1201 | Days between the cross and empty tomb | Luke 23:43 | skccab | 186504
Hi Rholliday on another thread we've been discussing this somewhat. Luke 23:43 says Jesus told the thief that he would be with Him that day in Paradise. My take on that is Jesus had to go to Paradise Himself for the thief to be with Him there. And I believe he told those righteous saints that He was the Messiah they had hoped for. Matt. 27:52-53 says the graves of the righteous were opened and they appeard to many. My take on that one is those are the ones to whom Jesus preached and accepted what He said. I believe they went at that time to dwell in heaven after Jesus presented Himself to the Father. Any thoughts from others? Blessings Cheri |

1202 | jesus spoke to dead | 1 Pet 1:1 | skccab | 186493
Guys, The question was did Jesus go to the dead and preach the good news to them during the 3days between crucifixion and resurrection. I say He most likely did. See Luke 23:43. cheri |

1203 | jesus spoke to dead | 1 Pet 1:1 | skccab | 186492
I'm not basing my note on 1 Peter, that is definitely about Noah. But Luke 23:43 very clearly shows that Jesus at least went to Paradise. How could the thief be with Him on that day in Paradise if He didn't go there? And again, it indeed does not say (in words) that He preached to the souls there, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Isaiah, Daniel, etc., all those who looked forward to the Cross. But it would not surprise me a bit to learn that He did preach the gospel to them, or at least told them their time of waiting for their Kinsman Redeemer was fulfilled in Him. We will learn about it all in heaven at His blessed feet one day. in love Cheri |

Hi there Luke 23:43 Jesus tells the thief that today he'd be with Jesus in paradise. Don't you think Jesus preached the good news to those there waiting? OR at least said "I am He"? Just a thought. Blessings Cheri |

1205 | What are the "evidences for salvation"? | Matt 7:21 | skccab | 186475

1206 | What is required to pass the test? | Matt 7:21 | skccab | 186469
Yes, brother, It just stands to reasons when we open ourselves to Jesus for salvation, we also open ourselves to the working of the Holy Ghost, and changes that can be seen occur (as well as what cannot be seen). What was second-nature before Jesus become foreign to us as we (often unbeknownst to us) take on a new nature. Blessings Cheri |

1207 | Can one be deceived that he is saved? | Matt 7:21 | skccab | 186466
Hi all, I'm gonna jump in here now with a very down to earth example. When I was born again I found over a very short period of time, without any effort on my part, that things that were "worldly" and an everyday part of my life - extremely vulgar language, screaming and hollering at other drivers on the road, pure impatience at checkouts, etc - just seemed to vanish. Poof!! It was other people around me that noticed it first, I was totally unaware of it. (Those were just a few examples, there were many other things, as well.) Could things like that be "evidences" that a change/renewal has taken place. Blessings Cheri |

Most excellent Steve, Every day is Christmas to someone - Jesus born in their heart. Every day is Resurrection Day as well - Jesus rising up in the dead in sin to rule and reign in their hearts and minds forever. Amen!! And in that, we that are alive in Christ, praise, worship and rejoice every day. Cheri |

1213 | Jesus , the Messiah - Yeshua ha Mashiach | Bible general Archive 3 | skccab | 186423
Hi brother mine That may be as it is but it's only for a moment. Our Father is One of infinite hope and patience, and He has never given up on His beloved Israel. And it looks like we may have come full circle. I'm not trying to be Jewish; but I rejoice that He saw fit to graft me and mine into natural Israel. So I'm wanting to learn about the roots of that tree. Cheri |

Hi John I'm kinda there too, i.e., if Jesus caught the church away tonight (wouldn't that be marvelous??) those believing Jews would go too. I'm speaking of those who are not yet born-again, but are, with everything that is in them, still looking to be godly and hoping for Yeshua ha Mashiach. Just as down through the ages God has always had an army of born-again, Spirit-led people, He also has always had a remnant of godly Israel. Did that explain my thinking? I think we're pretty much on the same page. It's just that I don't think that becoming a Christian the Jew has given up his heritage of being natural born Israel. Instead we as non-Jewish become grafted in, spiritual Israel (this is how I understand Romans chapters 9-11). Am I all wrong here? I'm not arguing the point, there's just a lot of questions. Like, Doc, you said you were Jewish born. You probably don't observe the Jewish traditions now but do you not have a love for Israel, the land your Father promised to your people, and are they not still your people, even though they, as a whole may be blinded to the truth right now? Do you not pray for them first of all? (I do because Jesus told us too, but you should for that reason AND because they are your people.) in Love Cheri |

1216 | Jesus , the Messiah - Yeshua ha Mashiach | Bible general Archive 3 | skccab | 186415
Doc, Once more, don't let me be misunderstood, I am fully aware it is all of grace and not of works of any kind. I'm not trying to become part Jewish/part Christian or any such thing. It's simply that we have been "grafted into the olive tree" and have become spiritual Israel, if you will. I'm just interesed, is all. Blessings Cheri |

Hi brother John, Yes, much of what you said is true. Let me tell you my take on it, if you will (I do this knowing I could be quite wrong, but I don't think that I'm totally wrong.): God did judicially blind the Jews as to the identiy of Messiah (because of disobedience and their rejection of Him and I believe so that ALL could come to know Him - this was something the Hebrews were supposed to do, spread the news about Yahweh, but they failed). But not all of Israel has been cut off, there has always been a faithful remnant, even today there is a remnant. I believe that remnant is being prepared right now to fulfill the 144,000 witnesses. God has NOT cast away His people, they are ever His beloved. There's a lot more but I'll stop at this point and look for your response. Blessings Cheri |

Doc, Thank you for your explanation. I love the Jewish people and am so grateful for what we Gentile Christians have because of Israel. I just feel if I'm going to spend eternity in the midst of the apple of God's eye (the people and the land), it would behoove me to learn more about you, as a people, a language, a land, a heritage. Please correct me when I err, I'm still just in Jewish pre-school. Blessings, Cheri |

Hi John, Thank you. I had translation and transliteration explained to me earlier, so I understand your answer. I guess, in a way, I was kinda asking persmission to use His name Yeshua here, not wanting to cause discension. I'm not Jewish by birth, only by adoption, spiritually, and in my heart. 1220 | Jesus , the Messiah - Yeshua ha Mashiach | Not Specified | skccab | 186397
Hi all Here's something I've wondered about. Let one of you kind folks wonder on it now. We are told in Gen. and throughout the rest of the Word that God will bless those that bless Israel, and in the NT we're told to pray for Israel, that nations will be judged according to how they have treated the apple of God's eye. Jesus was pure Jewish, and a Rabbi. Shouldn't we, in the very least, refer to our Lord by His given Jewish name, Yeshua? (Another question) - Was He not originally referred to as Yeshua when the gospels and letters were first written? If He wasn't I'd like to know why. This just seems to be a matter of respect. Why was it ever chenged to the Americanized name Jesus? in Love Cheri |
