1221 | Jesus , the Messiah - Yeshua ha Mashiach | Bible general Archive 3 | skccab | 186398
Hi all Here's something I've wondered about. Let one of you kind folks wonder on it now. We are told in Gen. and throughout the rest of the Word that God will bless those that bless Israel, and in the NT we're told to pray for Israel, that nations will be judged according to how they have treated the apple of God's eye. Jesus was pure Jewish, and a Rabbi. Shouldn't we, in the very least, refer to our Lord by His given Jewish name, Yeshua? (Another question) - Was He not originally referred to as Yeshua when the gospels and letters were first written? If He wasn't I'd like to know why. This just seems to be a matter of respect. Why was it ever chenged to the Americanized name Jesus? in Love Cheri |

Finder, I'll respect that but I'll leave the offer open. And the rest of your note has me baffled. I'm not sure what you're trying to say. 1John 2:12-14 John speaks to little children, sons (young men) and fathers. Maybe you're trying to delve into things meant for fathers before you've gained revelation for sons....? We are spiritual beings but our growning is still going to mimic that of growing in the natural. We can't run if we haven't learned to walk, and we can't stomach the meat of the Word if we haven't been weaned off the milk. Blessings Cheri |

Hi Finder, I don't understand your reaction of 'Yesterday is too late' (although in general that's absolutely true). Please explain? Also, why is faith in God such a struggle for you? You exercise faith on a daily basis on things and people far less proved and reliable. I'll bet if your weatherman tells you it's gonna be 30 or below tomorrow that you won't plan on wearing your shorts and sandles - yet how many times a month is he wrong? And he's somebody who doesn't give a flying leap about you personally. Yet you trust him. God has been proved true over and over again, and He's much more reliable. And He cares for you like no one else ever has or will. Also, I didn't use the word "flare," I said "fare." Makes a difference in the rendering of the question. Blessings Cheri |

Asher, Are you wanting to know where in the Bible God spoke audibly to the people of Israel? If so, one of those times can be found in Exodus 19:20 thru 20:20. Blessings Cheri |

1231 | Destiny of created beings | Is 14:12 | skccab | 186339
Hello Finder Thank God we don't need to be knocked on the side of the head - we have His blessed written Word; it would indeed be nice but we don't need flashing lights and voices from heaven (which last but only a moment) - we have the eternal blessed Word of God; we don't need a visit to the third heaven - we have the written Word of God (Paul did not, at least not all of it). On the other side of the coin, Paul was beaten and left for dead, shipwrecked, and thrown into prison numerous times, he had to be sneaked out of town or murdered - his life was full of perils - how would you have fared? Even with lights and voices and visits, would your works have the substance to stand the test of fire as his did? And don't put Paul on a false pedestal. He had his moments of doubt, of wondering - you can hear it in his letters - but you can also hear the renewing of his mind in his letters - the part that says "I believe," "I am convinced," and "I am fully persuaded." I am very happy God chose him, and not someone from 2007 to do that job. Quite frankly, I honestly don't think people today have that kind of muster. The first time someone in authority told us to quit speaking that Name or be imprisoned we'd be on our cell phones to our lawyer to find a way around the law, instead of just doing what God told us to do. Just as an afterthought: someone once said: "Some things are commanded because they are right, other things are right because they are commanded." And faith, sanctification, work, and ministry are commanded. Blessings Cheri PS I just realized I didn't address your actual question, so let me put it in the venacular, with a picture anyone can identify with. You are a parent, you tell your child that next month you are going to take him to Disney World. Child has a choice of two reactions: cross arms over chest and say "yeah, I'll believe it when I see the tickets and the castle" or "oh boy, oh boy, wow! Thanks. I gotta tell somebody!" Which is pleasing to a parent? I know that oversimplifies the subject but it does simply boil down to Heb. 11:1 "calling those things which be not as though they were." I mentioned the written Word at the beginning of this note and that Word has been fulfilled time and again. It's God's way of telling His children He's gonna take us to a much better place than Disney World. What is your reaction to that promise? |

1233 | can a believer lose his salvation? | 1 Cor 5:5 | skccab | 186301
Greetings, I don't believe you can lose your salvation if you're a believer. The only place that gives a sin unto death is not something that would be committed by a believer. Mat 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. Mat 12:32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come. I believe you can lose your reward. As Paul stated: 1Co 5:5 To deliver such a one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. If you're a true born-again believer, you don't need to worry about it anyway - you're covered with the blood of Jesus. Blessings Cheri |

Hi Finder, Hope this will help you out a bit - one of our brothers suggested reading Clark and many others. I can identify with your lack of money for purchasing books. If you follow the link for more Biblical sources on this home page, you will be taken to a site called e-Sword. When I found it last week, I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. It's wonderful and mostly free and contains much information. You might even find some of those answers you're looking for (or in the very least, a direction toward those answers needed). But also keep in mind that some things are as they are because they are. They were deemed that way by our Father God. It will all be made clear in That Great Day, but not before. After all, if we had all the answers, where would the need of faith come in? Blessings Cheri |

1237 | Judgment - clarification requested | Is 14:12 | skccab | 186291
John, I've read this thread, and found your mention of the Judgmemt before Christ. Forgive me if my question is inappropriate, or in a wrong place - but my understanding of that event has always been that it's more a moment of reward or lack thereof. That the "judgment" took place at the Cross when we accepted Jesus as Savior, and we continue in self-judgment and when we find ourselves in need of correction, by 1Jn 1:9, we take care of the matter - so it is therefore no longer judgment but reward (or lack of reward). Rom 2:6 For God will reward each of us according to what we have done. Perhaps I've misunderstood you, so let me state that I'm referring to the catching away of the saints of God (the Rapture as some call it), not the Great Day of the Lord, where the unrighteous dead and living will be judged. Have I gotten it all backwards? Eager to learn. Blessings Cheri |

1240 | how do i handle fear | NT general Archive 1 | skccab | 186216
Hi Fleminghrs I know this may sound overly simplified, and it isn't, not really. The Word says that we are to change our way of thinking: Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. In our walk in this world, life is full of fears - but John says 1Jn 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. 1Jn 5:5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? And Paul wrote: Rom 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. and 2Ti 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. And my very favorite when fear tries to seep into my thinking and get my eyes on the world and off my Lord: 1Jn 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Hope these Scriptures help you Blessings Cheri |
