21 | What is adamic covenant? | Gen 2:16 | Makarios | 227877
Greetings Moning, You asked, "What is adamic covenant?" According to The Scofield Study Bible, NKJV, Oxford University Press, 2002, pages 6-7, the Adamic Covenant or "The Edenic Covenant" as referred to by this Bible, "required the following responsibilities of Adam: (1) to propagate the race; (2) to subdue the earth for man; (3) to have dominion over the animal creation; (4) to care for the garden and eat its fruits and herbs; and (5) to abstain from eating of one tree, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, on penalty of death for disobedience." Page 6 of this very same Bible defines a covenant in the following way: "A covenant is a sovereign pronouncement of God by which He establishes a relationship of responsibility (1) between Himself and an individual, (2) between Himself and mankind in general, (3) between Himself and a nation, or (4) between Himself and a specific human family." Now, without getting into the argument of the correct interpretation of certain events and periods of time in relation to human history, I would certainly agree that Adam did have certain responsibilities in the garden of Eden, even though the Bible does not specifically mention the word 'covenant' until Noah (Genesis 6:18), and what is labeled as the "adamic covenant" could therefore very well be an assumption in itself. 23 | Abraham becomes a father | OT general | Makarios | 227851
Greetings Luxton1991, You asked, "Where does God tell Abraham he will become a father"? There are actually several places in Genesis where God tells Abraham that he will have descendants, but the classic passage is Genesis 15:1-6, when Abraham's belief in this promise was reckoned as righteousness. 24 | was Paul ever hung upside down | NT general | Makarios | 227849
Greetings Tate, You asked, "where in the Bible does it talk about Paul being hung upside down"? The Bible doesn't say anything about Paul being hung upside down. As for Paul's martyrdom, we have to go to sources like Eusebius and Fox's Book of Martyrs. Blessings to you, Makarios |

The answer is Yes! 1 Peter 3:20 "who once were disobedient, when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through the water." Genesis 9:1 "And God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth." Blessings to you, Makarios |

26 | What did God mean when spoke to Jeremiah | Jeremiah | Makarios | 227839
Greetings Chellanig, You asked, "When God was speaking to Prophet Jeremiah, in Jeremiah 27-30. What exactly did he mean?" In the Book of Jeremiah, chapters 27-30 cover a lot of territory! Could you be more specific? I have a very well worn copy of Zondervan's Men's Devotional Bible, NIV, here at my desk as I am writing this. This Bible was a gift from my wife during the Easter week of 2007, and I also gave her a copy of the corresponding Women's Devotional Bible as well. Perhaps if I share the chapter headings, it will give you a Summary of what is included in each chapter and what to look for: Jeremiah Chapter 27 - Judah to Serve Nebuchadnezzar Jeremiah Chapter 28 - The False Prophet Hananiah Jeremiah Chapter 29 - A Letter to the Exiles Message to Shemaiah Jeremiah Chapter 30 - Restoration of Israel So, after reading the chapters and having the titles in mind, feel free to let us know if you can be more specific if you still have a question. Blessings to you, Makarios |

30 | What is the root word of love | Bible general Archive 4 | Makarios | 227788
Greetings Lanet, You asked, "What does it mean "the Bible uses the root word of Love 500 times"? What is the root word of Love?" I have "The Strongest Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible", and found that the word 'love' appears in the KJV 310 times, 'love's' only once, 'loved' 98 times, 'lovedst' twice, 'lovely' 4 times, 'lover' 4 times, 'lovers' 23 times, 'loves' 3 times, 'lovest' 12 times, 'loveth' 65 times, and 'loving' 3 times. Of all of these occurrences, the vast majority of the Hebrew entries have the Hebrew word 'ahab' present, but there are others also, like 'hasaq' (Deut. 7:7). Of the Greek, the vast majority stem from either 'agapao' or 'agape', but there are others also, like 'phileo' (John 21:15). So, even though the Bible does refer to "love" more than 500 times, there are several Hebrew and Greek words that are used throughout the Bible to convey love within the context of the passages. 32 | HOW DOES AFTER HIS KIND SHOW THAT EVOLUT | Gen 1:21 | Makarios | 227784
Greetings Tamu Lavette, You asked, "HOW DOES THE PHRASE "AFTER HIS KIND" (GENESIS 1 VERSE 21) SHOW THAT EVOLUTION WAS NOT IN GOD'S PLAN?" Genesis 1:21 "God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind; and God saw that it was good." The NET Bible has a good comment here as well: "For the first time in the narrative proper the verb "create" (bara') appears. (It is used in the summary statement of v. 1.) The author wishes to underscore that these creatures - even the great ones - are part of God's perfect creation. The Hebrew term tanninim is used for snakes (Exod. 7:9), crocodiles (Ezek. 29:3), or other powerful animals (Jer. 51:34). .." The NET Bible: www.bible.org Blessings to you, Makarios |

33 | HOW IS GODS GOODNESS REVEALED IN HIS CRE | Gen 1:29 | Makarios | 227782
Greetings Tamu Lavette, You asked, "HOW IS GOD'S GOODNESS REVEALED IN HIS CREATION GENESIS 1 VS. 29?" Genesis 1:29 "Then God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you;" God gave provision to mankind by giving them every seed-bearing plant and tree with fruit to eat for food. Now, this passage is commonly understood to mean that man could only eat the plants and fruit bearing trees, but this 'fallacy by noninclusion' does not necessarily mean that man was restrained only to eating plants. The NET Bible has a good note here: "G.J. Wenham (Genesis [WBC], 1:34) points out that there is nothing in the passage that prohibits the man and the woman from eating meat. He suggests that eating meat came after the fall. Gen. 9:3 may then ratify the postfall practice of eating meat rather than inaugurate the practice, as is often understood." 37 | Understanding Rapture / Second coming ? | 1 Thessalonians | Makarios | 227775
Greetings GmaKate, You asked a question about understanding the rapture and the second coming. Our understanding of the "rapture," as related to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, is largely based on 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18: 1 Thess. 4:13-18 "But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words." Please also read Matthew chapter 24. Once you have read these accounts, you will be more prepared to come to an understanding of the rapture in relation to the Second Coming of Christ. Blessings to you, Makarios |
