I had been raised up on the King James Version of the Bible - and was taught to believe every word was the truth - Now a new Preacher has taken over our Church and he is telling us that the King James Version of the Bible has so many errors and mistakes in the translation - now several of us have started questioning our salvation - just because of this mans comments - MY question is: Which Bible is really filled with truth and where could we obtain such a Bible - that is affordable and accessible for senior citizens? |

Romans 16:17--"Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them." Dear Aggie, I would like to ask you a couple of questions about your new preacher: 1) Has he mentioned specifically where any errors exist? If so, where? 2) Which translation does he use? If it's the NIV, I would question his claims. I don't mean to sound "King James Only", but I have not read one valid defense of the NIV, however, other than "it's easier to read." I have not seen one plausible explanation for the many omissions, such as leaving out "which art in heaven" from Luke 11. Or why there is no mention of the Trinity. There are more, too many to post here. My dear sister in Christ, before you question your salvation, ask yourself these questions: --Do I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that He walked the earth in human form?(Romans 1:3) --Do I believe that He died on the cross for my sins(John 3:16), and was risen again on the third day?(Romans 10:9) --Do I believe that Jesus ALONE is my redeemer, and that He is of the Holy Trinity of the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost?(1 John 5:7) If you answered "yes" to all these questions, then you ARE saved. the bible translation you use will not keep you out of God's heavenly kingdom, anymore than it would get you in. If you are more comfortable with the King James, then that is the one you should use. It's the one I grew up on, and I understood it quite well, even at 8 yrs old. In closing, always remember "That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God"(I Cor.2:5), and"the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power."(I Cor.4:20) May God bless you and keep you 2nd Samuel 22:36-37 |

To 2nd Samuel -- First of all the Pastor will read scriptures and he says it is from the Hebrew Bible and he does use the NIV translation and sometimes he will use the KJV translation but thats when he will say there are errors - (I can't find the exact scripture) but its about the thief hanging on the cross next to Jesus - and Jesus tells the thief that "today you will be with ME in Paradise" -- according to Pastor the thief did not go to Paradise - but that Jesus was just telling the thief on that day - that he would go to paradise --on Judgement Day--and there are a lot of other little things - like words such as heaven-when it should read plural(heavens) and when Jesus says "my Father and I are one" - should read they are like one - as if Jesus is not part of God-- Anyway I appreciate your response - and in questioning my salvation - I know better -- I can answer YES to all the questions that you listed - and I know in whom I believeth -- and yes my GOD reigns - God Bless you also Aggie |

I am sorry that your pastor has chosen to deny the Lord Jesus by denying His words. Here is what the Greek scholars say about the passage where Jesus promised the thief on the croos that he would be with Him that day in Paradise: (as you can see, the King James does translate that verse acurately.) A. T. Robertson wrote : Today shalt thou be with me in Paradise (Semeron met' emou esei en toi paradeisoi). However crude may have been the robber’s Messianic ideas Jesus clears the path for him. He promises him immediate and conscious fellowship after death with Christ in Paradise which is a Persian word and is used here not for any supposed intermediate state; but the very bliss of heaven itself. ------------------- your paster's other statment about 'My Father and I are one' meaning that they are like one just shows that he does not know his Greek. He is just rejecting the truth of God's word to fit his own unbelief. Again the Greek scholars verify that the KJV translated THAT verse accuratly: One (hen). Neuter, not masculine (heis). Not one person (cf. heis in Gal 3:28), but one essence or nature. ... The Pharisees had accused Jesus of making himself equal with God as his own special Father (Joh 5:18). Jesus then admitted and proved this claim (Joh 5:19-30). Now he states it tersely in this great saying repeated later (Joh 17:11, Joh 17:21). Note hen used in 1Co 3:3 of the oneness in work of the planter and the waterer and in Joh 17:11, Joh 17:23 of the hoped for unity of Christ’s disciples. This crisp statement is the climax of Christ’s claims concerning the relation between the Father and himself (the Son). They stir the Pharisees to uncontrollable anger. ---- I like what John Gill had to say : I and my Father are one. Not in person, for the Father must be a distinct person from the Son, and the Son a distinct person from the Father; and which is further manifest, from the use of the verb plural, "I and my Father", åóìåí, "we are one"; that is, in nature and essence, and perfections, particularly in power; since Christ is speaking of the impossibility of plucking any of the sheep, out of his own and his Father's hands; giving this as a reason for it, their unity of nature, and equality of power; so that it must be as impracticable to pluck them out of his hands, as out of his Father's, because he is equal with God the Father, and the one God with him. |
