122 | who was exodus written to? | OT general | skccab | 212088
Hannah, Something that I left unsaid and shouldn't have - Deuteronomy is kind of a shortened repeat of the books of Exodus, Leviticus and Numbers, or at least a repeat of the commands (civil, moral and religious laws) found in those other books. Cheri |

123 | who was exodus written to? | OT general | skccab | 212086
Shalom Hannah, I think most people would think it was written to the people who actually made the exodus from Egypt (but they were not allowed into the promised land due to disobedience) so - Deut. 9:6 says, "And these words, which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 - "You shall teach them to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up." and Deut. 9:10 says "So it shall be, when the Lord your God brings you into the land of which He swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give you large and beautiful cities which you did not build..." There's more to that passage, but the gist is, it was written to the children of the people of the exodus so they could teach their children and those children would teach their children, etc., etc. (Deut. took place just on the other side of the Jordan and the people were getting ready to cross over into the promised land of Canaan.) Hope this helps Cheri |

124 | Am I ignorant | 1 Cor 12:1 | skccab | 212084
Hi Steve, This will probably get zapped, but you asked, so here goes: This has actually happened - Jack marries Jill (they even have a child) but Jack decides he was supposed to be a Jill so after 2plus years of psychoanylisis and surgeries, child now has mom Jill number 1 and mom Jill number 2. Jill2 has not started running after other Jacks, neither has the real Jill. We know that the Bible in essence says this is a no-no (for Jill2, err Jack) but the law doesn't so it's now a done deal leaving the real Jill out on a limb that the Bible does not seem to address because so far there has been no sexual immorality or adultery involved, just a sex-change which is civilally legal nowadays. Where does this leave the real wife? (And of course, it could be the other way around as well, leaving the original husband in a quandry.) And there are other similar circumstances that come to mind - but let's stick with this one for now. I am definitely PRO-BIBLE, don't get me wrong, but there are things that it just doesn't seem to address. Cheri |

126 | Am I ignorant | 1 Cor 12:1 | skccab | 212053
Shalom Val, Sorry, it's been so long. Had prayers to go to, then I locked the keys to my car in my car. Lovely night!!!! hahaha I didn't mean to cut you off short - I figured you knew what I was talking about. Some people think the Law is abolished, some don't think that - that's what I meant and just didn't want to get into a debate with others (didn't think that I would with you or some of the others who know me). I try very hard to keep my fellowship with you wonderful folks as debate free as possible, even tho I'm kinda out in left field - it's still the same playing field :o). Ah, it's already the Lord's day for you, have a blessed one!! Cheri |

127 | Am I ignorant | 1 Cor 12:1 | skccab | 212042
Shalom Steve, I certainly believe that the prophets and apostles of old have a place (of esteem) right here today and tomorrow - BUT I also see great need for such today, as well. There are many circumstances today that don't seem to be addressed in the Bible as fully (or at all) and they need to be. Do I actually see them here and now? That's questionable. I think I would have to be honest and say NO, I don't see either of those two active. But I also don't see God splitting up a working "team" that He ordained to work as a complete whole to edify His Body. Again, just my 2cents worth Cheri P.S. And I know you can buy a whole bunch of nothing with 2cents. lol |

Val, My email is in my profile. I have absolutely no desire to get into a debate with anyone (and a debate would ensue). If you wish to email me I will be more than happy to discuss this further with you, but not here on the Forum. Cheri |

Thank you Newwine, One of the best posts of the thread thus far. It goes right along with the other things that folks seem to think are done away with (that I believe scripture speaks quite differently about those things). I, personally, think that that "till" takes us right up to the moment of the "rapture." Just my 2cents thrown in :o) Cheri |

Sweet Hank, I knew that in my heart concerning all the active regulars, too many to name, but we knnow who they are. I love all you guys (and girls) - have a wonderful weekend. Cheri |

Shalom Shelly, I asked these people because they are friends and family and in the past 2 1/2 years sharing prayer and praise has been a part of our study here. Prayer and praise is a very big part of Bible study. Without it all you get is head knowledge which is useless. If I offended you, I sure am sorry for that. Cheri |

