Bible Question:
I had been raised up on the King James Version of the Bible - and was taught to believe every word was the truth - Now a new Preacher has taken over our Church and he is telling us that the King James Version of the Bible has so many errors and mistakes in the translation - now several of us have started questioning our salvation - just because of this mans comments - MY question is: Which Bible is really filled with truth and where could we obtain such a Bible - that is affordable and accessible for senior citizens? |
Bible Answer: Romans 16:17--"Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them." Dear Aggie, I would like to ask you a couple of questions about your new preacher: 1) Has he mentioned specifically where any errors exist? If so, where? 2) Which translation does he use? If it's the NIV, I would question his claims. I don't mean to sound "King James Only", but I have not read one valid defense of the NIV, however, other than "it's easier to read." I have not seen one plausible explanation for the many omissions, such as leaving out "which art in heaven" from Luke 11. Or why there is no mention of the Trinity. There are more, too many to post here. My dear sister in Christ, before you question your salvation, ask yourself these questions: --Do I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that He walked the earth in human form?(Romans 1:3) --Do I believe that He died on the cross for my sins(John 3:16), and was risen again on the third day?(Romans 10:9) --Do I believe that Jesus ALONE is my redeemer, and that He is of the Holy Trinity of the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost?(1 John 5:7) If you answered "yes" to all these questions, then you ARE saved. the bible translation you use will not keep you out of God's heavenly kingdom, anymore than it would get you in. If you are more comfortable with the King James, then that is the one you should use. It's the one I grew up on, and I understood it quite well, even at 8 yrs old. In closing, always remember "That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God"(I Cor.2:5), and"the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power."(I Cor.4:20) May God bless you and keep you 2nd Samuel 22:36-37 |
