103 | Is anything in the bible proven untrue | Ps 119:160 | Pastor Glenn | 67304
Excellent Retxar! Romans 3:4 Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar. As it is written: "That You may be justified in Your words, And may overcome when You are judged."[Psalm 51:4] |

Wow Joe, A spanish word for atheist! I thought that his question at ID 67242 gave him away. Why try to pretend? Why not just come out and say "I am an atheist, please answer my question..."? retxar really did an excellent job on answering his question here though. God Bless, Pastor Glenn |

105 | Sexual orientation determined at birth | Prov 3:13 | Pastor Glenn | 104893
Well said stjones except: "I have to agree with the liberals who say that the Bible does not specifically address sexual orientation." By the way happy Thanksgiving. I thank the Lord for allowing myself, beautiful wife, and nine children to be in the land of the living. I also thank Him for providing all of our needs. Alleluia. About your statement; respectfully, everything else that you said is the opposite of your opening paragraph. Please let me explain why: Just as you said "...Scripture does deal with sinful desires in general - they are the result of our fallen nature and our inclination toward sin. ...". Scientific literature ignores the fact of the "sinful nature" of fallen man. Here is one scripture that kalos provided: Roman 1 26For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. Does this scripture show "...silence on sexual orientation in particular ..."? I hope that you don't feel that I am knit picking. Pastor Glenn |

106 | Sexual orientation determined at birth | Prov 3:13 | Pastor Glenn | 104901
Very well said Steve. I also remember hearing of how the medical community changed the difinition of homosexuality in the 1970s from being a disorder. I realized back then that only bad implications would follow. The liberal judges and politicians are now very confused. They are now mixing in human civil rights in efforts to create a climate of anti-homophobia. They are seeking to prevent us from preaching against this particular sin. Thanks for the elaboration. God bless, Pastor Glenn |

107 | What about other death punishments? | Prov 6:16 | Pastor Glenn | 142284
"... I will not use His name to inflict hate or fear into another...." Hate is not the issue. It is seldom that hate is displayed from Christians towards homosexuals. However, "fear of the Lord" provides us with boundaries or lines that we will not cross: 2 Kings 17:25 And it was so, at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they did not fear the LORD; therefore the LORD sent lions among them, which killed some of them. Psalm 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise endures forever. Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 9:10 "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Hebrews 10:31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. 108 | Why the spotlight on gays? | Prov 6:16 | Pastor Glenn | 142302
Ezekiel 16:49 Look, this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: She and her daughter had pride, fullness of food, and abundance of idleness; neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. Gen 19 4 Now before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both old and young, all the people from every quarter, surrounded the house. 5 And they called to Lot and said to him, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may know them carnally." |

109 | Why the spotlight on gays? | Prov 6:16 | Pastor Glenn | 142334
Hello Doc, “I will ask you a question in return: what is meant by God's call to us to be salt and light? In what way can we influence the world around us? “ Mat 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Mat 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Mat 5:15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Mat 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. “What single group can turn to God and have Him heal their land? Will the land heal otherwise?” These are scriptures that come to mind in consideration of these questions: 2Ch 7:13 If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; 2Ch 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Jer 18:7 At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it; Jer 18:8 If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them. Jer 18:9 And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it; Jer 18:10 If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them. We need to remember also that after the Great Flood, everyone knew God. Every nation on earth had living ancestors since the 8 survivors lived hundreds of years. I have no doubt that God will hold family leaders and various national leaders responsible for “not glorifying Him as God”. Romans 1 cannot be limited at all to the church. The scripture at 2Chron 7:14 does not apply to Romans 1, as the website suggests. Jesus said that the men of Nineveh would rise on Judgment Day against this wicked generation and condemn it. Because they repented after only one sermon from one preacher. This applies to all men world-wide, as does Romans 1: Mat 12:41 The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here. Mat 12:42 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here. The phrase “…When they knew God…” (verse 21) cannot mean the church corporately or else the phrase “…God gave them up…” (verse 24) would also have to apply corporately to the church. In that case there would be no more church today. That cannot happen since Jesus said the gates of hell shall not prevail against it (His church, Mat 16:18). Rom 1:19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Rom 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Rom 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, Rom 1:23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Rom 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Any comments? Your brother in Christ, Pastor Glenn |

