201 | Why did GOD make woman from the mans rib | Gen 2:23 | Mommapbs | 138788
Greetings! God doesn't tell us why He did this, but I suspect from this verse, God may have wanted man to recognize that the woman was part of him. Because she was formed from Adam's rib, woman is his missing part. Woman "completes" the man. Think also about the command of God in the next verse: "For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh." IMO, "one flesh" is quite significant. What might this suggest to us about God's view of homosexuality? Blessings, mommapbs |

202 | Marriage vows | Gen 2:24 | Mommapbs | 135768
Greetings Boni - so everyone's a "Christian" and yet they are tearing you apart? Believers are called to UNITY! And imo, the marriage UNION is to be honored as a refelction of our union with Christ! If you know what God's Word says - then OBEY it. Honor God in your obedience to HIM first. Of course you love your parents, but God's word tells those who are joined in marriage to LEAVE and CLEAVE. This is also a mirror of what He desires in our relationship with Him - we are to leave all other gods and CLEAVE to Him only. IMO, is it possible that your parents have become an "other god." Think about this. Do get some counselling from your Pastor or another Christian elder who knows your situation. I'm saying this with Christian love, Boni, this site is for Bible Study, not solutions to personal problems - we are not trained counsellors here! I've shared what God's Word says, but as you said, you know that . . . so what's stopping you from applying it to your life? The answer to that will probably solve everything else! Blessings, mommapbs |

204 | How did Enoch walk with God? | Gen 5:22 | Mommapbs | 84546
Welcome to the Forum! See Amos 3:3 - What do you think? All day long God extends His heart to us, yet we have a choice to respond to that invitation of love. . . moment by moment. Enoch chose to draw near to God, to allow his heart to beat in time with the Lord God. His desire was to be with God, and God gave him the desire of His heart! See Psalm 37:4 and Gen 5:24 mommapbs |

207 | Gen 6:4, Who are the, "sons of man." | Gen 6:4 | Mommapbs | 38013
Greetings msbblc! Interesting questions. I too have understood that these "sons of God" are part of Lucifer's rebellious horde. Beginning in verse 1 we first learn about these "sons of God." Sons of God and daughters of men - an unholy alliance. "They took wives for themselves, whomever they chose." verse 5 reads: "Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually." Obviously, these liaisons were wicked in God's sight. What is evil? Where is its root? Choosing self-rule instead of God's rule. Just as Satan deceived Eve, couldn't these sons of God continue to deceive the sons and daughters of men? I think there is much more to be gleaned from this passage than meets the eye. Satan always tries to copy, but his copies are corrupt! What might the objective have been of these unholy liaisons? A hint is in the reference to "men of renown"! Satan always seeks to rob God of our worship. Obviously, he was succeeding at this point in time! And God dealt with this! After the flood we know that there were 8 people saved in all. So, were these "sons of men were present afterward?" Demons are still present today, but has this practice of demonic and human union continued to exist? Yes, but I think not resulting in the birth of children. Satan's first attempt to rob God of our worship failed, so now he must take another approach. Today, we see a spiritual manifestation of this "union" as Satan continues to seek those who would choose him and reject God. From this passage, we know that the consequence of evil and its resulting wickedness reaps Divine judgment. However, after the Flood, God still had work to do. Work that only He could do to free us from the result of sin. The Nephilum (the result of spiritual and physical union) were a poor and insufficient copy of the Union that God had planned. God only needed ONE union, a Holy union to produce the Savior of the whole world! There's a lot to think about from this passage! Thanks for the spiritual exercise!" Blessings! Mommapbs |

208 | Who were the sons of God from Genesis 6 | Gen 6:4 | Mommapbs | 76135
Greetings Papyrus. "Gen 6:1-4 *sons of God.* The 'sons of God' may mean God's created, supernatural beings, who were no longer godly in character (6.3). Some commentators believe, however, that this expression refers to the 'godly line' of Seth and that 'daughters of humans' (v. 4 in the NRSV) refer to women from the line of Cain. Most likely the phrase refers to those descendants of Seth who trusted in the Lord but whose children intermarried with women descended from Cain. Those marriages were not with angels then, but between godly and ungodly human families. Angels neither marry nor are given in marriage (Mt 22:30), so that this verse hardly applies to them. ... *Nephilim* are strong, violent, tyrannous men of great wickedness. It may well be that the explanation of these verses has been lost to us." (NRSV Harper Study Bible, Harold Lindsell, Ph.D., D.D., Grand Rapids, Michigan: Zondervan, 1991) Scripture does not tell us who Noah's sons married, all we know is that God chose to save them as well as Noah's wife and sons. Frankly, after being through the Flood, I would like to think that they knew enough to "fear God and keep His commandments!" 209 | noah ark | Gen 7:11 | Mommapbs | 132853
Greetings - we know only that Noah had three sons when he was 500 years old. (Gen 5:32;6:10) The flood came when he was in his 600th year. The Bible does not tell us specifically how long it took to build the ark. IMO, this is not as important as the fact that Noah was obedient to God in doing it! Can you imagine the ridicule he lived with - the rejection of the people? Inspite of it all, he stood firm and trusted God. Blessings, mommapbs |

