Yes, I have considered it. But, with Jesus making Himself known to Peter before anyone else after the Resurrection, indicates to me that this is not just an act of forgiveness, it is a final act of Jesus solidifying that His work will continue before He, Jesus, continues to heaven and that the leadership role of Jesus is entrusted to Peter. And, Jesus is getting a final commitment and reassurance from Peter, that Jesus' work will continue. |

I merely point out the following: You write: "with Jesus making Himself known to Peter before anyone else after the Resurrection..." In fact, according to the Scriptures: The order of the post-resurrection appearances seems to be: (1) to Mary Magdalene; (2) to the women returning from the tomb with the angelic message; and (3) to Peter(Luke 24:34; 1 Corinthians 15:5). I checked all 4 gospels, seems like Mary M and other Mary were the first in Matt, Mark, Luke and John, does this mean she should have been the first pope? :) John also mentions he was w/Peter too, then there were the 2 disciples on the road to Emmaus... | ||||||
