Subject: Follow up Peter first Pope |
Bible Note: Hello there Brian.. (cont.) You said: "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." I say: I'm still at a loss as to why you keep repeating this verse over and over again.. You said: "If a single or a string of Popes misuse their authority, does it mean the existence of the Catholic Church is wrong and the leadership role of the Church is wrong, no it does not. It means a single Pope or a string of Popes misused their authority, but in the 2,000 year history of the Catholic Church - I believe more good leaders existed." I say: This statement alone proves my point that whatever a pope says should not be given the same 'reverence' or 'weight' as Scripture. How do you judge between a good pope and bad pope? Which one's doctrine is infallible and which isn't? If you stood on Scripture alone, then there is no need to ask this question. You said: "Now, was ML wiser for dividing the Church instead of working to heal it?" I still say and continue to say: Martin Luther's actions proved that he faithfully followed his calling as a true leader and faithful minister of Christ! We all owe him a sense of gratitude for helping the people realize just how far the church had gotten away from its initial mission! --Nolan |
