Just curious... Christ stated "No man cometh to the Father but by me." Why do Catholics go before Priests to confess their sins? This is OT, not NT. Why do Catholics pray to the Saints? Unlike Christ, they are not omnipotent. They could not possibly hear the prayers of all the Catholics. Even if they could, there is but ONE intercessor between God and man, the man Christ Jesus. I am Protestant. I will always be so. Yet, though I do not believe as the Catholics do, it seems that the action of the Catholic Church is often closer to true Christianity than that of many professing Christian Churches. Christ, believing Him, what He did, and accepting the salvation He has made available, is all that matters. As long as the Foundation is Christ, denomination is simply icing on the top of the cake. I see no connection between John 20:22-23 and any of my questions. I have no doubt that even the Catholics haven't anyone amoung them whom Jesus breathed on at the time this scripture reflects. Can you be a little more specific? All who are saved have recieved the Holy Spirit. Acts Chapter 2. Dear soul, are you a devout Catholic? If so, can you not answer my simple questions? Thanks for trying. GB |

Glorybound, " I see no connection between John 20:22-23 and any of my questions." If you do not see the connection between your question, "Why do Catholics go before Priests to confess their sins?" and John 20:23 "If you forgive the sins of any, their sins have been forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they have been retained." and James 5:16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. then perhaps you will understand this answer. Because we choose to! Emmaus |

OK. Thanks for the additional enlightenment. James 5:16 makes it much clearer. You have most definantly sparked a topic of research for me concerning John 20:23. Though I have read it many times, I have never fully understood it. It is time for that understanding on my part. I'm still curious concerning the praying to the saints though. GB |

One mediator before god and that is Jesus Christ if you need scripture to back this up I will supply same and it is not correct to bow to idols for God though a God of Love is also a jealous God who does not want us to bow to anything that is carved or made to distract from his true worship. | ||||||
