to argue with what God has declared? You wrote: "many have died [maybe billions] without ever hearing His name who lived blameless lives, what about them?" Again ALL have sinned - no one but Jesus Christ is blameless; men are without excuse. You wrote: "Where there is no law sin [the penalty for being born in it] is NOT imputed." (Where does Scripture say this is so? pbs) You wrote: "if they never hear the word....And if when they do, accept it WE are to make disciples of them....not gettum saved... the assumption should be that they already are so" Already saved? WHERE do you find this in God's Word? Maybe I am reading a faulty translation but I am stuggling to find it anywhere! No, you are NOT clear on this. First you claim that there are those who are blameless and then you write that those who have never heard the Word are already saved. . . . Please support your beliefs with Scripture. In Christ, mommapbs |
