NASB | Genesis 4:15 So the LORD said to him, "Therefore whoever kills Cain, vengeance will be taken on him sevenfold." And the LORD appointed a sign for Cain, so that no one finding him would slay him. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 4:15 And the LORD said to him, "Therefore, whoever kills Cain, a sevenfold vengeance [that is, punishment seven times worse] shall be taken on him [by Me]." And the LORD set a [protective] mark (sign) on Cain, so that no one who found (met) him would kill him. [Gen 4:24] |
Bible Question: Genesis 4:15 there is a reference to "anyone" and "no one." Where did all these people come from...and those who will help Cain build a city? |
Bible Answer: Greetings Brenda123, Adam and Eve had unnamed sons and daughters (Genesis 5:4), and Eve was the "mother of all living" (3:20). Tradition has it that they had 33 sons and 27 daughters. In the 130 years from Adam's creation to Abel's murder, many generations had arisen by that time to bring the total human population to possibly in the thousands. Therefore, the people, Cain's 'outcast offspring', would have been numerous enough to help him build a village, or city. Blessings to you, Makarios |
