124 | Hank, Do you believe he's with God? | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 83256
"The righteous man perishes, and no man takes it to heart; And devout men are taken away, while no one understands. For the righteous man is taken away from evil," Is 57:1 imf, this Scripture suggests (to me) that sometimes death is a means of God's Divine protection to keep His children from evil. mommapbs |

125 | what is the purpose of the second census | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 83334
Greetings urong: This is a duplicate post. Welcome to the Forum. What you have asked sounds a bit like "homework" questions to me. Now I could be wrong (!) and so if you are genuinely wanting answers, your post will remain on the unanswered board. For starters, you could use the "Quick Search" feature and do your own "leg work." Hint: Input these words - census purpose Second hint: read Numbers 14 Third hint: it's spelled "benefit" - which in this instance means to learn or profit, to gain insight from . . . Why is leadership important? Is the succession always good? Can you think of an instance where it was not? What was the result? Now, decide WHY was Joshua chosen. Hope this helps! mommapbs |

130 | Repentance and Hearing God | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 84552
Greetings and welcome to the Forum. You have asked good questions! Read John 16:13 The Holy Spirit is the instrument that reveals God's Truth as you read and study His Word. His presence in your life is a sure thing. Eph 1:13, Gal 4:6 et al. Do you believe it? Then take God at His Word and accept this as fact. Don't depend upon your feelings. See also 1 John 5:10-15 God, your (Abba)Father hears the cry of your heart before you even call! Again, do you believe that God hears you? His Word says that He does. Ps 4:3 The Holy Spirit is our connection with God. But the way that God responds to us as believers is up to Him. Henry Blackaby states in "Experiencing God" (which I recommend to you!) that we hear God through His Word, through prayer, through circumstances and through the church, meaning fellow believers. These will be in agreement - God's Word is the absolute source of Truth - base what you believe on facts not feelings. Confession of sin is agreeing with God about an area of your life that is not pleasing to Him. God will reveal this to you as you seek to know and live for Him. When sin in your life is exposed, agree with God about it (Confession) then choose to turn from it (repentence). Ask God to be at work in you to accomplish this - repentence is not lip service; it is active not passive. Believe the facts (1 John 1:9) and then depend upon God to bring the feelings of relief that repentence brings - I KNOW that I am forgiven and I KNOW that God is at work in me to accomplish HIS purposes in my life! Lord, I want to be YOUR instrument - make me fit for Your use!(The purification process takes time and "temperature" - things do get a bit hot in the "Refiner's Fire! But this is always for our benefit,or discipline; it is never punishment!) From MacArthur NKJV Study Bible: "Far more than a mere change of mind or remorse, repentance involves a turning from sin to God (cf. 1 Thess. 1:9), which results in righteous living. Genuine repentance is a work of God in the human heart (Acts 11:18)." Bottom line is this: Get into the Word and get into fellowship with a mature believer who will agree to hold you accountable as you grow in your walk with God. Don't allow the experience of others to suggest that what you experience in your relationship with the Lord is insufficient or lacking. In Christ, you have the riches of His grace - He has lavished His love upon you - thank Him, praise Him and pursue Him . . . He will be found by you! I hope this helps! God bless you as you grow in Him! mommapbs |

133 | No, the dead are still DEAD...not alive! | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 85443
You asked: "Do Good People Really Go to Heaven When They Die?" NO, only those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior from the penalty of sin go to be with the Lord when their physical bodies die. Those who have been declared righteous (like the old testament saints you mentioned) by God also expected God to keep His promise of eternal life with Him.(Inherent in this was the promise of a Savior - though they didn't understand HOW God was going to accomplish His plan for their redemption, they still trusted Him to do it - we could take a lesson here too!) When we don't fully understand something, perhaps this is God's way of encouraging us to trust Him . . . John 14:1-6 My belief is that when Christ ascended, He emptied Paradise or Abraham's bosom, this was the place of the dead where those who were declared righteous by God (prior to death and resurrection of Jesus) waited.(Eph 4:8)See also the story of the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16:19-31 According to God's Word,(2 Cor 5:1-8) when we are absent from the body we are present with the Lord. How or where - who really cares? All that matters is that He is with me and I will be with Him. Lastly, what the righteous patriarchs and those who have been declared righteous IN CHRIST have been promised is new life with Him FOREVER in NEW BODIES. However, this will not be realized until Christ returns for His Bride, the Church. We will all be changed, in a twinking of an eye - the dead in Christ first and those who remain . . . 1 Cor 15:50-53 Respectfully, mommapbs PS: You claimed, "The Bible reveals some astounding and little-understood truths about heaven, the mystery of life beyond the grave and God’s great plan and purpose for us." What are these "little understoond truths"? What is God's great plan and purpose for us? |

137 | "goodnewsminister" where is your spirit | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 85817
Greetings Searcher - remember our dialog of a few days ago? the question the Lord asked of Jeremiah (and us) was "what will you do in the end?" I think that we have done all that we could . . . let's let the Lord sort it all out! I thought Radioman's post on "What is Christianity?" was an excellent observation to consider as we encounter those with whom our "doctrine" differs. Saw a good bumper sticker yesterday: Don't believe everything you think" Blessings, mommapbs |

Greetings! This has been posted for quite a while now . . . Please repost your QUESTION as it is well worth considering! "There are a number of biblical principles, as well as examples, indicating that a woman should not be an Overseer. Both Scripture and Tradition tends to point this out, so why isn't it being practiced today??" mommapbs PS: For what it's worth, my answer springs from Genesis 3:16 |

139 | Summary of Jousha to Ester | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 86506
Greetings nexgen - your posts sound more like homework assignments . . . Walk Through the Bible teaches Bible themes and you can find Bible themes in books at Amazon as well. Maybe someone on the Forum has a Bible dictionary of Bible themes they would be willing to share with you, but I do not. My feeling is that as you read God's Word, HE will reveal the "theme" that He wants you to know about HIMSELF! mommapbs PS: This is the way Josuha is spelled and an ester is an aromatic chemical substance, the book of the Bible is Esther. |
