Chick Publications! That says it all. Don't you know his website claims all non-KJV Bibles are demonic. | ||||||

Charles Chiniquy lived in the 19th century. Chuck Publications was founded in 1984. I suspect that Chiniquy used a French translation. Ad homenim arguments might seem persuasive from the perspective of your papal ptolemic, but it will not change minds here. |

Doc, Chick was around long before 1984. I am surprised you are so off the mark here. See this link for a good article on Chick. http://www.catholic.com/library/sr_chick_tracts_p1.asp Emmaus |

Not sure how Chick Publications popped into this discussion. Sorry I got their founding date wrong. The testimony of Charles Chiniquy was from a web site of Central Highlands Christian publications. http://www.chcpublications.net/thegift.htm Let's see now ad hominem, post hoc, and now straw man. Chiniquy's testamony must be pretty potent stuff to elicit so much misdirection. |

Doc, I made a polite correction of fact about the date of the founding of Jack Chick's enterprise in your post. I did not make any "ad hominem, post hoc, and now straw man" attacks on you. Why would you indicate in your repsonse that I did any of those? Cahrles Chiniquy was a Canadian Catholic priest who immigrated to America and was later excommunicated in 1858. In 1863 he became a Presbyterian minister. In addition to his book Fifty Years in the Church of Rome, he had some other rather strange conspiracy theories such as the Vatican being behind the assasination of President Lincoln in revenge for Lincoln's defense of Chiniquy in an 1856 lawsuit. Here is a link to some information about Chiniquy for those who may be interested. http://www.geocities.com/chiniquy/ Emmaus |

Up until this last post, I have seen all three of those logical fallacies applied in posts from Dalcent, and I have not been bothering to follow all that he has posted. I was under the impression that you were supporting his position. Charles Chiniquy had a great burden for those whom he regarded as enslaved by Rome. I had heard of his belief that the Pope was behind the murder of Abraham Lincoln. I am not easily persuaded in the acceptance of conspiracy theories. I am, however, very saddened when I hear from my friends in Germany regarding the Vatican's support of certain leaders there during the 20's through the 60's. Regardless, Chiniquy and Fox (not just their critics) should be read by everyone, lest we forget that our Lord is not served by Machiavellian intolerance. |