132 | what scriptures discribes a great Dad ? | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 212021
Shalom mws777 "Happy is the man who fears the Lord, who delights greatly in His commandments. His seed shall be mighty upon the earth, the generation of the upright shall be blessed . Wealth and riches shall be in his house, and his righteousness shall endure forever. Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness; he is gracious, and full of compassion, and just. A man is good who lends with grace, he conducts his affairs justly. Surely he shall never be moved; the righteous will be eternally remembered. He shall not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord. His heart is established, he shall not be afraid when he gazes upon his enemies. He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures for ever, his horn shall be exalted with honor. Psa. 112:1-9 This is a good one :o) Cheri |

133 | Prayer Request from My Family | Not Specified | skccab | 212018
Shalom y'all, Please leave this up for a little while. My dear friend, Stanley, a diabetic for the last 37 years is really struggling with it now. Kidneys failing, 3 heart attacks this year, neuropathy, etc, but mostly it's a problem with his body absorbing (or not absorbing, I can't remember) his insulin from his pump 3 days each week. Everytime he changes sides for his pump every 3 days, if it goes to his left side, we pretty much know he's going to have problems because either his tissues are absorbing the insulin and the medicine is not able to do what it's supposed to do, or else it isn't absorbing like it's supposed to (I'm sorry, right now I can't think straight which way it is). But, anyway there you have it, for about 3 days each week he's pretty much going without much insulin at all (he's type 1 - dead pancreas). I sent him, about an hour ago by ambulance to the ER with blood sugars almost at 500. I'm waiting for the doctor to call me now. (Stanley doesn't like me to go there with him, so I stay by the phone.) Please pray that somehow the doctors can figure out about the absorbtion problem with his insulin. Thank you very much for keeping him in your prayers, he's a dear brother. Cheri |

136 | Murder vs Killing | Ex 20:1 | skccab | 212010
Dear Kamschoolgrad, You've got it pretty right on. I, too, have many disconcerting questions about things that we are supposed to do (or not do) but for one reason or another we don't or cannot. These, I just have to put down to Deut. 29:29 and figure we'll get the answers we need soon enough. Doesn't that sound like a horrible cop-out? But after much prayer and advice-seeking from pastors and rabbis that's the best I can do. And the best I can say is - observe to do what God commands in His glorious Torah to the best of your ability (and of what the law of your land allows you to observe and do) - and that is ALL that you can do with a good conscience. And, remember, that thru Messiah's finished work on the cross, we are not BOUND to or UNDER the curse of not observing all the Law, but we are FREE to receive the blessings of observing the commands of the Lord. Hallelujah!! Praise God for His Mercies endure forever. Amen? Amen!!! Sorry I couldn't be of MORE help. Cheri |

137 | Is NASB better than other translations? | 2 Tim 2:15 | skccab | 212009
Shalom MJH Actually, no, it's not like e-sword (which I love and thank God for Rick Meyers), it's quite different. I guess they just survived. It's like cell phones. I still survive quite nicely without one - I'm totally cell ignorant!! (Mainly, it's I cannot see to read all the little buttons on cells to work them - in my defense of ignorance there hahaha) Cheri |

Shalom MJH, have you tried this link: http://www.scripture4all.org/ It gives the Hebrew and Greek text as well as a choice of several different English translations and the Heb/Gr part is connected to Strongs. It is free software. (I haven't figured out how to completely use all of its features yet, pooh.) The only complaint that I have with it, is that the Hebrew transliteration is not the best that I've seen (and even there I'm no expert, no where near lol), it's a bit difficult to make out sometimes. I don't know, but maybe this site might help you with the book of Hebrews? Cheri |

Good afternoon Yellowrosegale, I, too, have horrible eyesight, but caps are extremely difficult for readers to look at. If you click on "view" on your browser menu bar, there is a choice (called "text size") to increase the font size that you alone can view; and then you can take the caps lock off on your keyboard. (You can also try by holding down the CTRL key and the "plus-equal" key.) Try that and see if it helps - it helps me :o) Cheri |
