Study the whole Bible and you should clearly see that God has given this dispensation of Godliness over to His Son. I agree with Kalos in that God's Word most certainly DOES NOT contradict itself but He does expect us to "graduate" from the Law of Moses and the OT as shown in Col 2:13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, 14having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross. 15And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. Matt 28:16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. 17When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted. 18And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen. The main theme throughout the Book of Hebrews is the superiority of this Law of Liberty as provided in the NT compared to that in the OT. This contrast is discussed briefly by Jesus in Mark 10:1 Then He arose from there and came to the region of Judea by the other side of the Jordan. And multitudes gathered to Him again, and as He was accustomed, He taught them again. 2The Pharisees came and asked Him, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?" testing Him. 3And He answered and said to them, "What did Moses command you?" 4They said, "Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce, and to dismiss her." 5And Jesus answered and said to them, "Because of the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept. 6But from the beginning of the creation, God "made them male and female.' 7"For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, 8and the two shall become one flesh'; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh. 9Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate." 10In the house His disciples also asked Him again about the same matter. 11So He said to them, "Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her. 12And if a woman divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery." We all know about the contrast about vengence with "eye for an eye and tooth for tooth" in the OT, but Jesus says forgive your neighbor and bless them that curse you. Kalos or anyone else...how do you reconcile these scriptures with your insistance that the OT is still applicable to us today?? There's just no way this position can be defended IF you consider the WHOLE Bible on this subject. I do hope and pray you'll reconsider but I also pray God will bless you with an open mind. |

Most of the time, I use the NIV from the Gateway website. I really prefer the NASB or the NKJV but I seem to have trouble getting those versions to come up on my screen while in that website. Do you use the Gateway Bible website? If so, maybe you're better at it than I am and would like to share?? Let me know and God bless. --Rowdy |
