102 | Why did Jesus have to suffer? | Heb 2:9 | Makarios | 226794
Greetings Janlsun, You asked, "why did Jesus have to suffer all the humiliation?" Hebrews 2:9 "But we do see Him who was made for a little while lower than the angels, namely, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone." Hebrews 13:12 "Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people through His own blood, suffered outside the gate." Acts 17:3 "explaining and giving evidence that the Christ had to suffer and rise again from the dead, and saying, "This Jesus whom I am proclaiming to you is the Christ." John 3:16-17 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him." Blessings to you, Makarios |

103 | Is Nisan 14 in any version of bible? | John 19:14 | Makarios | 226792
Greetings Debbieo, You asked, "Is Nisan 14 in any version of bible?" Nisan (Babylonian), or the month of Aviv (Hebrew), is a spring month (March - April) and the first month of the ecclesiastical year of the Hebrew calendar. John 19:14,31,42 indicate that Nisan 14 was the day that Jesus was crucified in Jerusalem. So, as long as the Bible version includes the Gospel of John chapter 19, then I would assume that it would contain a reference to the day Nisan 14. Blessings to you, Makarios |

107 | Disciples during Christ's 40 days? | Mark 1:12 | Makarios | 226721
Greetings David, You asked, "What were the disciples doing while Christ was in the wilderness for 40 days?" If you read Mark 1:9-14, Jesus is first mentioned in verse 9, then He is baptized, and then immediately (verse 12) goes from being baptized into the wilderness. He had not yet called the disciples to Him at that time. He would call them after the 40 days. Blessings to you, Makarios |

108 | Why John, not Jesus' borthers? | John 19:27 | Makarios | 226710
Greetings 00123, You ask, "Why did Jesus ask John to care of Mary? What happened to Mary's other children? Caring mother is own children's responsibility, isn't it?" John's Gospel alone describes the scene in which Jesus, while dying on the cross, commits His mother to the care of the beloved disciple (verses 26-27). Perhaps this is more of a reflection of a later tradition that holds that Mary and John both lived in the city of Ephesus until their deaths. But in Acts 1:14, Mary is back with her sons rather than John, and we would expect that the brothers of Jesus would have accepted their filial responsibility to care for their mother after the death of her firstborn. However, from a larger perspective of the church, it could also be said that John is less concerned about the historical relationships as he is in this remembrance than to provide an example of Jesus, from the cross, a symbol of what would be the new community of the church, brought into existence through the death and resurrection of the Lord (see Mark 3:33-35 and Acts 2:41-47). 109 | What about holidays, birthdays, etc.? | John 17:16 | Makarios | 226709
Greetings Julia, I apologize; you were asking if "not being part of this world" included Holidays and Birthdays, etc.. It was actually written in the Law of the Lord (2 Chronicles 2:4; 8:13; 31:3) that festivals and celebrations be offered continually (1 Chronicles 23:31) before the Lord (Ezekiel 46:3). In the New Testament, Colossians 2:16 says, "Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day--" so that no one could act as a judge in regards to these types of things. Now, there are people who do not feel comfortable taking part in certain elements of Holidays, such as Halloween, or drinking during New Years, or getting caught up in all of the commercialism of Christmas. But I have always considered that as a matter of personal conscience: even though Col. 2:16 indicates that we are free from being judged by other believers for partaking in such Holidays, we may not be free from the judgment of the Holy Spirit inside of us (1 Cor. 6:12). So, if the Holy Spirit is leading you to abstain from certain elements of Holidays, then no one can judge you from abstaining from them either. I pray that this helps! Blessings to you, Makarios |

111 | What does it mean "not of the world"? | John 17:16 | Makarios | 226689
Greetings Julia! You asked, "What does it mean 'not of the world'"? If you are a Christian, do you ever think of yourself as a missionary, right where you are? If you are a Christian, you are and should be different from those who simply watch life pass by or use life for the attainment of things. Instead of being in that mold, you should be in 'Christ's mold'! That is, that you have something (or Someone) within you that seeks to be, in every way, a part of Christ, but must remain here on earth to accomplish His purpose. You are truly unique as a Christian! Church is one place designed to take your focus off the world, even for a few minutes, so that you can focus on that 'other world' (or God), and then we go back out into the world again to do His will, and then do it all over again the following week. When Christ 'breaks' into the life of a person, it is the single most important life-changing event in that person's life! And we must make all preparation in prayer so that the conditions for such an event taking place are at their fullest; in short, we must pray for an 'out of this world' occurrence - that the Holy Spirit intervenes, and possibly uses us to carry and deliver His message. Blessings to you, Makarios |

