104 | Please leave this up for a day! | Jer 33:3 | Mommapbs | 146344
Greetings Brothers and Sisters in Christ: A week ago today, my son-in-law Kim was summoned into the presence of the Lord. He leaves behind a grieving family – our daughter Laura (30) and our grandson Garett (3) as well as us all. This was unexpected. He came home from work feeling ill on Friday and developed a fever overnight. Our daughter took him to the hospital Saturday morning and he died less than 24 hours later of sepsis (a massive blood infection that compromised his heart - Kim was 45). The cause is unknown and there remain many unanswered questions. But instead of asking why, we are choosing to focus on Who. I have no idea how anyone can endure a tragedy like this without faith in God; but through this experience I’ve learned that no one can survive apart from the faithfulness of God! God has prepared the way and we are walking in it – not alone, but with Him. Kim came into our lives much like March does, “like a lion.” He was rebellious, fiercely independent, prideful and arrogant at times (so much like each of us!). Yet the previous week, God captured his attention and He drew Him unto Himself. What a comforting blessing this was for our daughter who observed God’s work in Kim’s heart in the days before he died. Our daughter sat by Kim’s side and read from the Psalms. There was a noticeable change in the monitors as she read. After reading the 23rd Psalm, our daughter released her beloved husband and told him that if he saw Jesus, he should go with Him. And Jesus came to that bedside and called Kim to come home. Kim went out just like the month in which he died, “like a lamb” following the Good Shepherd. At the funeral, the Pastor who had married them told us all a wonderful quote by Spurgeon that goes something like this: “God is too loving to be unkind; God is too wise to make a mistake; and if you can’t see what His hand is doing, trust His heart.” We have been doing just that. In fact, we have been compiling a “blessing book.” We have listed all the blessings that God has bestowed upon our family during this time. What a wonderful opportunity we have had to praise and thank God in obedience to His Word; and we have been blessed with such peace in the process! I have learned the truth of God’s promise in Jeremiah 33:3 – to call upon Him and He will answer and tell us great and mighty things which we do not know. God hasn’t told us 'why' He chose to take Kim from us but He has revealed something much better- Himself, and isn’t this just what God is: great and mighty?!!! For my Catholic brothers and sisters, the readings for the Mass of March 13 were very poignant. Our daughter chose to share part of this at Kim's funeral. “You are Mine” I will come to you in silence, I will lift you from all fear. You will hear My voice, I claim you as My choice Be still and know that I am here, Do not be afraid, I am with you. I have called you each by name. Come and follow Me, I will bring you home, I love you and you are Mine. It is my hope that this will encourage you to trust God's love and faithfulness toward you in whatever path He is leading you! 105 | Comments wanted on Jer 34:13-20 | Jer 34:18 | Mommapbs | 87089
As I read this passage vv 18-20, and compare it to the reference given (AMP Gen 15:9,10 17), in Gen it is the LORD who is confirming His covenant and yet in Jer, the AMP indicates that walking between the cut calf was Israel's pledge to the Lord. Are there any other instances in Scripture where something like this took place? Something about this situation - a human attempt to re-create a God-thing - bothers me. (Do we do this?) Reading Jer 34:13-16 I see a parallel between Israel's release from the bondage of Egypt - the Lord had them walk between the parted waters of the Red Sea! Yet notice the serious result of Israel's failure to keep their commitment to the Lord in veerse 16 - the Lord declared: "you turned and profaned My name." Comments? |

108 | Who was Tammuz? | Ezek 8:14 | Mommapbs | 39292
Greetings on this Lord's Day. I think it would be valuable to identify this "god" Tammuz, especially at this Holy season! How about some of you doing a search on this Babylonian god and reporting back to the forum? It is interesting to observe that this mourning for Tammuz was described as an abomination. How might we compare and/or apply this "mourning for Tammuz" to our lives today? |

109 | What does this mean? | Ezek 8:17 | Mommapbs | 39294
What does this mean? "they are putting the twig to their nose." I see from the Amplified version that it is a superstitious practice. Where does this come from?

112 | Through one gate and out another? | Ezek 46:9 | Mommapbs | 94976

113 | Sprinkles not the outpouring? | Joel 2:28 | Mommapbs | 29571
After considering the preceding verses in Joel, I'm wondering if this final outpouring of the Spirit will be AFTER the rapture of the church? (I'm a pre-wrath believer!)Could it be that we are only experiencing some "sprinkles" during these "last days?"
114 | Did God give grace to Nineveh? | Jon 4:11 | Mommapbs | 228160
When the people of Nineveh repented, God spared the city. This verse says He had compassion. Where does grace fit here or does it? Did God forgive Nineveh for their wickedness?

Who is "she who is in labor?"
116 | Who or what does He give up? | Mic 5:3 | Mommapbs | 98529
Micah 5:3 "But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Too little to be among the clans of Judah, From you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, From the days of eternity." Since verse 3 begins with "Therefore," I ask what is it therefore? It has been my understanding that this verse is prophetic indicating the birthplace of Jesus. So, I'm struggling a bit with the concept that verse 3 refers to the Babylonian captivity as previously suggested. What does He give up? Could this be a reference to Phi 2:6-7? OR . . . I'm also wondering if this refers to Israel being given up until the time of the Gentiles is completed and then they will be returned.("and they will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into all the nations; and Jerusalem will be trampled under foot by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled." Luke 221:24) Any comments? |