210 | "HOW MANY DAYS DID IT TOOK DA WATERS 2 D | Gen 8:14 | Mommapbs | 200328
Greetings rajesh005 - Genesis 7:11 tells us that the flood began on the 17th day of the second month in the 600th year of Noah's life. The earth was not dry until the 27th day of the second month in the 601st year of Noah's life. You do the math. (Can you imagine being zoo-keeper for that length of time?!) Blessings, mommapbs |

211 | Is fish or seafood considered a meat? | Gen 9:3 | Mommapbs | 71785
Greetings! Living things are classified in kingdoms; the two primary ones are: animal and plant. Although both kingdoms are sources of protein, if the living thing is an aninmal it is a source of meat. Fish or other seafood are not plants, therefore we can conclude that they are "meat." mommapbs |

212 | Who married Noah's daughters? | Gen 9:19 | Mommapbs | 76138
Papyrus, if Noah had daughters, they are not mentioned specifically. We know that his three sons and their wives were saved from the deluge. According to this verse, the earth was populated from the SONS of Noah. Evidently, Noah's procreation had ceased. Where did you get the impression that Noah had daughters? Please try to give a Scriptural reference when you ask a question. Blessings, mommapbs |

213 | Why confuse the language? | Gen 11:6 | Mommapbs | 84608
Greetings! Makarios gave a response that I have copied here: "..If the whole human race remained united in the proud attempt to take its destiny into its own hands and, by its man-centered efforts, to seize the reins of history, there would be no limit to its unrestrained rebellion against God. The kingdom of man would displace and exclude the kingdom of God." (1) (1) The Zondervan NASB Study Bible, 1999, the Zondervan Corporation, Kenneth Barker, General Editor Mommapbs writes now, Reaching heaven is not the problem, rebellion is. When man seeks to have his needs met in anyone or anything other than God, it is rebellion. "Let us build for ourselves. . . let us make a name for ourselves" (Gen 11:4), is a BIG indication that God was not in the building plans or that name! I hope this prompts some introspection for you! mommapbs |

214 | Abram's deception or justification | Gen 12:13 | Mommapbs | 50022
Greetings Armour Bearer! The consequences of Abram's "deception" are described in verses 16 and 17. How much more might the Lord have done for Abram IF he had trusted the Lord with his life rather than his wife?! Something to think about! Also, it is sobering to realize that OUR choices, which "seem" to be "good" (an appearance of Godliness?) may have negative effects on others too! Blessings, Mommapbs |

215 | Who'd Be In Charge? | Gen 24:5 | Mommapbs | 47475
Greetings Lionstrong! The question I am prompted to ask to further understand this passage is why did Abraham issue this warning? "Beware that you do not take my son back there!" Perhaps this is an admonition for those who are "in charge" that they faithfully fulfill the will of their "Master!" I don't see this as an authority issue as much as it is an obedience one. Remember that Abram was called to come out of Ur,(see Gen 11:27-12:1; Neh 9:7) just as we are called today to come out of sin and into a love relationship with Jesus. Those who are charged with our care and instruction would do well to heed the warning Abraham issues to his servant. Just my personal observations from this passage! Blessings, Mommapbs |

216 | capacity of water pitcher gen. 24:15 | Gen 24:15 | Mommapbs | 144899
Greetings. Th Bible does not tell us the capacity of the jar, only that it was used to hold water. In this particular verse, the jar was empty. I suspect there is much more to consider here than at first reading though. An empty jar, a full jar; a request for a drink - the revelation of a promised bride . . . reminds me of Jesus' encounter with the Samaritan woman. Blessings, mommapbs |

217 | How many wives did Abraham have? | Gen 25:1 | Mommapbs | 110374
Greetings and welcome to the Forum. Abraham had 2 wives as recorded in Scripture, Sarai and Keturah (see Gen 11:29). More significant is Gen 25:5 - Although Abraham had several children, he gave all he had to Isaac - the son of the Promise. (What might this mean for us as Children of God?) mommapbs |

Since Saul did NOT obey the Lord are you looking for that reason? "Then Saul said to Samuel, "I have sinned; I have indeed transgressed the command of the LORD and your words, because I feared the people and listened to their voice." 1 Sam 15:24 Saul recognized his sin and tries to make an excuse for it. Do we not do the same in our choices at times? Blessings, mommapbs |
