Bible Note: Hi Steve, This will probably get zapped, but you asked, so here goes: This has actually happened - Jack marries Jill (they even have a child) but Jack decides he was supposed to be a Jill so after 2plus years of psychoanylisis and surgeries, child now has mom Jill number 1 and mom Jill number 2. Jill2 has not started running after other Jacks, neither has the real Jill. We know that the Bible in essence says this is a no-no (for Jill2, err Jack) but the law doesn't so it's now a done deal leaving the real Jill out on a limb that the Bible does not seem to address because so far there has been no sexual immorality or adultery involved, just a sex-change which is civilally legal nowadays. Where does this leave the real wife? (And of course, it could be the other way around as well, leaving the original husband in a quandry.) And there are other similar circumstances that come to mind - but let's stick with this one for now. I am definitely PRO-BIBLE, don't get me wrong, but there are things that it just doesn't seem to address. Cheri |