112 | What man gambled his garments and sheets | Bible general Archive 4 | Makarios | 226683
Greetings Shannon034, You asked, "What man gambled his garments and sheets in the Bible and what caused him to lose the gable?" This question sounds like it came straight out of homework, and not an original, or genuine, question about the Bible. The closest thing I can find to an answer would be John 19:23-24. It is there that I recommend you search to find the answer. As a pastor's son who has been involved in countless Bible studies, classes, sword drills, exams, memorizations, and college exams at Christian University as well as - what seems as - neverending study in apologetics and in the Bible every single day, I am no stranger to these types of "Bible questions" from homework. These are designed to prompt you to search and find the answer for yourself in Scripture. I suppose if I were trying to answer you with all integrity, I really should not be providing any answer to you at all; but simply pointing you in the direction of scripture - to keep my OWN integrity. Please consider this as a warning, and search the scriptures on your own, only consulting this Forum as a last resort, with your own honest, genuine question. Blessings to you, Makarios |

113 | Was Satan in the garden with Jesus | Matt 26:36 | Makarios | 226681
Greetings Adana90, You asked, "Was Satan in the garden with Jesus"? Scripture: Matt. 26:36 and Mark 14:32 I am assuming that you are asking about whether Satan was present with Jesus in Gethsemane. In the Biblical account, there is no mention of Satan being present with Jesus at Gethsemane. So, where the Bible is silent, then we dare not speculate, or read something into the Bible that is not there. Blessings to you, Makarios |

114 | What was the meaning of Peter's vision | Acts 10:12 | Makarios | 226630
Greetings Tink43! You asked, "What was the meaning of Peter's vision?" My wife and I are actually studying Acts together and we just went through this passage. Peter's vision in Acts 10:11-17 is God's way of telling Peter that he should not call "any man common or unclean" (verse 28) so that he and his companions (verses 44-48) would know that "God has granted to the Gentiles also the repentance that leads to life" (11:18). So, salvation was not just for the Jew: it was for Gentiles also, and Gentiles were also filled with the Holy Spirit (10:44-45). Blessings to you, Makarios |

115 | what laguage did abraham know? | Gen 12:10 | Makarios | 226594
Greetings Methusela, You asked, "when Abraham spoke to the egyptians in what laguage?" If Abraham was not fluent in Egyptian, then he communicated in whatever language an Asiatic Semite would have spoken at that time. Blessings to you, Makarios |

116 | who is thre "anyone" in Genesis 4:15 | Gen 4:15 | Makarios | 226592
Greetings Brenda123, Adam and Eve had unnamed sons and daughters (Genesis 5:4), and Eve was the "mother of all living" (3:20). Tradition has it that they had 33 sons and 27 daughters. In the 130 years from Adam's creation to Abel's murder, many generations had arisen by that time to bring the total human population to possibly in the thousands. Therefore, the people, Cain's 'outcast offspring', would have been numerous enough to help him build a village, or city. Blessings to you, Makarios |

117 | difference between giving and tithing | Gen 14:20 | Makarios | 226590
Greetings West, You asked, "What is the difference between Old Testament tithing and New Testament giving?" In the Old Testament, a tithe was based on the example of Abraham in Genesis 14:20 when he gave a tenth. In contrast, the New Testament does not necessarily affirm the example of Abraham but instead says that we should give to glorify God (Matthew 6:1-4) from a cheerful heart (2 Cor. 9:7). 119 | How do you worship god | 1 Cor 7:35 | Makarios | 226569
Greetings 319 Elarpenteur Ave Apt 12, Welcome to StudyBibleForum.com! You asked, "How should someone worship god and what does it mean to worship god"? Worshipping God is living a life daily of "undistracted devotion" to Him (1 Cor. 7:35) so that our minds are conformed to Christ (Romans 12:2), our bodies are living sacrifies to Christ (Romans 12:2) and our deeds reflect our walk with Him (Galatians 5:22-23). Worshipping Him demands that our entire lives lie bare, open and prostrate before Him, always in a mind of purity (Philippians 4:8), prayer (Philippians 4:6), praise (Psalm 119:164), and preparation (1 Peter 3:15) so that we may have as our single ambition to be pleasing to God (John 8:29; 2 Cor. 5:9; Hebrews 11:5). Blessings to you, Makarios |

Greetings Phoenie, You ask, "Who was the parents of Cain's wife"? Answer: Adam and Eve. According to Genesis 5:4, Adam and Eve had sons and daughters, so Cain must have had one of his sisters as a wife. Blessings to you, Makarios |
