Brother Billy Joe With all due respect to your position I must say your focusing on the wrong things. Instead of looking at the Sabbath rest look at the Lord of the Sabbath. Jesus is the rest giver "Shiloh". Jesus repeatedly said the Sabbath was made for man not man for the Sabbath. Meaning God wanted man to rest one day in the seven and reflect on God who was still external to man. Jesus came so that we could have eternal life, abundant life and brought His rest for man. By proclaiming Himself Lord of the Sabbath Jesus showed He was fulfillment of the man's rest. In doing this He did not set aside any of the Ten Commandments but rather Jesus fulfilled one, the fourth the Sabbath rest. By accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior you now have your rest, it is in Christ Jesus. God is no longer external but rather internal dwelling in your heart and spirit. Once again read Exodus 20 8-11 notice it says rest do no work and keep it holy. This by definition limits what you do that day. Certainly eliminating food preparation, eating out, travel, going to church, visiting friends, watching TV. Yet I imagine you do nearly every one of those things on the Sabbath and complain at others for not keeping to the Sabbath. With respect to your position I ask you which in your eyes is more wrong. Accepting Jesus as Lord of the Sabbath Rest therefore fulfilling it and eliminating the need to keep it or saying we need to keep the Sabbath and then violate the very letter of the law? EdB |

Dear ED Thanks again for your feedback. Once more responding with no reasonable and effective scripture references to back up the argument that we are no longer to keep the 10 Commandments - I will simply ask you one question if you are willing and able to answer it: WHAT IS SIN? |

Brother Billy Joe Once again I never said we are to ignore the Ten Commandments, in fact if you look at the forum I'm trying to show others the God's laws are still to be honored. What I'm saying to you is Jesus declared Himself Lord of the Sabbath Matthew 12:8 "For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath." By doing that He declared that He fulfilled the Sabbath. We know this since the Sabbath was a day of rest and Jesus said I will give you rest Matthew 11:29 "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find REST FOR YOUR SOULS. Since the Jesus fulfilled the Sabbath by providing for our rest there is no need in keeping it. However we are to worship God so Christians meet on Sunday the day of our Lord's resurrection to worship. Now if you don't agree fine but please don't say I advocate breaking the Ten Commandments. I have never said that not do I now. To do so would make you a liar, since I clearly say keep God’s commandments. With respect EdB |

As a pastor of the LORD I must not be ashamed of His Truth, so I must speak out. I ask again not only to you but to all who may read this - WHAT IS SIN? I have yet to get an HONEST response from people. Pastor Billy Joe |

Pastor Billy Joe: Does it not seem out of character that someone who claims to be a "pastor of the LORD" would be asking what sin is? Isn't that much the same as a physician asking what disease is? One would expect a pastor to know what sin is and a physician to know what disease is, isn't that true? My meaning is that I'd think twice before consulting a physician who did not know what disease is, and the same would hold true of a pastor who did not know what sin is. --Hank | ||||||
