I gave this for information Purpose only, not for doctrine discussion.Everyone should be aware of their history. If a religious body can trace their history back to a starting date after the Day of Pentecose. It causes me to wonder, don't you? After all Jesus said "upon this rock I build my church and all the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." But, I am willing to listen to what parts you think is Heresy, and your proof.

cajam: May I address a couple of concerns? I am always wondering why so many ppeople refer to the Holy Spirit as Ghost. Do you use this term because the King James has mis used the word Ghost? There is only one place in the New Testament where the word Ghost is used. I wonder if you are bound to the KJV as being the only reliable translation? Does not Matthew 28.20 instruct us to baptize them in the mame of the Father and Son and the Holy Spirit? I am aware some don't take this literal, but how do you understand that baptism is to be in the name of JESUS ONLY? Cold you help me understand how you feel you can trace your churches history (in the name of Jesus Only) back to Pentecose? I have sutudied Church History for some time, and could you please give me a source for your claims? Could you please tell me who or what is the "rock" you refer to? Now if you ar saying Jesus Christ is the ROCK, I would think you would use an upper case R and not a lower case r. I am just confused how if it is Jesus Only why you would not elevate His name. Why would you not use Jesus's Hebrew name if you want to be very accurate? I sincerely hope to hear some response if you would please. I ask these questions with gunine kindness and respect. Thank you. justme |

Justme, "Holy Ghost" is a term preferred especially among the Pentecostal Churches. And is may have started because of the KJV. We Are aware that it is the "Holy Spirit". But "Holy Ghost" has taken on a meaning all its own in these Churches. When we say "Holy Ghost" we know that this is the spirit of promise of the indwelling spirit. We still use the term "Holy Spirit" when relating to the Old Testament. And no, I am not bound by the KJV. Most all of our Churches use the KJV in Service (Sunday School, Bible Class, Morning Worship etc.) It would be confusing for everyone to have his or her favorite translation in this type of setting. I can not answer your question in the way that you would like regarding the baptism and Church History. Only to say you will understand when you see the Kingdom of God. When it comes to the baptism in Jesus name you are fulfilling Matt 28:20 also. You do not need to understand this to Obey. It is a big mistake to try to understand before you Obey. You must be born of the Water and the Spirit to see the Kingdom of God. I made a mistake by using a lower case R in "rock". This elevate him on a human term (and don't get me wrong this is important)and God knows I did it in error. But God is looking for obedience this is what really honors God. Jesus name in English is accurate enough. It is not just the utterance of the name, but also to know him. Hope this helps.