110 | Why the spotlight on gays? | Prov 6:16 | Pastor Glenn | 142423
Hello Doc, “The question is this: In what way do we offer light? How do we know we are doing this sufficiently or not? Do we simply say, "Jesus loves you?" Or do we actually help men to know truth, sin, and the nature of God? In what way are we salt?” We offer light by living godly so that people may see our good works: Mat 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Also, we are living bible scripture letters: 2Co 3:2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: 2Co 3:3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart. We are salt when we effect change all around us. “Do we just stave off inevitable judgement, or do we actually contribute to making the world a better place for the reprobate and elect alike? (That is what our God does.)” There is no such thing as “inevitable” judgment. Judgment, whether on the individual level or the national level, can be averted completely: Individual: Eze 33:18 When the righteous turneth from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, he shall even die thereby. Eze 33:19 But if the wicked turn from his wickedness, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall live thereby. National: Jer 18:7 At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it; Jer 18:8 If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them. Jer 18:9 And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it; Jer 18:10 If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them. “I appreciated your comments regarding judgement. I don't remember ever stopping to think about what it meant that "Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation." I suppose I had always thought it was metaphorical.” Yes, the Lord drives home the point that all people need to be ready for Judgment Day. If we die in Christ, we are pardoned from sin: Isa 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. “You stated, "We need to remember also that after the Great Flood, everyone knew God." I hadn't imagined that Paul was talking about post-deluvian man. I thought it was more general than that.” You are right. It is more general than that. I was simply giving an example. “Even the Greeks and Romans new something about God (Pythagoras is a good example of one of the ancient philosophers who talked about a "one God.") This Greek word, "ginosko" is not a personal or intimate knowledge, but a general knowledge, an awareness. If he had meant an intimate, personal knowledge, Paul would have used the word "eido." (See 2 Thes 1:8, Hebrews 8:11, 10:30, and elsewhere.)” The general knowledge that is spoken of in Romans 1:20, should inspire anyone to seek the Lord intimately; as did the men of Nineveh, as well as, the queen of Sheba: Mat 12:41 The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here. Mat 12:42 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here. 111 | We shouldn't be in the military? | Eccl 3:8 | Pastor Glenn | 139678
Hello He-man, You asked: “…why does it say 2 Corinthians 10:3,4”: ------------------------------------------------- " For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) ------------------------------------------------- This scripture is discussing “spiritual” war. God is spirit and so is Satan. Satan is more afraid of a righteous persons’ prayer than the US military: ------------------------------------------------- James 5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. ----------------------------------------- By prayer we ask God to fight for us. A praying, righteous soldier does not depend on his gun. He depends on God to give him the victory. You quoted: -------------------------------------------------- Luke 22:49-51 "...Lord shall we smite with the sword?...and cut off his ear..and Jesus ..touched his ear and healed him. -------------------------------------------------- Jesus also said here that they that live by the sword shall die by the sword. Jesus told them that He could easily have called down legions of angels to stop His arrest, but He was about to be crucified and it was time. The anti-Christ agenda was being used by the Chief Priests in an effort to destroy Christ. Satan was behind their plans. You quoted: -------------------------------------------- Eph 6:10-18 "..be strong..put on the whole armor of God..helmet of salvation...shield of faith..sword of the Spirit.." -------------------------------------------- Again, this is speaking of “spiritual” armor for spiritual warfare. The anti-Christ agenda is being used by Islamic terrorists today in an effort to destroy Christianity and the Jews. Satan is behind their plans. The good vs. evil battle is more specifically Christ vs. anti-Christ (Rev 12). Here is another scripture: -------------------------------------------- 2 Chronicles 20:15 And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's. -------------------------------------------- Pastor Glenn |

113 | Isaiah 14 - Lucifer's people? | Is 14:12 | Pastor Glenn | 142598
Hello Brother Tim, I have great respect for your posts, but I wanted to point out that other scriptures are also addressing individuals, as well as, Satan. When Satan is indwelling a person, God has addressed both of them in the same passages: Gen 3:14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Notice how dialog directed to the serpent in verse 14 is quickly redirected to Satan in verse 15. We see this again in Ezekiel 28, as well as, in John 13:27. Joh 13:27 And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly. Matthew 16:23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men. Any comments? Amen Brother Hank, I also like the story of Daniel and the 3 Hebrew boys that learned science under the King of Babylon's best instructors. It was the fear of the Lord that made them 10 times better than all others. Daniel 1:4 Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans. Psalms 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever. Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. Keep up the good work here Hank and all others here that continually defend the faith. |

117 | she brought forth her children? | Is 66:12 | Pastor Glenn | 85632
jbw, Very good answer from Scribe. “This whole chapter is one to meditate on often. It is an example of the type of passages in the prophets that are the foundation for the scriptures in the New Testament. This prophecy is all about the conversion of the Gentiles through the Man Child that would be born in Israel, the relationship of Jerusalem to the church, both in it’s origins and it’s heritage, and the coming of judgment upon those that rejected the Lord, with the glorification of the church before their eyes. This chapter covers big picture thinking concerning the plan of God from the birth of Christ, the beginning of the church which came about as it were in a day with Pentecost and the future creation of a new heaven and earth. The beginning of the chapter is all about how that God is not pleased with the legal works of the Jew but is seeking the humble repentant heart of faith instead, and will accept such a heart whether found in Jew or Gentile.” I think that Isaiah 54 might be a companion to this chapter to meditate on. What I like about these kinds of scripture is how they add enormous credibility to the scriptures against the skeptics that try to say that the scriptures were made up by men. While the Jews were hostile towards the Gospel message of Jesus Christ, they had no reason to embed the Gospel of “salvation to the Gentiles” throughout the Hebrew scriptures. So the presence of "hostile witnesses" is very important to tying the old testament together with the new testament. Therefore, the only explaination is that the entire Christian bible of 66 books, written by over 40 secretaries over a time span of over 1400 years, was motivated not by men, but by the single mind of God! 118 | How important is self esteem? | Ezek 16:44 | Pastor Glenn | 89500
Thank you for your response George, The scriptures that you posted have to do with Christians. I wanted to point out God's "temporary" disregard for the self esteem of sinners. Sinners need to be broken to lead to repentance: Psalm 51 17The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart-- These, O God, You will not despise. Ezekiel 20:43 And there you shall remember your ways and all your doings with which you were defiled; and you shall loathe yourselves in your own sight because of all the evils that you have committed. Ezekiel 36:31 Then you will remember your evil ways and your deeds that were not good; and you will loathe yourselves in your own sight, for your iniquities and your abominations. Pastor Glenn |

Thank you mommapbs, After reading the excepts from the book "The Search for Significance" on Amazon.com, it appears well worth reading. So I plan to order it. Having read that book, can you comment on the people of Ezekiel 16 in light of what you have learned? Notice for example that they did not see themselves as being as bad as Sodom, but God says they were worse. The book refers to Christian people that do not have enough self esteem, whereas Ezekiel 16 refers to people with too much self esteem. Also, do you have any comments concerning David's brokeness in Psalms 51? Pastor Glenn |
